I've tried other shops in Austin but none gave me the confidence to go back time and time again. Amber has been doing my hair for over a year now, religiously. She is truly masterful and not just with cuts. She has helped my hair look better, healthier and even helped make sure my beard was conditioned and soft by recommending the right products. If you are letting someone else cut your hair, you're doing it wrong!

My hair is also healthier than its ever been. The vibes are always amazing, every stylist is so talented 10 stars if yelp would allow.

Curly girls, you know how hard it is to pick a new stylist. At worst, we get someone who whacks at…read moreour hair in giant chunks or *shudders* thinks a straight cut is a good idea. At best, we find a stylist who cuts at an angle, understands layering, and maybe dials it up with a razor for texture. I thought I had experienced top-notch curly cuts, and then Carla Estevez moved the bar. I found Carla via a friend-recommendation, and I've referred her many times since. Here's what makes her stand out in my mind: she curates curls like she's sculpting, rather than cutting them in a traditional way. My first cut, I needed a complete reshape, so she did The Usual that I'm familiar with to get reasonable layers. Then she dried it...and the magic began. Once she could see what my curls were doing, she pulled individual curls out to snip, and continued this way around my head as we talked about how the shape was coming along. Because of this approach, I could SEE what was emerging and have input. As a result, I ended up with an adorable angled cut that had lift and bounce and really put my curls in their best mode. I also went shorter than I EVER would have allowed another stylist to take me, because each step, she asked questions, and because of my response, we adjusted. It's been two years now of amazing cuts and I rarely wear my hair pulled back now...it's just too happy to be contained. If you need a curl-tamer, go see Carla. Seriously, you deserve a cut this good!

I was impressed with her background working a number of NY and Paris fashion weeks to teaching cutting edge techniques. It's so rare to find a stylist and colorist in one. Before Heather, I changed stylists after every cut or color. She has such an incredible eye to detail, listens to what I want, and is QUICK. I have thin hair and she keeps me honest with my style requests- since my jet black hair with bangs to my blond days, and now into my bronde. She's supported my extra long layered hippie hair and helped transform it to a manageable length with a curtain bang. Heather teaches me ways to keep my hair healthy and gives me realistic tips on how to style my hair. She (unknowingly) helped prepare me for my elopement, where I was going to be in the wild, rainy, windy mountains of Scotland i.e.: no hair stylist there! I've hired Heather for private events (she styled my entire family- 5 women on my sister's wedding day) and I recommend her to everyone. Heather is *the* hair whisperer. She even cuts my husband's hair and now all of his friends go to her as well. Every hair color job grows out beautifully and every cut transitions into a new style if I can't make it in for a trim. Can't recommend her enough, worth every dollar and then some!!
