We stopped in before hitting Costco today. The hostess was lovely and very friendly. We arrived at 5:35 pm and our food didn't come out until 6:30 pm. Mind you it was just me, my husband and my infant son. Mary our waitress was constantly about informing us the kitchen was backed up which we appreciated but the restaurant itself wasn't overly busy. Thank goodness we got Guac to hold us over. It was decent. The house salsa was horrible and I questioned if it was old or just lacking seasoning. Upon frequenting this establishment....the One negative thing I noticed was how the manager (the bald guy) walked around and acted high and mighty over employees. We ordered two beers, a dip trio, the three-taco special with rice, and a crunch wrap. I'm giving them two stars due to the lack of seasoning on the dishes and the service. I stopped here for a late lunch when traveling from Georgia to north Carolina after I got gas nearby. I was seated right away and a young lady came to take my order. She was very patient as I asked several questions and she was excellent at explaining the menu. She brought out some chips and salsa and I was surprised at how good they were. I usually eat very few chips but I had a hard time not eating all of these. They are crispy and light and have great seasoning!! Awesome! I decided on a chicken crunch wrap which is similar to a quesadilla but grilled. The filling was good but could have been a lot more... there was plenty of room for more inside. The Taco Stache in Pooler, GA is a really cool local sports bar that specializes in tacos and good vibes! I was helped by Ashley, and she is super fun and friendly! Everything here sounds so delicious and they even offer a military discount. I ordered the 3 taco plate: the Rich Uncle, the Pinkerton, and the Swashbuckler with tater tots! The tacos are small-fairly sized, but packed with flavor! I didn't even have to use any sauces. I enjoy how it's not dense and the tortilla is so soft! The swashbuckler is DELICIOUS! Finger licking good and I enjoyed the mayo salsa with that chipotle aioli! Ughhhhh sooooo good! I'm getting it again and again! The Pinkerton is RIDICULOUS! Like ridiculously good! I haven't been here for awhile but I am glad we stopped in a bite. The service was quick and the waitress was very nice. We ordered chips salsa and guacamole which was excellent. The guacamole is a bit pricey but it is fresh and very flavorful. We had the lemon pepper chicken which had great flavor and received a decent amount with the order and it was excellent. Also ordered a half order of nachos with shrimp and it was excellent. I love the chips and I would say there was not a ton of shrimp on it but what was there had a great flavor. I work in the area and was recommended by coworkers to try out The Taco Stache. I ordered online for pick up, and was under the impression this was a fast-casual style restaurant. Turns out it is a full service, sit down restaurant and bar. I was worried the food was going to the soggy by the time I got back to work to eat, but was actually pleasantly surprised. When I was ordering, the menu stated the tacos come with a side. I was not able to choose a side for free, so I hoped they would put one in the bag for me. I did not receive a side. I meant to ask for one, but was distracted by 4 employees not wearing a mask so I forgot. This is not technically a requirement in Pooler, but local businesses should be supporting their community. -1 star for not masking. When I walked in, a bartender loudly shouted for me to sit where I want. I approached the bar and said I had a to-go order. She handed me a check to sign (I paid with a card online) and put the food on the bar. The bartender was friendly enough but the interaction was brief. I absolutely love the concept for The Taco Stache. They offer creative tacos that you order a la cart. This is more of a California taco place, so don't expect authentic Mexican tacos...but that is the point, they offer tacos that you won't find anywhere else. They serve tacos with corn tortillas by default, but you can ask for flour if you prefer. Here is what we ordered on this takeout visit, including our two favorites. THE VILLIAN - my favorite taco. Fried cauliflower, tomatillo chow chow, honey chili sauce, cotija cheese. Obviously not Mexican, and more Asian. It is the one taco that is super delicious and OMG worthy. THE COWBOY - my wife's favorite. fried chicken, pimento cheese, tomatillo chow chow, scallion. If there was ever a definition of American bar food taco then this is it. It's tasty. THE LAMB TACO - limited time - marinated, grilled lamb, cucumber, tomato, green onion salsa, rosemary red pepper drizzle. I found the lamb to be a bit chewy and the pepper drizzle wasn't spicy enough for me. QUESO Super disappointed with the queso. Tasted like carnival nacho cheese that comes in a can. We ordered it with chorizo and the chorizo didn't even come mixed in. We had to mix ourselves - weird. ATMOSPHERE The inside is cozy and is a nice modern feel, but nothing over done. They added an outside porch seating area soon after they opened which was a fantastic idea! I recently moved to the area, and I'm really impressed with the health and safety standards of this restaurant. From the touch less handle on the bathroom door to the QR scanner for menus, I felt at ease during my outdoor dining experience. The outdoor area is covered which helps. So literally 1 min after she leaves from taking our drink orders another waitress comes to let us know she's taking care of us because our waitress was having personal issues. She then proceeds to ask for our drink orders AGAIN... I was really annoyed at this point because it hadn't even been a minute. The service is awful here. I won't visit this place again solely for that reason. Food is not that good either. Just ok. We paid $44 for 5 tacos and a side of beans. The price isn't justified by the food or service. All in all as I previously stated I wouldn't recommend this place. It's a nice concept but the service and the food definitely take away from the potential this place has. read more

