Been there twice. 1st time service was Teriable! Order 7 dinners only one was well liked. Most were cold. Some very bland. 2nd time was truly a disaster. The chicken in the Alfredo was raw!!! How do you slice chicken and put it on a plate and not notice that it is raw! I picked up the plate and brought it back to the cook. Which was the owner. He acted like a dear in headlights. It was okay. We came in were seated in the back. Our table had a few seats facing a bathroom and we saw a few people change their babies dippers while we were waiting for our food. They were out of wings at 7:30 on a Saturday which I thought was a little strange. Food was okay! Huge portions. We sat next to the Wood pizza oven so we saw how they made the pizzas. Very nice place, for such a small town. The dining area is eloquent, not crowded at all. Tables are spaced out far enough where you're not crowding others. One downside to dining area is its right next to bar area, which is really loud. If you don't mind hearing obnoxious drunks, you'll be fine. We were still able to hold conversations at our table. Food was OUTSTANDING! Very flavorful, and you better come with a HUGE appetite! The portions are large, you'll end up needing a box to go . We didn't try it but they boast of having best wood fired pizza around. Salad was fresh that came with meal but a bit on skimpy side. Place was very clean, even bathrooms! Terrible visit. Table of 7 took over 1 hr and 15 minutes before the food came out. No drinks or apologize for the wait. 2 of the meals were so cold they didn't eat them. Then when the checks came the scallops I ordered on the menu for $18 but on the bill for $25. (Only 5 scallops by the way and they were cold). I mentioned to the waitress and brought it to the owners attention but he wouldn't honor it, just told her the price went up. To top it off the credit machine went down ( that stuff happens) but added another 20 minutes to our terrible night. Never had an experience out like that without the owner either apologizing or trying to making it right. I feel terrible for the waitress none of it was her fault. Being at a local establishment, its very disappointing. Not going back. read more

Last night was our second visit to Tavern 19, but the first visit was a birthday party, so food was ordered ahead and put out for all, so I thought I would hold off on a Review until we went back in a smaller group. We made a Reservation, though it was not an overly busy night, which was great. The Hostess and our Waitress were both very friendly and attentive, which we appreciated. The Menu itself is amazingly full of a huge variety, but my husband and I both chose from the nightly specials. We started off with Lobster Cakes as an Appetizer. They had great flavor but were lacking in the chunks of Lobster, and were more breading than I prefer. Lobster Cakes/Crab Cakes are always a gamble anytime you are not in a seafood mecca, but overall, they were OK. My husband ordered the Prime Rib and had a side of Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The Prime Rib was buttery and exactly as he ordered. I tasted his potatoes and they were dreamy, creamy, and had wonderful garlic flavor. A++ I ordered the Grilled Pork Loin over (wait for it....) Bacon, Apricot and Goat Cheese Risotto. Oh Em Gee... the Risotto was amazing!!! The Grilled Pork Loin was a bit tougher than I anticipated, I thought it would be easier to cut with the butter knife I was given. The Pork was just so-so for me, but the Risotto was to-die-for. They had a variety of homemade desserts, and not the typical "Cheesecake, Cannoli, Rootbeer Float" Dessert Menu I seem to see everywhere lately. (Why is a Rootbeer Float a dessert all of a sudden?) Anyways, we chose to share the Mocha Mousse. It was very rich and flavorful. Almost too rich, so I am glad we shared. The staff was great, warm and inviting ambiance, and all in all, a nice evening. Had the worst dinner ever at The Tavern 19 on St. Patrick's Day. There were 4 of us that evening. We ordered 2 appetizers to share in addition to our dinners. Our salads came before the appetizers. The appetizers came before we had finished our salads and our dinners came before we had finished the appetizers. 3 of us opted for the prime rib which came barely warm and not to order. Well done was medium. Medium rare was nearly raw. The St. Patrick's Day tradition of corned beef and cabbage that the 4th member of our group ordered was stringy meat, mushy cabbage and carrots too salty to eat. The wait for food after placing an order for a wood fired pizza was more than 30 minutes. When the pizza arrived at the table, the entire bottom was burned black. The waitress apologized but offered no replacement or refund. The pizza cost $25.00. Went here for an early dinner, a 4:30 seating to be exact!! It was empty and we had the choice of tables in the dinning room. The service was friendly and attentive the entire length of our visit ( about 3 hours). The four of us shared the mix plate of appetizer which was a ton of food and comparible in taste to any restaraunt. I had the beef sandwhich which was melt in my mouth outstanding!! The place filled up quickly with folks of all ages and it became very loud and noticeable that you could easily listen to the conversations at any of the tables close by. Its a place I would revisit if I'm in the mood for a nice beef sandwich. read more

