The in-home consultation with Mike planning a basement bathroom was helpful to get an idea of the layout of things. However, during that consultation in our home we talked about budgets as the initial quote for a basement bathroom was $15000. We tried to find ways to stay within our budget. Crazy ideas like, what if we buy a vanity ourselves for $500 instead of budgeting $1500 for one they want us to use, were met with annoyance and reasons why that wouldn't work. Long story short, Mike ghosted us. We never heard back from our calls and ultimately ended up using another company to complete our basement project. I wish I could recommend them, but I truly cannot. I get the business end of wanting a certain price so you can turn a certain amount of profit, but ghosting someone is never acceptable and only required a quick call to say "it doesn't sound like we can do business together due to different budgeting priorities ". It left a bad taste in our mouths and that is the story we tell anyone who asks about using Modern Kitchen & Baths.

A subcontractor came out a month later, March 25, 2025 and measured. I've called Stone Trends and the subcontractor who keeps saying "I promise I'm going to get to you" I think two months later he could have squeezed me in for a small job that happened 3 months ago. Stone Trends needs to keep their word to me, its too late to keep patient.

When I reported the issue, I was told the chips had always been there and had simply been covered by the previous carpet. That explanation didn't make sense to me, particularly because there was glue residue present in areas where the tile was supposedly already chipped. While the owner made an offer to replace one tile, I was left feeling that the burden was placed on me to prove the damage occurred during installation. Whether you agree with their explanation or not, I would recommend thoroughly documenting and photographing any adjacent flooring before work begins. What started out as a good experience left me feeling somewhat sad and disappointed as if we, as the customer, did something wrong. Bummer.

Was asked my budget over the telephone and when I (reluctantly) told him, I was chuckled at. CASH BUDGET!! We were paying cash. When I called him on this, the salesman said that my budget may be a little low. HOW would he know this if he wouldn't even come to my home to see my kitchen? Would not recommend Thompson Price based solely on this telephone call. Was it because I'm a woman? Or that he didn't like my zip code?

I said Im aware of that, you told me several times now. I wanted to give my card number as a deposit that I was serious about coming to pay for them IN CASH because I was working on Friday until 9pm. He said he'd mark the listing as pending until Monday. He messaged me later that night and said a different salesperson sold them and they were pending. He said first come first serve. Which said to me they still hadn't been paid for yet by the other person. I said I could come out on Saturday to pay for them in cash, and he said that the store was closed. Online it says by appointment, so why couldn't I make an appointment for Saturday to pay for the cabinets? He never marked them as pending online once I had committed to buying them. It wasn't until that night that the post got marked as pending. 6 hours after he promo them to me. Now I own a business and if someone wanted to use a credit card as a temporary hold for payment the following day, I'd have made that happen for them. I live in a Illinois, work late on Fridays but was willing to drive over the next morning to pay for them in full. He never communicated that 7 others were hustling the cabinets, he never asked anyone if I could put my cc down as a temporary hold to let you know I was serious about purchasing them. And he was a dick at the end, then blocked me because he knew he was in the wrong. I called first thing Monday morning to see if they were available and I was told they were still pending. Meaning STILL NOT PAID FOR. Total BS and a horrible way to run a business! Had it been a good experience I not only would have bought that kitchen cabinet set, but more than likely would have ending up using your company for 2 other kitchen remodels that we have going this year on other properties.
