From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by one of the sweetest hosts, who made us feel genuinely welcome. We had made a reservation, and our table was ready immediately, making for a smooth and stress-free start to our meal. I would highly recommend making a reservation at least a day in advance--two days if you're visiting on a weekend or during peak travel times. It was clear this place is popular, and for good reason. Our server, Cody, truly made the experience unforgettable. Hands down, he is the best server I've ever had anywhere. He took the time to thoroughly walk us through the menu, explain the daily specials, answer all of our questions, and offer recommendations based on what we were looking for. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality elevated our entire dining experience. We ordered the pancakes, omelets, and of course, the famous biscuits. The biscuits absolutely deserve the hype! They were warm, buttery, fluffy, and practically melted in your mouth. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and delicious, and the omelets were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. One thing I really appreciated is that while Loveless Cafe offers a supper menu in the evenings, breakfast is served all day. That's perfect for anyone like me who believes breakfast tastes good no matter what time it is! It's easy to see why Loveless Cafe has become such a Nashville staple. Between the warm Southern hospitality, outstanding service, and incredible food, this was an experience we'll be talking about long after breakfast. If you're visiting Nashville, or even if you're a local who hasn't been yet, put Loveless Cafe at the top of your list. And if you're lucky enough to have Cody as your server, you're in for an exceptional experience!

Bless…read moreblondie's heart, he'd never been out to Leiper's Fork, so I was both parts excited for the scenic drive & hopeful that the Country Boy would provide a Yum factor. Spoiler alert! It did. In this area, I'm often trepidatious when it comes to popular restaurants. My fear is mainly that the establishment will be too charmed with itself, heavily curated, and more like a photo backdrop than a place to eat. Thankfully, my fears were unfounded when it came to the Country Boy. Between the two of us, we ordered the Country Boy Breakfast, The Hillsboro & a chocolate chip pancake (and coffees, of course). I felt like we could have fed the whole village of Leiper's Fork, but the guy across from me found the portions go be exactly mathematically accurate (he ate all of his and half of mine). The biscuits were soft, pillowy, perfection. I imagine the closest Italian equivalent would be someone's Nonna's centuries-old secret gnocchi recipe. We scarfed everything down while stealing glances at each other which wordlessly spoke, "Where are we? Is this where Waffle House got its inspiration? Can I be buried here?" etc. I will close with the words of an old philosopher, (that one redhead girl on Vine), "Country Boy I love yoooou.... aaaaaaah :P"

I always get the half order of catfish fillet, usually with a baked potato, and I have NEVER been disappointed. No joke, some of the best catfish I have had in my life! I was able to go last week while visiting, and tried the spicy catfish fillet for the first time. The breading was a little thicker than their regular fillet, but crisp and full of flavor without being overly spicy. The sides are served family style, which is dangerous for me, because I could easily take down a family's worth of creamy coleslaw, white beans with red pepper relish, and hushpuppies before my catfish even has an opportunity to get to the table. Those hushpuppies..... soooooo good! Nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Large parking lot out front with the iconic Catfish statue alerting everyone that they got the right place for catfish. The interior is unassuming, and according to my dad, hasn't changed much in the last 50 years. It's clean though, and in my opinion, if you have a good thing going, then why change? The staff is super nice, and they take cash and card. Please NEVER change Catfish Kitchen!

It's a small restaurant with a hometown feel - tables inside and a larger table in a side room. It's counter ordering with a large diverse menu. Kids menu items were great including Mac n cheese and chicken strips and fries. All came with a drink. Main entrees included hot items (shrimp & grits, meatloaf), salads, sandwiches and lots of vegetarian items. They also have a dessert area with large cookies, pies, etc. Our family ordered the kids chicken tenders, chicken tender wrap, BLT and turkey club sandwiches with fries. We also tried the fried okra. The fries were delicious and tasted homemade - the sandwiches were good. My sandwich was missing mayo which I didn't notice until after I was done eating. The food was delicious, the drinks were cold, and the live music truly made the visit memorable. It wasn't just background entertainment--it created an atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we planned. Fox & Locke perfectly captures the charm of Leiper's Fork. (3.5/5 stars) I've…read morebeen to Fox & Lock many times over the years, enough to try nearly everything on the menu. It's a solid, casual meat-and-three that's become a gathering place for both locals and visitors. The friendly staff and frequent live music create a lively atmosphere, and if you're already coming to Leipers Fork for a show, it's a great place to grab a meal beforehand. The menu offers classic Southern comfort food with rotating daily specials. The pulled pork is one of the more consistent meats, although I've had it arrive perfectly tender on some visits and a bit dry on others. The second meat changes throughout the week, which keeps things interesting for repeat customers. I've worked my way through all of the sides, and the fried okra is easily my favorite. It's consistently served hot and crispy, though I think a signature seasoning blend would make it even better. The macaroni and cheese is another standout, although I've occasionally received it lukewarm. The sweet potato fries are also enjoyable but could use a little more crispness, and I think they'd really shine with a house-made dipping sauce like a hot honey mustard. The green beans appear to be canned, which doesn't personally bother me, but they leave an unusual aftertaste that keeps me from ordering them often. The collard greens have good flavor but tend to include more stems than I'd prefer. The baked beans lean savory rather than sweet, which may appeal to some diners, though I usually prefer sweeter baked beans with barbecue. The mashed potatoes are simple and would benefit from the option of either cream gravy or brown gravy. One item that always kept me coming back was the chicken fingers. For a long time, they were some of my favorites in the area--crispy, flavorful, and good enough that I've driven out from Nashville just to order them. Recently, however, the breading seems to have changed, and they haven't quite been the same. The onion rings are another reliable choice, arriving consistently crispy, though I think they'd be even better paired with a signature dipping sauce or seasoning. Overall, I think the atmosphere is what makes Fox & Lock special. The staff is consistently welcoming, the live music is excellent, and it's an important part of the Leipers Fork community. If you're visiting the area for the music or exploring the town, it's absolutely worth stopping in for a meal. While I don't think the food alone is worth making a special trip from Nashville, it's enjoyable comfort food in a fun setting and a place I'm sure I'll continue to visit.

But highly specialized foreign cuisine like Indian, Vietnamese, or in this case Korean, is typically found in the big city. It doesn't just happen in random places. One would think those can't exist beyond the suburban reaches of a heavily populated area. And they preferably occur in a neighborhood with a significant ethnic population that guarantees the demand for authenticity. When I saw the phenomenal online ratings for Fat Tiger, a greatly heralded Korean joint on the periphery of the Nashville metropolitan area, way out in the countryside by city slickers' standards, I wondered if it was too good to be true. Were these ratings inflated, or was this a hidden gem people need to know about? The only way to discover the truth was to drive myself out there. Boy was that drive worth it! Fat Tiger is legit! While my standards are unreasonably lofty after eating copious dishes in South Korea on several occasions, the recipes made at Fat Tiger passed down from a Korean grandmother are spot on! It's thinly shaved spicy pork marinated in a gochujang rub, pleasantly spicy but not so hot that you couldn't enjoy it. That was absolute perfection!
