I wish I took a photo of the lent menu. Two of the fish options were listed at $16. Icelandic Cod with in a bun or a dish with slaw and another side of your choice. Yet on the menu there is a fish sandwich for $3 less and one side choice. That's what I wanted. I didn't want the roll or the double sides. I was told I couldn't have that because it's a different fish. Yet all named the same. Then I was told it was different seasoning. They added in that the sizes were different. All the fish comes in frozen and ready for the fryer. And they did not order that particular sandwich size. But would they have that size on Saturday? Since the lent menu would be done? I call bull on all of that and should have been able to get what I wanted on the menu. I opted for the cowboy burger that was okay. The bun was a bit air stale. No flavor to the burger at all. Bagged chips. Would have hoped for homemade since they had 3 different fries to choose from. The other party with me had the boneless wings. They were good! Will I go back? Yes. Not getting the fish. Too much of a hassle.

When it's the first Friday of Lent and you call yourselves the 'lenten headquarters', you need to…read morebring your A-game. So many fire companies and fraternal orders in the area do lenten fish fries this time of year and, by and large, these once per year operations produce the most phenomenal fish dinners; plump, battered cod or haddock overflowing on a soft hoagie roll with equally impressive sides...cole slaw and/or mac & cheese. The bar has been set. The fish sandwich last night at GVI, while large in surface area, was panko breaded and only 1/2 inch thick at maximum in the ceter which tapered off to hard fried edges. It was dry, crunchy, and did not meet expectations. My wife had the same fish on a platter which was equally dry, eliminating the possibility of an unfortunate mistake. The cole slaw was good, but I didn't have an opportunity to try the mac & cheese. They were all out. No, I didn't say anything. If something like that gets plated, someone must believe that it's good enough. I'm not wasting my energy trying to convince them otherwise. You get one chance. The waitress still got a nice tip...not her fault.

Their menu changes seasonally, and it currently lists food such as fries, Cuban sandwich, chicken-tortilla soup, tagliatelle, flat-iron steak, and Hokkaido scallops. I met a friend here for one dinner. The setting was more on the casual side rather than fine dining. (I wore jeans and a blouse.) I have eaten authentic foods in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, and I thought that the menu was slightly influenced by these regions. The waitress and waiter spoke nicely with us. Our dinner that included a BYO wine (with a $5 charge per person), appetizer, entree, and dessert lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes. The foods had strong flavors, and we both enjoyed everything that we ate. For appetizers, my friend and I shared the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, which also contained carrots, pecans, and a dressing, and the Hot Low Country Crab Dip, which contained a good amount of crab meat and was served with crunchy toast. For entrees, I ate the Cutler-cove Salmon, which was accompanied with asparagus, potatoes, and a spicy jerk sauce and habanero purée, and my friend ate the Arugula Salad, which contained fresh arugula, baby carrots, goat cheese, olives, and hot honey. For dessert, I ate the Kentucky Bourbon Cheesecake, which was topped with pecans, caramel, and whipped cream, and my friend ate the Maple Panna Cotta with raspberries.
