I was told that the labor for my job could be charged to my Tile Shop Credit card when, I attempted to do so, AFTER they sold me all the overpriced tile and 1/3 of the job was complete I was told I MISUNDERSTOOD...
Not only did the Senior Designer Breanna acknowledge and tell me I could charge the installers labor but, she encouraged me to apply for the credit because as she put it "people like being able to pay for their jobs over 18 months without interest". I confirmed that I was going to be able to charge the labor ($5080.) to the card when I purchased the tile and I went into great detail in front of Heather the Asst. Manager and Whitney another associate about how I had found another tile for $2.48 sq.ft and the tile specifications were identical but, was spending the extra on the tile with the Tile shop specifically because I was able to charge the whole job.
When I complained to the store team, Heather directed me to the Corporate office, when I called the corporate office they directed me to the Regional Manager. I played phone tag with the Regional Manager but, ended up with Bud the Store manager on the phone who had been in contact with his regional manager. Bud told me I was lying, got defensive which put me on the defensive. I got frustrated when he told me they passed on the installer's discount of 40% and it should have only been 25% and that shouldn't have been allowed to be charged, that they did me a favor. I explained to him that the installer had figured his discount of 40% in when we discussed him doing the job before he sent me to see Breanna. The regional manager left me a message the day after my conversation with Bud and told me there was nothing that could be done "Sorry".
Overall, I feel that this team had an agenda to make the sale no matter what. I was taken advantage of and then told I was a liar. NEVER have I been so disturbed by the attitude and lack of integrity by a company or its employees.
I have owned and managed businesses and know there is always a win/win solution. I offered two solutions: 1) charge the labor and The Tile Shop cut the installer a check. 2) refund me $1,500 difference in what I ended up paying for the same quality tile I would have purchased had I not been told I could charge the whole job including the installers labor.
Unfortunately, when a team feels that much pressure to close the sale the pressure is usually coming from their Executive team. Very sad that they have to be so deceitful. read more
