4.5 stars. The Steeping Leaf is a local tea house, bistro, and gelateria. The tea collection includes over 175 teas from around the world, including black teas, green teas, oolong teas, white teas, Chinese pu'er teas, fruit teas, herbal teas, chai blends, boba teas, single-estate teas, etcetera. Other beverages such as juices and coffees are also available. In addition, customers may make a reservation for afternoon tea, which for adults includes a choice of a pot of tea as well as a three-tier stand of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries. The foods and price vary for children aged 12 and under. The bistro's menu lists foods such as quiche, avocado toast, fruit bowls, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries, flatbreads, wraps, paninis, salads, quesadillas, smoothies, and milkshakes. A freezer contains about a dozen flavors of gelatos. Furthermore, shelves feature merchandise such as bags of teas, teapots, mugs, t-shirts, earrings, etcetera. My husband and I ate one breakfast here. An employee immediately and kindly greeted us. We placed our order at the cash register and then sat at a table of our choosing. Some tables were already reserved for the afternoon tea. I ate Baked French Toast (5 stars), which consisted of a brioche with custard, cinnamon, sugar, strawberry sauce, peaches, blueberries, raspberries, and banana slices. I drank a Masala Chai Tea (4.5 stars). My husband ate the Loaded Breakfast Panini Wrap (3.5 stars), which contained scrambled eggs, potatoes, cheeses, avocado, sour cream, and salsa. The ingredients were separate, which he said looked pretty but tasted just OK. He used his utensil to try to mix the ingredients. He ate only half of it. He drank a Gelato Iced Chocolate (4.5 stars), a chilled hot chocolate with vanilla gelato and whipping cream on top. I also purchased a Dubai chocolate bar (4.5 stars) for about $20. It was not my all-time favorite Dubai chocolate, but it was a large size, and it tasted very good for being made in Pittsburgh. Note that private events such as birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, and bachelorette parties may also be held at The Steeping Leaf. Catering is also available.

I took my mom here for the Afternoon tea as a early Christmas present. We had a wonderful time! The food and tea was exceptional! I was shocked and thrilled at the large amount of delicious gluten free options for the afternoon tea. The service was excellent, the waitress was very knowledgeable. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Can't wait to return!

The parking is not good. Super small lots and getting out onto the street leaving was very painful and jarring. It was the final straw for my tire. Thankfully, I'd already ordered tires tho. The food and drinks (teas & smoothies) were delicious and service was friendly. The burritos were assembled strangely. Only one half had bacon, the other avocado, etc. Very large tea menu and surprisingly decent food selection. Laid back atmosphere.

We visited for the first time today and I am so pleasantly surprised!! First, incredible ambiance. Very relaxing and they take great care in keeping it clean! Excellent boba selection and extensive tea selection. Didn't get to try any food but will have to next time. So happy we came in!

While in town, I brought a couple family members here for fun tea experience. We have tried many afternoon teas in different places and were very impressed with the quality and service of this one. The servers were so warm and welcoming. They have such a wonderful tea collection including seasonal blends, and we loved that we could try an unlimited number of teas from their collection! It's very kid-friendly and has a beautiful ambience as well, with plenty of seating and a cozy feel. As for the tea itself, you can tell it was prepared with so much care. The pastries and sandwiches were all so fresh and delicious! They also cater to dietary restrictions. Given the quality and value, I'd definitely return.

Great tea parlor. The quinoa wrap was amazing. The owners are from Switzerland. Great chocolate croissant.

I recently dined at The Steeping Leaf and was very pleasantly surprised! From the moment we walked in, the decor caught my eye--clean, fresh, and modern, creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. What We Ordered: Daily Special Flatbread - Sweet BBQ sauce, smoky bacon, pineapple, provolone cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Every bite was a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors. The Campagna Flatbread had fresh sliced tomatoes, creamy Ovolini mozzarella, olive oil, garlic, basil, and a finishing touch of balsamic glaze. Both came with a side salad of crisp romaine and red lettuce tossed in a honey mustard dressing. The greens were fresh and the dressing was just the right amount of tangy and sweet. We added a pot of freshly steeped tea. I cannot recall the name but it was fragrant and freshly brewed, making it a perfect complement to our meal. They had so many different varieties of tea - hot, cold, Boba and more. Definitely you will find what you are looking for. Everything about our visit was so nice. We really enjoyed the ambience which was so inviting with a modern vibe. I would definitely recommend and will be back and try more from their menu!

This is a hidden gem! Whether you're stepping in for a quick bite or tea service in the main room, or holding a private event in the event space, Steeping Leaf will not disappoint! The had several guests with complex dietary restrictions and we were served beautiful substitutions for everything. The gelato in the cafe is to die for! Can't wait to come back!

Amazing pot of earl grey to share. Just passing thru the area and it's a very esthetic looking place with good customer service

Afternoon Tea selection (dairy free options on other side separated from the regular items by the brown cone things.)