After doing some shopping at the Tanger Outlets, I suggested going to The Taco Stache (TTS) to my husband as I had heard it had opened recently. I'm always in the mood for a good taco, I mean, aren't you? TTS is located in The Commons at Savannah Quarters. - Parking - Center lot. - Vibe - The store front is unassuming. Nothing fancy, just the restaurant logo. Very simple and clean. Then, you open the doors and the first thing that catches your eye(s) is the bar which is the centerpiece. The bar is tiled with a cool, black and white design and they have barstools in bright red, my favorite color! On the back wall of the bar, right in the center, is a bright, neon green (mou)stache hanging on a faux microgreen panel as its background with flat screen TVs everywhere. There are high tops in the middle and tables on either end of the restaurant. While we were there, there was some construction going on which was nothing major or loud. I think the guys were finishing up what looks like an outdoor seating area. That will be nice once this heat goes away! - TLC - On the way to the restaurant, I saw that TTS has a waitlist option on Yelp, but opted not to use it as the wait was less than 5 minutes. Upon arrival, we were greeted immediately and seated right away. Bailey was our waitress and she was a sweetheart. She gave us a quick intro of their offerings and explained the difference between the Lunch and Dinner menu. She came back to check on us often and made sure our waters and drinks were always filled. - Eats/Bevvies - I ordered a Sweet Tea, but they also offer Coke products. My husband had one of their beers on tap. They seem to have a good drink list. Lunch - I got the Taco Mix & Match, 3 for $11. There is a 2 for $8 option, but what's one more taco? Besides, I was hungry. The difference between the Lunch and Dinner menu, by the way, is that they have limited the taco choices down to six kinds at lunch, while offering the full selection of 12 kinds at night. Here's where the stache comes in. All their tacos are named after a stache. I was kind of disappointed that none of the staff members were sporting one haha. They've kept the menu simple which I appreciate (especially since I get so indecisive and FOMO is real for me) and limited to other things like different quesadillas and a few bowl options. Nothing worse than reading a booklet and then being bombarded with too many options and then not being able to make a decision, all while getting hangrier by the minute. My 3 choices were: Fu Man Chu - I read "Korean BBQ" and being Korean, I'm always intrigued, so of course I ordered it. Nothing Korean about it, neither the name nor the taco. However, I still enjoyed it. The flavor was good and I'd order it again. It was a good piece of brisket and the slaw added a good crunch to it. El Bandito - Both my husband and I ordered this one and I think we must have gotten a fatty batch, but there was more fat than pork. I didn't mind the pork fat because there is a lot of it in Korean food. It's great flavor and I'm used to it, but my husband was disappointed with this one. I thought that the pineapple was a great combo with the pork. The Swashbuckler - This was just a solid, shrimp taco. It had grilled shrimp, salsa, cilantro, chipotle crema and cotija cheese. This was a great choice! Husband had El Bandito, Fu Man Chu and the Cowboy and his fave was the Cowboy. It has Fried Chicken and pimento cheese among other things. Basically it was all Southern. I didn't even get a chance to taste it, so you'll have to take his word for it or check it out for yourself. All tacos come by default, on corn tortillas, so if you want them on flour tortillas like I did (gasp, I know, I just can't do corn unless they are fried), make sure you mention that to your server. The Mix and Match comes with one choice of side, so I chose rice and Husband chose salad and the Tabasco vinaigrette upon Bailey's recommendation. The salad was great with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, sliced red onion, topped with cotija cheese. Wow! We both agreed the Tabasco vinaigrette was awesome! It was not really spicy, but so flavorful! I didn't care for the rice as I thought it was a bit dry. - Kiddos - For the restaurant being a sports bar atmosphere, it's nice to know that TTS has fully acknowledged the potential for families to walk in and there were many that Sunday afternoon. There is only one Kids Meal option, but it is printed on the main menu, as if to say, "Parents, we gotchu!" As a parent, I appreciate that and the meal is offered at a great value. For only $5, the meal includes a Cheese Quesadilla with a side of sauce, rice and beans with drink included. Can't beat that deal! It's so nice to have another fresh and flavorful option to go to in Pooler besides the big chain restaurants right off of 95 and another reason why TTS makes Pooler a little cooler! read more
