Managing a carpet installation in a townhouse over 1000 miles from where you live is not an easy…read moretask! We contacted Legendary Flooring in November to help us choose carpeting and arrange an installation date in a townhouse we owned in Lake in the Hills. We were balancing installation, painting, and tenant move out on a tight schedule around Thanksgiving. With the help of Legendary Carpet and a great painter, we were able to work around schedules and have the carpeting installed immediately after the painting was completed and while the tenants were finishing up their move. The plan came together perfectly with the outstanding help of the Legendary Flooring team. When we made the trip up to visit the townhouse after all of the installations and painting was done we found everything to be exactly as we had hoped. Kimberly at Legendary was a Superstar, reaching out to the tenant and coordinating with the painter to have the carpet installed the day before Thanksgiving. I would strongly recommend Legendary Flooring for any work you are planning. We found them to be extremely easy to work with and flexible working with a complex schedule to get the job done at a very reasonable price. It's easy to see how they came by their name - Legendary Customer Service!

So perfect, you can't see a seam?…read more Five stars is not enough! A friend referred me to this local countertop shop. I had lived with new marble top installed by previous homeowner in my kitchen since I moved in 8 years ago. But.. the pattern was very busy, never had a nice sheen, and when I placed a clear drinking glass on it, you easily missed it? (You can't miss it in one of the pictures below.) First visit was to their Batavia facility to take home samples and discuss approximate costs with a very knowledgeable and personable staff. Second visit was to my home to measure. Third was at their site with templates of my layout on the actual slab so I could see the grain and seam alignment as it would appear in finished countertop. This was fantastic because as much as I loved the pattern I had selected, I did not like the way it would appear completed. With NO pressure at all, I was encouraged to choose from similar patterns on their many other slabs of quartz so I could get the look I wanted. Templates were placed on another choice and the veins looked like they would match close at the seam. Three professionals arrived promptly at 8am and departed at 11am (perfectly as promised) and the finished job was more than I ever imagined. I had to really search for the seam but could only feel it as it is perfect... can you find it in the picture? (HINT: blue post-its align on seam in second image.)

I feel very lucky of finding Gabriella and her husband Dudek on yelp to work on my kitchen…read morebacksplash. I waited a whole year to find the right person to work on it. It was not an easy job. I bought the backsplash last year in the early fall and hired contractors to install. It turned out they have no idea how to work on glass tiles. The tile saw they had chipped the glass paint so badly that I have to let them stop after a few cut. It was a complete failure. Then I tried to install by myself, another failure. I hired another contractor in early Sep, another failure again. I was desperate. Lila tile was almost my last resort. If they can't do it, then I have no idea where I can go next. Luckily, Gabriella responded to me. She came to my house, took a few pix and a few pieces of the glass tile. She went home and sent back the pix of the cut Dudek made with his saw. I was so excited - the cut was much cleaner than all the ones anybody else made in the past. And their price quote is very reasonable. Without a doubt, I chose them to do the job. Ludek is very easy and friendly to work with. He is very patient and pays very good attention to the detail. He came up with an idea to make the outlet panel fit into the tile trim; he replaced the scratched pieces without a complaint; He did every touch up we asked for. And the list goes on. By the end of the job the finished look exceeded my expectation. Again I want to appreciate Ludek and Gabriella for turning my kitchen from a poorly-half-way-done disappointment to a beautiful new space I love to spend my time at.

The quality of the work has warranted the low rating. They did not order the correct quantity of carpet to begin with, which meant two occasions for installation. But I do understand mistakes can happen. However, I now see that should have been a flag. After less than 6 months, there are multiple very visible seams in several locations. The worst being in the middle of a hallway - a major area of the house. I had never ever seen a seam in any carpet ever before, any where, so it was strange and somewhat shocking. They did respond and schedule to fix it in a timely manner. However, after spending 3 hours to supposedly fix the issues, a week later, the seams are just as bad. This has colored the whole experience to be extremely disappointing and I would not recommend them. At least not for carpeting.

okay, I'll update here since they finally installed the small granite piece for my stove backsplash…read moreand accommodated my request for first thing in the am. The 3 guys who arrived called ahead 20 min, and were super careful to measure thrice and keep measuring and using a level as the piece dried. I felt very confident watching their concern to get the piece on the backsplash in an attractive and straight manner. They could not have been more professional. I'll say it once and say it again: when you deal with the salespeople at The Granite Corporation (that's their real name not "Granite") you kind of doubt that they have a clue about what they're selling. I don't know what will happen and it takes too long for them to finish up a sale, even though they mean well. However, when the measure & install team shows up, those are the people who really know what they're doing. They are top pros. I asked Sam, my sales person, how are they going to make sure the glue holds on a vertical application, and she did not know. I asked her if I should cover my stove, and she said, don't worry (of course, I did). When they showed up, they scored the back of both my backsplash and the new piece, so more glue would be applied. They applied glue all around the perimeter (not visable). They taped the piece in place and I put a spongy rug on my stove (just in case). They said, glue sets in 10 minutes and they held it that long, and it is good to go in a couple hours when I can take off tape. I would have liked to know that there would be a little granite dust in my kitchen ahead of time, to have removed everything from countertops, but they did hold up a vacuum while they scored my backsplash, so I cannot say that I see any dust (besides my own). They scored the new piece outside my house. The treasure here is the cutting, measuring & install team. They are premium craftsmen, very experienced and know how to communicate with the public. They're the ones who should be selling the granite!
