Menard's is the Temu of home improvement. They sell cheap crap. Every time I violate my personal rule of not buying from Menard's I regret it. Case in point now - I wanted a very basic snowblower. HD and Lowe's only had giant expensive fancy ones, so I got the basic one from Menard's. Right out of the box it doesn't even start. Take it back to the service desk and they can't start it either. The customer service at this Menards has really gone downhill. From the unhelpful people wandering the aisles to the surly "ready to go home so I don't care" cashiers. Also, why not just lower your prices instead of continually offering 11% off. I know you've gamed the number of people that actually bother to download the form, find a stamp and actually mail it in. So I'm not suggesting going down the full 11%. It's just really annoying. At this point, Ace is the Place even though it is a bit more expensive. It is so less aggravating. Managers need to be trained in customer sevice and how to achieve a productive store ! The employees can only reflect if there's a good manager. A good manager should be responsible for the happiness of his customers and his employees and also be responsible for the ratings and the complaints to have a successful store . I am a remodeler and have been going to the Batavia Menards for years. It is my go to store because I know they have everything that I need no mater what I am doing. I have found the guys at the service deck and the delivery desk are very helpful. The guys and girls in the kitchen department and the flooring and electrical departments are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have had issues over the years at the paint desk if no one is at the desk. Trying to find someone can sometimes be a challenge. I have walked out of Lowe's and Home Depot without what I need and question myself as to why I even stopped there, other than it might have been closer to the job site. read more

I was at this store first time in 10 months since the last Debacle This time I was up beat on shopping there I walked around looking for assistance Finally I found associate Haley T she was very professional got me setup with a picking list to go and get product was told by her and 3 other associates they would help loading it for me I got to the area and waited for 25 minutes and know one showed up I'm sorry I'm disabled had 3 Heart attacks and a stroke waiting for a heart Transplant I was in the retail business for 41 years and never treated people as I was Treated If one of my associates treated people like that they would be terminated on the spot To many businesses begging for my money The world of mouth can cripple a business This store has a reputation of very poor service I gave them one more chance From now on I will make sure I go over and beyond to watch there doors close Don't think you're to big to fail Hopefully I will see them close read more

Worst customer service ever. Delivery dumped dry wall and other items that should not be out in the elements in the front yard while it was raining. The store manager would not do anything and said "you got your stuff." We've spent over $30k in the past several months and that's the treatment we get!! They had told us they would deliver between 10am and 3pm and showed up at 6:45am. There was no one there to even accept the delivery so they dropped in the front yard and driveway. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND QUALITY IS A JOKE. Erich in fencing, Haley the manager for delivery and the General Manager Efrain are so unprofessional. We ordered a fence and got it delivered. Were told we would have a new bunk and got crap. The bunk was one on the lot, they put it on wood skids vs a pallet and piled the posts on top. The packaging itself was horrible and we received a damaged product. They wanted me to go through the fence to see what was damaged even though 50% of it was. The General Manager Efrain did NOTHING about it! I am beyond frustrated and honestly they should all be reported cause of how they handled the situation. I told them to take the whole thing back and with that since it wasn't properly packaged to begin with it ended up on my driveway. What a joke. Do not give this Menards your money!!!!!! I do not get the negative ratings. I was there yesterday and two employees asked me if I needed help. The store is always clean. The checkout lines are never long and I like it that you don't have to scan it yourself like you have to at the Home Depot or Walmart. The prices are competitive. Home Depot has a better paint department, but everything else is better at Menards including the indoor/outdoor lumbar yard and gardening. read more

Menards used to be my go to hardware store. I liked them better than Ace or Home Depot but I will no longer step foot into a Menards. I wish I could give them a lower rating since their customer service leaves much to be desired. I went to purchase supplies to repair an issue. I walked back to the building department and waited forever for the single employee to finish a conversation about windows. It didn't help that traffic and road construction had doubled the time it usually takes to get to my closest Menards and that I was on a clock since I needed to get to work immediately after and was now running late. I patently waited. When he finally finished the call, he finally turned his attention to me. I explained what I needed to do and stated I was in a hurry. He took me to the area where the supplies were and started to explain things when his phone rang again. Rather than ignore it, or answer and say he was with a customer. He took the call and I again had to wait. He finally finished. I stated I'm here, I'm in front of you wanting to give the store money, I'm in a hurry and you are making me wait for someone that might not even come into the store or give you any money. He replied he had to answer the phone. I replied he could have told them he was with a customer and hold one. I asked if he would now help me so I can get to work. He told me "NO". While I'm sure I'm not Menards biggest or one of their top customers, I have purchased many supplies there, 55 bags of mulch yearly, my grill and my sofa among other things but If that's the level of service they give their customers standing in front of them, I will never step foot in a Menards store again or give them any of my money. I've already used this story as a teaching moment to inform my staff the pitfalls of bad service to the customer standing in front of you. read more

