I initially left a positive review for Empire Flooring before any work was done because the…read moresalesman, Tim, was friendly and professional. He asked for a review and I assumed that based on his level of service in sales, that would carry through the entire project. Unfortunately, that assumption was dead wrong. Tim mismeasured our flooring, and the installers did not have enough material to complete the job. They had to leave the project incomplete with our home in disarray while more flooring was ordered. They kept trying to make us wait until the end of the week. We did not want to wait while the house was in disarray. I guess to get us to stop talking, they said that the installers would be back on Wednesday. I took time off so I could be present during the install, only for them to call me 30 minutes before arrival to say they couldn't come until Saturday. The contractor also asked us to sign completion paperwork, but we refused to sign anything until the job was actually finished. While I felt bad knowing they couldn't get paid until paperwork was signed, that's between the contractor and Empire. It's not the customer's responsibility. The contractor should know not to ask people to sign papers for work that isn't finished. The contractor should also ask permission before they get too comfortable in a client's bathroom. None of them asked to sit on our toilets and handle their business. That is very unprofessional of them. We repeatedly tried to reach Tim the salesman to resolve the issue. When he finally returned our call, there was no sense of urgency, despite the inconvenience we were dealing with. What's most frustrating is the lack of accountability. Instead of owning the mistake and trying to make things right, Tim attempted to shift blame. This situation exists solely because of improper measuring and poor follow-up. I now understand why Empire has so many low ratings. I would not recommend them to anyone.

After we decided on this company to put a new floor in our laundry room and kitchen; we realized…read morehow much of a scam this company really is! The young man came to do the floor in our laundry room. He worked by himself and started at 9:30 AM and worked until 8:30 PM. He was a nice young man, but he needed help. It was too much for him. He moved our utility wash basin to do the floor. When he put it back, it wasn't done right because when we turned the faucet on water poured all over the floor. We called empire the next day. They kept saying someone will get back to you. This went on for four days and now the fifth day, we still haven't heard from them. So it seems like we're going to have to pay a plumber to come in and repair what this young man did wrong. Because of this situation, we wanted to cancel the kitchen project. We had put down a deposit for both jobs. This company told us that the $1907 deposit will not be refunded in its entirety. They said that we will be refunded approx $527 of our money. My husband threatened to get a lawyer and and I threaten to write bad reviews on them if they did this. Later on that day, they made an exception. I want everyone to know what kind of company they are dealing with and what they think they are entitled to if you agree to have something done and then change your mind! You also should know that if something goes wrong they will not back you up! And then if you agree to have some work done and put a deposit down you will only get 1/4 of your money back. Beware of this company!!!!

Cabinets, appliances, top of fridge, etc. Garage was a disaster where most of the pieces were cut. I took numerous photos. A Michael's rep came out to review the mess. He commented he had not seen a "dusting" like this in a while (a "dusting?!). He asked what could Michael's do to make it right. He offered a $100, $150, or $200 off installation. I commented $150 or $200 would be nice. Flash forward several weeks. I went into Michael's to report yet ANOTHER issue (hall closet door track not glued properly). I inquired about the discount offered by the rep but the manager new nothing about it. He checked with the rep who, magically, seemed to NOT recall our conversation. I reminded the rep of the offer. He told me he would check and call me later that day. NEVER heard back. That's bad business, low integrity. A few more issues listed below: -I was told Merry Maids would send out a team to help clean. One person showed up from another business (?). She did the best she could but much to clean. -We switched from 3" baseboards to 5". A couple areas were left as 3". -Wrong color transition pieces were initially delivered and had to be reordered. The installers had to return to put in place. Michael's prides itself as being a friendly, family-owned business. However, much to be desired. There are many other flooring companies around. I would recommend using one of them instead.

I took my disabled father in to look at flooring for his house. She was quite helpful at first, but apparently she has no experience with assisting a customer who is hard of hearing: as our visit progressed, she spoke progressively quieter and quieter. When we got to the desk to discuss pricing, she refused to answer basic questions, such as how much the flooring would cost per case. Instead, she announced that it would be "four twenty nine" per square foot. When asked if that was four hundred twenty nine or four dollars and twenty nine cents, she only repeated "four twenty nine". By this time, her speech was a mere mumble, to the point that I myself could barely hear her. When asked if she could speak up, she told me to relay for her, because she wasn't going to yell for anyone. Hey Michael: this woman's treatment of disabled customers is not befitting of a business of your quality and status.
