Later when I found out that "típico" when referring to food is more about how such a dish represents the most famous local flavor of a region, the name made perfect sense. The food prepared here is the real deal and it's truly outstanding. Don't let the ambiance of this small saloon deter you. Elise is the owner and personally sees to the comfort of her guests. She and her chef are from the Dominican Republic, and their website states that Dominican cuisine has been influenced by indigenous Dominicans as well as settlers from Spain, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Canary Islands, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Haiti (next door on the shared island of Hispaniola), and Hungary. They further indicate that flavor contributions have been made by Sephardic Jews, slaves brought to the Republic by the French in the 17th Century, and freed Blacks who fled from the United States in the 19th Century. From the Menú Típica Latino, I ordered the Típico Fried Platter, and I strongly suggest you do the same. It has everything: Fried Pork, Fried Chicken, Longaniza (Spanish sausage), Salami, Fried Cheese, Casava, and Tostones. Amazing! As the Dominican Republic is only 57 miles southeast of Cuba, it is not surprising that there are also a few expressly classic Cuban dishes on the menu. One of these is the Ropa Vieja/ Shredded Stewed Beef and Vegetables. The rice accompanying this "típica" Cuban dish was cooked perfectly. The beef itself was so tender, its juices so flavorful, that for a moment I experienced zoanthropy, becoming one of Pavlov's dogs salivating just remembering this experience. AMAZING! After a long day at the pier we wanted something healthy and filling. We were looking for Jamaican and came across The Tiny Turtle... what a brilliant find. We split the Islander Wrap and Tripleta and were in heaven!!! Whether you're a tourist or a local this is a MUST try. My family and I have been coming here since they first opened. We absolutely love their food, service, staff and atmosphere. The Owners are one of the nicest and most generous people I know in Cocoa Beach. Their pork and mahi sofrito bowls are to die for. So delish! Taco Tuesdays are still our fave time to come! Heard a lot about the sofrito so I decided to order it. I could not believe how large of a portion it was and the taste was so unique and incredible. I ordered the blackened shrimp & grits,& we also got the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. The mozzarella sticks were really good & had that nice cheese pull, although they were a little thin. The food took a little while to come out, but everything was fresh & piping hot when it arrived. Now, the coleslaw deserves its own shoutout! You can get a side of coleslaw for only 11¢ per party. SCORE! 11¢ for coleslaw? I love me some coleslaw, so I was all about that! The blackened shrimp & grits were SOooo delish! The shrimp had so much flavor & there was so many of them. The grits were creamy & buttery. My meal came w/ cornbread. Let me tell you about that cornbread...It was fluffy,tasty, & I couldn't get enough of it. I almost ordered some to go.Honestly, everything we ordered was good. I'd come back again b/c the food was that GOOD!

We had the combos with yellow rice and pigeon peas (arroz con gandules), pork, chicken with cheese and basil, yucca, and platanos maduros. We got a bunch of empanadas for later and some desserts. Super super good! Nice people! We will be back next time we come through Titusville.