Never buy padio furniture from menards. At the end of last year I purchased 3k worth of furniture only to build it this year and find out it ALL JUNK. I had to clean out the threaded holes on the table only to find out one of the legs was made wrong. Two chairs were missing parts, tried getting a hold of the manufacturer 5 times to get no response. One other chair was poorly made. The fire table I bought does not stay lit, has a bad valve I'm guessing. I WOULD NEVER TELL MY WORST ENEMY TO BUY THIS GARAGE. Hit or miss with customer service. Can be really helpful at times with recommendations, other times they can be nowhere to be found when you need assistance and looking lost. Came in to get a single piece of wood cut and was told they don't cut wood. (They do FYI) On another visit I tried explaining what I needed with pictures I took with my phone and examples of how its used which got me directed into an aisle that was way off from what I explained. He then got off topic on something different and asked me to try that instead....that didn't help me or my project at all. Not sure if his bloodshot eyes were a sign that I should just walk away and continue looking. Always good sale prices and cheaper pricing than other area places, just wish employees could reach out to other sources if they don't have an answer or unsure of something. read more

Door dept pointed me to the wrong bronze hinge set [one side round, the other square] when my door order was incorrectly delivered with stock brass. When I returned the MasterCraft brand hinge [store brand sold nowhere else] to the store to exchange for the correct hinge [both sides round]. Of course they were out of stock. I was in the middle of a huge reno with multiple contractors and needed the hinge asap. Amy in Customer Service didnt offer to double-check store stock, special order or even check inventory at another store. She had the nerve to look me in the eye and offer me ONE CENT refund for $20 worth of merch. [2] 3 hinge packs @ $9.98/each. I told her she might want to look up the THOUSANDS of $ in orders Ive placed at their store this past year. She refused. Shrugged and said they have no way to see that? Shameful. Needless to say I spent an hour digging thru all my reno receipts, returned the hinges to the store and went to Home Depot, who immediately found the correct hinge, and whose shelves were FULL as one would expect. People, I have personally experienced countless thoughtless screwups from multiple Menards locations on a whole home reno. Special orders randomly cancelled with zero notification, wrong product delivered. FedEx'ing materials at an obscene cost to me, instead of delivering from the store as contracted to do. Lost shipments. Never has anyone from mgmt apologized or made things right. Ray from corporate Customer Service is as incompetent as they come. Rude, obnoxious and unprofessional with every interaction. Zero follow thru. Just lame made up excuses. How he is still employed Ill never know. Stopped in today because I was trying to find a part for a ceiling fan. Of course Menards had it. It was easy to locate and everyone was helpful. I have attempted to find this part at other home improvement stores and they either didn't have it or no one knew where it was. I don't know why I don't always go here first since they have always had what I was looking for. I just wish they were a little closer to my house. What a positive experience! We called ahead to check if they had a table in stock after a few failed attempts at other hardware stores. They had what we were looking for and when I asked if they could bring it to customer service for us, they let us know they wouldn't be able to do that but they'd send someone back to bring it down from the shelf for us when we got there. When we finally arrived, a friendly employee directed us to the isle where we could find tables. On our way towards the back of the store, we saw someone bringing up the table we had called about. We asked if it was for a customer who called earlier and he said yes! Even though they said they weren't able to bring up items to customer service for customers calling in, they did it anyway! :) It was a nice surprise after how challenging it was for other local hardware stores to even find the table in the first place. read more

The only reason that this place got 2 stars from me is the young lady who helped me totally rig up what I needed from 2 different items she was awesome. Overall my experiences have been very very poor-granted I realize this is a hardware store and I do not expect to get the service I receive at Nordstrom but how about some service....any service....I always have to chase someone down an aisle to find someone for assistance...I felt bad for this associate one time I went there ...I guess a lot of us could not find someone to help us including myself there were 5 people waiting to ask one associate for assistance... The only time I am able to find someone to help me is late at night or really off hours...generally I can't find someone or when I do I have been sent to the wrong location more time than I can count...they never walk me to the location...they just kind of point and generally in the wrong direction. I generally go there when they have good deals (which unfortunately for me at least they have some great deals on stuff) or if I need something quickly they are just a hair closer to me than Home Depot or Lowes. read more