We waited forever for our food until our dinner showed up. When it arrived I asked where the salads were that we were supposed to get prior to dinner. On November 8, 2014...yes I know it was almost a year ago, I had a horrible experience at this restaurant. I am writing this review because the owner is denying events that took place. On what was supposed to be a lovely evening celebrating my husband's birthday, we had a disgusting dining experience at this place. The place was not crowded, so no excuse. All 4 of our dinners came out of the kitchen cold. My friend's wife had RAW chicken served with her meal. When her husband complained, NOTHING was done. He showed the chef the chicken. The waitress, who seemed lost, wanted to comp us a dessert. I regret not calling the health department on Tavern 19 the next day.If the owner and chef (maybe the same person) does not want to own up to his incompetence, then why should the public put themselves at risk. Went with a party of 4. Two out of the four meals were very good. I got the pizza. I didn't realize the crust was paper thin except for the sides. The pizza was just a cheese peperoni but very runny under the cheese. Wasn't something I would ever order there again. I'm not a paper thin crust pizza lover with runny juices. The steak looked very good. Service was great but SLOW. Waitress was fabulous. Nice atmosphere but was lit up to bright at first then notice the lighting was lowered. Would I go again? I believe dinner is only served Wednesday through Saturday-- but check on that prior to going! My boyfriend and I stopped in here last night and we had a great experience. Great place. Would give 5 stars, but the service (as noted by other Yelper's was a little slow). Wife had the pizza which was excellent. I elected for the Grouper fish fry, which I would never normally order. The fish was moist and battered perfectly. Came with a generous amount of fries and fresh slaw. First of all I'd like to say the experience at Tavern 19 was not very good last night I went there with my fiancé sat in the dining room we were escorted to the table and thought that the place looks very nice we waited about 10 minutes before we actually were greeted at the dinner table where there was no silverware at the table and when we did get silverware it didn't match I actually ate with a seafood fork after a few trips to and from our table we were able to make our order. The $5 salad was just lettuce 2small tomatoes and 1 small Pepperoncini. after about 45 minutes our order came out and it was not cooked properly and one chicken dish was raw. when the dish came back it was not complete with its original side. we noticed that the hostess and the server were not as attentive to our table as we would've expected in all fairnessThe food was good but the fact that we were there for about 2hours for two dinners did not make us happy. The two tables next to us we noticed also we're not happy one table seafood behind us said they were cold and one table next to us return their entrée and said they would not be back. We decided to try Tavern 19 for a fish fry last night before going to visit a friend who is sick. 2.5 hours for a fish fry is ridiculous and getting out at 9 pm was too late to visit our friend. If Iraq had pizza like Tavern 19, and the Israelites found out, we would have no Middle East conflict. But alas they do not, and as a result we will always have Middle East conflicts. The best part is that Hamlin is not as far away as Iraq, and you can get great pizza at a reasonable price in a setting that is more reminiscent as a 3.5 star bar and lounge (out of 4), than a darn war zone. Stopped here on a Sunday night, had a nice dinner. Wood fired pizza was fantastic. Some good choices we tried the four corners pizza which was a sample of four different recipes. Excellent and by far the best was the vodka sauce pizza. Run by two brothers that also own Charlotte tavern. Very nice guys and good service, prices are reasonable. Only negative place was slow and a few locals at the bar. We're just having a good time but you would have thought they were at a kiss concert the way they were yelling at each other when there standing next to one another. This restaurant is owned by the same owner as Charlotte tavern. We've been here once and there twice. Each of the three times were a disappointment for various reasons. I'm not sure how these places stay in business. Even when it's good it's just OK. Two of us visited Tavern 19 with a Groupon. I had French dip with French fries and split pea soup. The soup was very tasty but too thick and contained a walnut sized bone and three good sized pieces of cartilidge in one small cup of soup. That's not an accident. Someone didn't strain the broth. My meal was a French dip. It was on a sandwich sized roll and contained a fairly generous serving of beef. The beef was hand cut into thick pieces of about 1/4 inch. It was tender and well seasoned but was very well done and the consistency of pot roast. I'm fairly certain both meals come from the same roast. It was a pot roast sandwich and should be named so and served with gravy. My husband had a cheeseburger without much flavor. Both of our fries were undercooked even though we requested well done. While the restaurant itself is beautifully done, the food did not match the atmosphere. I think they're having money trouble as the restaurant was cold, under 70 and the water in the bathroom never warmed up to even tepid even though I let it run a very long time. I hate that! Putting out all the Groupons in the world won't help if the food isn't good. Charlotte Tavern was just as disappointing. I enjoyed my chicken French both times there but neither of my husband's meals were good. One was downright bad. Not us not again. read more

