We stopped in before hitting Costco today. The hostess was lovely and very friendly. We arrived at 5:35 pm and our food didn't come out until 6:30 pm. Mind you it was just me, my husband and my infant son. Mary our waitress was constantly about informing us the kitchen was backed up which we appreciated but the restaurant itself wasn't overly busy. Thank goodness we got Guac to hold us over. It was decent. The house salsa was horrible and I questioned if it was old or just lacking seasoning. I got a chorizo fajita bowl which tasted nothing like chorizo. My husband got fu man chew tacos. It was basically just slathered in BBQ sauce. The staff was lovely and if it wasn't for them I would leave lesser stars. We ordered two beers, a dip trio, the three-taco special with rice, and a crunch wrap. I'm giving them two stars due to the lack of seasoning on the dishes and the service. The highlight was the corn. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're seeking authentic tacos; it felt more like a Tex-Mex experience. I stopped here for a late lunch when traveling from Georgia to north Carolina after I got gas nearby. I was seated right away and a young lady came to take my order. She was very patient as I asked several questions and she was excellent at explaining the menu. She brought out some chips and salsa and I was surprised at how good they were. I usually eat very few chips but I had a hard time not eating all of these. They are crispy and light and have great seasoning!! Awesome! I decided on a chicken crunch wrap which is similar to a quesadilla but grilled. The filling was good but could have been a lot more... there was plenty of room for more inside. Everything here sounds so delicious and they even offer a military discount. I ordered the 3 taco plate: the Rich Uncle, the Pinkerton, and the Swashbuckler with tater tots! The tacos are small-fairly sized, but packed with flavor! I didn't even have to use any sauces. I enjoy how it's not dense and the tortilla is so soft! The swashbuckler is DELICIOUS! Finger licking good and I enjoyed the mayo salsa with that chipotle aioli! Ughhhhh sooooo good! I'm getting it again and again! The Pinkerton is RIDICULOUS! Like ridiculously good! I haven't been here for awhile but I am glad we stopped in a bite. The service was quick and the waitress was very nice. We ordered chips salsa and guacamole which was excellent. The guacamole is a bit pricey but it is fresh and very flavorful. We had the lemon pepper chicken which had great flavor and received a decent amount with the order and it was excellent. Also ordered a half order of nachos with shrimp and it was excellent. I love the chips and I would say there was not a ton of shrimp on it but what was there had a great flavor. It also came with salsa. The tacos are delicious! I choose their mix and match deal. You get three tacos of your choice and a side for thirteen dollars. My three tacos were: fu man chu, handlebar, & bahn mi. I choose beans for my side. I enjoyed every bite of my tacos. The beans were ok. I will probably try a different side next time. Their menu is vast. It has something to please many tastes and allergy concerns. Just ask your server for suggestions. The service was excellent. This was our first time at Taco Stache. We had a few questions. She answered everything for us. Our food came out quickly. It was hot and timed well. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. There is a long banquette all the way to the back wall. It has a long bar on the right side when you enter. Televisions are strategically placed on the walls as well. I eat at the Stache on a regular basis and the staff are extremely friendly. They never make me wait long for my food which comes out hot and tasty. I rarely need a "to go" box! More often than not, you will see the owner walking around making sure that the customers are satisfied and receiving great service. The menu has diverse options so there is plenty to choose from, even for picky eaters and kids. The adult beverages are cold, and the bartenders know what they are doing. I work in the area and was recommended by coworkers to try out The Taco Stache. I ordered online for pick up, and was under the impression this was a fast-casual style restaurant. Turns out it is a full service, sit down restaurant and bar. I was worried the food was going to the soggy by the time I got back to work to eat, but was actually pleasantly surprised. When I was ordering, the menu stated the tacos come with a side. I was not able to choose a side for free, so I hoped they would put one in the bag for me. I did not receive a side. I meant to ask for one, but was distracted by 4 employees not wearing a mask so I forgot. This is not technically a requirement in Pooler, but local businesses should be supporting their community. -1 star for not masking. When I walked in, a bartender loudly shouted for me to sit where I want. I approached the bar and said I had a to-go order. She handed me a check to sign (I paid with a card online) and put the food on the bar. The bartender was friendly enough but the interaction was brief. I absolutely love the concept for The Taco Stache. They offer creative tacos that you order a la cart. This is more of a California taco place, so don't expect authentic Mexican tacos...but that is the point, they offer tacos that you won't find anywhere else. THE FOOD "Tacos" is in the name of this joint so you need to order the tacos. They are good, and creative, but not OMG worthy in my humble opinion. They serve tacos with corn tortillas by default, but you can ask for flour if you prefer. Here is what we ordered on this takeout visit, including our two favorites. THE VILLIAN - my favorite taco. Fried cauliflower, tomatillo chow chow, honey chili sauce, cotija cheese. Obviously not Mexican, and more Asian. It is the one taco that is super delicious and OMG worthy. THE COWBOY - my wife's favorite. fried chicken, pimento cheese, tomatillo chow chow, scallion. If there was ever a definition of American bar food taco then this is it. It's tasty. THE LAMB TACO - limited time - marinated, grilled lamb, cucumber, tomato, green onion salsa, rosemary red pepper drizzle. I found the lamb to be a bit chewy and the pepper drizzle wasn't spicy enough for me. QUESO Super disappointed with the queso. Tasted like carnival nacho cheese that comes in a can. We ordered it with chorizo and the chorizo didn't even come mixed in. We had to mix ourselves - weird. ATMOSPHERE The inside is cozy and is a nice modern feel, but nothing over done. They added an outside porch seating area soon after they opened which was a fantastic idea! I recently moved to the area, and I'm really impressed with the health and safety standards of this restaurant. From the touch less handle on the bathroom door to the QR scanner for menus, I felt at ease during my outdoor dining experience. The outdoor area is covered which helps. All staff wore masks and they were all very nice. There is plenty of parking and a the drinks are great. I ordered 3 tacos for $12, corn salsa, some extras, and two drinks for about $40. Ad an old fashioned type, I don't like having to scan a QR code to access the menu. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Yep, most everything they have are tacos, few other options. I ordered the fajita bowl. It came with five tortillas. The fajita mixture had good flavor. I had chicken. Unfortunately my chicken was tough and overcooked. Also, I had to ask for each topping. At this type of restaurant. I would have thought they would give you a tray with sour cream, jalapeños, guacamole,onions, pico, etc., but no, you had to ask for them. :(. I understand servers check IDs but her tone was really rude when she requested them from us. So literally 1 min after she leaves from taking our drink orders another waitress comes to let us know she's taking care of us because our waitress was having personal issues. She then proceeds to ask for our drink orders AGAIN... I was really annoyed at this point because it hadn't even been a minute. The service is awful here. I won't visit this place again solely for that reason. Food is not that good either. Just ok. We paid $44 for 5 tacos and a side of beans. The price isn't justified by the food or service. All in all as I previously stated I wouldn't recommend this place. It's a nice concept but the service and the food definitely take away from the potential this place has. read more