They ordered the wrong size and style vanity top and told me I would have to pay a 25% restocking fee to return it (he seemed to take great satisfaction on telling me this). Really upset with these guys right now. I am writing this for the store vs corporate because it is my experience that store leaders have authority to help on just about anything, but sometimes, like now, won't. Last Saturday 9/14 we purchased a new chainsaw from the brand Ardisam at this Menard's. We took it home, put gas & oil in it per the instructions and it did not start. The store refuses to take it back (per the store manager - not just returns), corporate wouldn't help because it was a gas powered vehicle, and having it serviced once (taking 5 days) it has now frozen up again (pretty sure this time for good). Our best bet now? Getting a completely rebuilt chainsaw from an authorized service person when we paid for a new one. Two weeks and still no working chainsaw. Im going to give this place a five star today. When you ask an employee at a home improvement place where something is, they walk you to where it may be, then realized they do not carry it... They respond with "I will email our buyer, because I do not believe you are the first to ask for this". Then apologizes to you and asks you to come back soon. Wow, I don't think I have met a person who really loved lawn mowers as much as the person who helped us out tonight at my local Menards. He knew the Consumer Reports status of each brand of mower, what kind of motor was in each machine.... I was throughly enthralled in mowers by the end of the night. (odd and very strange - I know) ~He even told us of the rebate deal that was coming up in the near future! I also want to give a shout out to my man in the garden center who spent one June morning with me discussing ph levels of soil needed for hydrangeas, how some won't bloom on new wood, and how only some of them will change color with manipulation of the soil. What can I say, its Menards. I worked at one in Northern Wisconsin for two years during college so I know what to expect for the most part. They're cheaper than Home Depot or Lowe's many times, but then again, those other stores are selling top brands and Menards is selling their own private label. Having worked the return desk for as long as I did, I know that the items manufactured specifically for Menards are cheaply made and any savings is negated by you having to return it several times. I only go here for things that even Menards can't screw up (and avoid their private labels). It's a great place for patio furniture, Christmas decorations and pipe fittings. You know, the basics. I suspect that they don't treat employees very well at this location either. I've lived in the area for 5 years and the "Now Hiring" sign has never come down and I usually get rude service (usually, not always). In my experience, places that are ALWAYS hiring are places that nobody wants to work at. The employees at Home Depot are usually obnoxiously helpful but at Menards they can be difficult to even find. I will say that this store is always very clean and the location is convenient however. read more

Does not seem to be any limit on customers inside at the same time, making effective social distancing very difficult. Customer masks are not enforced. Best hardware store I have been to in years. The staff is Very helpful. They tend to be 20's & 30's. Always know what area of the store when I ask about a specific item. They walk you to it unless you say you just need general directions. Helpful without giving the impression they are doing so because someone is watching. I almost always find what I need on the hundreds or perhaps thousands of shelves. I think, I don't know for sure, that management at this store must be alright. Usually when management is good the employees are good. I however never have really big projects like refinishing a bathroom. So I can't say how they are with that. Four stars because a place has to be highly exceptional to get 5. But this Menards is really really good. read more

Terrible customer service! Placed an order for a fridge and oven in June 2020. There were supply chain issues with the fridge and I was told I could cancel my order in November 2020. I agreed to cancel my order and was then told I could only receive store credit for the items they never delivered. After much back and forth I was told a refund had been approved and I would be receiving a check. I received a check Feb. 22 2021 but it was only for part of my order. I have now been told that since the oven could have been delivered they will only provide a store credit for that portion. If it could have been delivered why wasn't it? I asked their delivery coordinator to deliver that portion of the order multiple time back in October and November. It has been 8 months and I am still out of pocket for almost 1k for items they never delivered but took payment for. read more

Don't get me wrong, the back of the house were employees that were very friendly and willing to help my parents and I with finding a new door. Unfortunately, we were "helped" by employees who seemed like they had better things to do. One cashier didn't even say hello and/or smile, and when she charged us twice for an item there was no apology but she instead directed us to the "customer service" desk who weren't thrilled to help either. My suggestion, if you're going to be a grouch, don't be in a customer service position - there are plenty of other people who would be grateful to have your job and they'd probably be a lot nicer, too. read more

This place has changed quite a bit from a place I could always count on to have employees who knew everything about merchandise in their department to employees who don't seem to know or care what department they are in. I asked where a certain toilet paper was and the employee said 'if it's not there we don't have it'. Ah--yes they did in another part of the store. Another time brought in a towel bar that I needed a special screw for. I was told 'the little screws are over here'. It want a little screw it was a specialty screw.