Well most places would make me a stronger drink and show real customer service. Not just take it off the bill. I eat out alot all over Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse. I used to work in a bar. The Tavern 19 is beautifully restored. It is large while still being homey and charming. The game room is a great casual place to hang out. The wood fired pizza oven smells amazing as you enter the restaurant. Good beer and wine selection. If you like the Charlotte Tavern, you'll love this place. Same great family owns and runs both. I live just around the corner & decided to try it after a long work day. Inviting my Grandson to join me, we were immediately seated in the outer porch like dining room and greeted by a friendly waitress who was just great! The place is immaculate and tastefully decorated. The pub area looks like fun & they were very friendly when we entered. I had the Shrimp Alexander and he ordered Veal Marsala. They were fantastic, well cooked, nice presentation, enough for take home/huge portions! The only complaint I had was the salad was a bit tired and skimpy, but the bread was hot, crispy and fresh to make up for that. All in all..we will go back happily ! read more

Let me start by saying I am a very hard person to please when it comes to dining out. I grew up in and around the restaurant business and have worked in them as well. I have been looking for a great place to get prime rib for a very long time(close to 10 years), I have found a few that are OK to pretty good but last night I found one that was EXCELLENT! Tavern 19 is my new favorite place to go for prime rib. The food is excellent, the service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are spectacular. I ordered the Tavern cut which was HUGE! I like my prime rib cooked rare actually more like warmed up just beyond raw. Not many places can do it and do it right, they did it perfect! My girlfriend had the surf and strip, 10 oz Brazilian lobster tail with a 10 oz strip all cooked perfectly. The staff is attentive without hovering or being pushy. We never had to ask for a refill on our drinks. They have something on the menu for everyone at all price levels. It is a very comfortable casual atmosphere which made the dinner just that much more enjoyable. If you enjoy upscale food at reasonable prices in a casual atmosphere you will be hard pressed to find any place better. We will definitely be going back to try the wood fired pizza and many other great items off the menu. Thanks for a great evening. read more

I've lived in Hamlin for over 20 years. I've seen this place change hands time and time again. I had no intention to ever go back, but a family member gave us a groupon. It was the last day it was good. WOW! WERE WE IMPRESSED. I had a fish sandwich. Well it was a perfect dipalo hard roll, with an entire 10 inch fish fry on the top of it. If you're from upstate NY, you know what a real fish fry is. The fries were perfect and heaped. Fat guys like me like lots. My wife got artichoke french over angel hair. It was delicious with plenty to bring home. They brought us two baskets of oven hot bread with herbs. Absolutely wonderful! I talked to the owner about the wood fired pizza oven. They even have a take out menu. My daughter babysits for a local family who went the next night for pizza. My daughter had a piece of cold left over pizza from Tavern 19 and said it was absolutely AMAZING! Even the next day. I heard the owner talking and saying they put the prime rib in the wood oven for a bit, to get a bit of smokey flavor. Right up my alley. We'll be back for sure. How nice to have a nice place local. Totally remodeled. I see the parking lot filling up more and more every weekend. We went on a Wednesday at 4:00 and three tables were full by 4:30. They bring the cold water in a nice cold blue bottle, which is a nice touch. Our meals were under 11 dollars. We'll be back!