Visited here twice now, once for lunch and once for Afternoon Tea. Very cute and cozy atmosphere. Lunch was amazing, service was good and friendly, and the tea selection is huge. Afternoon Tea was a lovely experience, they adjusted the menu to accommodate with dairy free options which were very delicious and clearly separated from the dairy containing options, I loved that you could try as many teas as you wanted hot or cold, and the servers were helpful in deciding which tea to choose. I wish the parking lot was a tad bigger to turn around in, but everything else was great.

We cannot say enough positive things about this hidden little gem!! My husband and I came Up from Wheeling today because I have really been wanting to try this place. It was amazing. Food was fantastic and their variety and options of tea are mind blowing! I am so happy there is a place like this. The staff and owners were so kind and it was the most Relaxing and calming environment. I wanted to buy every type of tea they had!! The lavender matcha was delicious as was their brunch menu!!! We will be back Soon for lunch, gelato and more tea!! Thank you!!!

More Tea with The Madre!…read more My mom and I always make it a point to go to tea whenever we're in the same state. This time, we visited Uniquely Yours Tea House in Hickory, PA. Upon arrival, the charming house and well-manicured landscaping set a welcoming tone. A sign at the end of the walkway requests that guests wait there or in their cars until their reservation time, which makes sense since the waiting area inside is a bit small. We were warmly greeted by the proprietor and led inside, where we were introduced to a unique tea selection process. Instead of a menu, guests choose their tea from a cabinet of jars. You open each jar to smell its contents and make your selection. While the jars were labeled, many labels were slightly smudged, and some jars weren't very fragrant, making the process a bit cumbersome. Personally, I would have preferred a traditional menu, but the owner seemed somewhat put off by this preference. Interestingly, both my mom and I chose the same tea, and our hostess chided us for lacking an adventurous spirit. That interaction was a little more than a bit off-putting, but we moved on to our table. The table settings were elegant, with matching teapots placed on stands heated by candles. However, while my mom's candle was lit, mine was not, and the hostess didn't light it upon serving. It seemed like an oversight that could have been easily avoided. We both enjoyed the black currant tea, which was delightful and definitely worth recommending. However, I noticed that the table was set with paper napkins that were thin and unimpressive. I definitely prefer cloth napkins, especially for tea. Given the overall ambiance, this detail seemed out of place--almost like using plastic forks at a fine dining experience. Moving on to the food, everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The grilled sandwich with provolone, spinach, and a herby spread was a standout, though wiping my hands on the thin napkin just highlighted the fact that it was not cloth. The Hawaiian chicken salad in a croissant was also excellent. However, the cucumber sandwich, served on raisin or craisin bread, overpowered the cucumbers and cream cheese with its strong flavor. But the portions were generous, so come hungry! The scone, a glazed lemon poppy seed, was moist and paired perfectly with Devonshire cream. The sweets were a highlight: a delicate cream horn with edible gold glaze, a summer berry cupcake, and a filled cookie with white chocolate and berry--each was as delicious as it was beautiful. Overall, while the tea and food were enjoyable, and the setting was lovely, the tea selection process and the use of paper napkins detracted from the experience for me. If you're a fan of tea, it's worth a visit, but be prepared for these quirks and go with an empty stomach!

I made a reservation for the High Tea for my husband and me. An employee promptly seated us. I felt disappointed that this tea room gave us plain white teapots without loose leaves and that they did courses rather than use a three-tier stand of foods, but we did have some choice in the teas and foods, and they did taste very good. The High Tea consists of the following: pots of hot water with a large selection of tea bags, choice of cold drinks, scone with devonshire, choice of soup, salad, three sandwiches, and choice of three desserts. For drinks, we chose four teas--cinnamon plum, peach and passionfruit, English breakfast, and salted caramel--not just two teas like at other tea rooms. We received colds teas, peach and sweet, included in the price. For foods, we chose two scones, M&M and one other that I forget. We chose two soups, which were chicken noodle and cheesy potato. The salad contained greens, cheeses, peanuts, cranberries, and raspberry dressing. The three sandwiches were cucumber, tomato-bacon-basil, and my favorite of chicken salad. For desserts, we chose lemon cake, carrot-cake cupcake, pineapple cake (?), cheesecake, brownie, and my favorite of cherry-chocolate ice cream. I appreciated having a cold dessert in the middle of the hot summer, and it was one of the best ice creams that I have ever tasted.

I had their potato soup, which was incredible, the steamed broccoli with cheese which was good, and the Tea for Two with a friend. We got to try their day-old strawberry scones and their raspberry scones of the day (which, by the way, I would not have know which was old and which was not if we hadn't been told). Each of us got to choose 3 sandwiches, which I have not experienced before but appreciated, and I enjoyed all 3 of my cucumber sandwiches. We also each got to choose our own quiche slice from the two daily flavors. I really did appreciate how each person could get exactly what they wanted while still having a full tea experience. The nut rolls and Mexican wedding cookies were also yummy and I wish I could have had more. Each of us got to choose our own tea as well, which is pretty typical, although not every place allows that. They had a huge menu to choose from, and the best part is that you can also order any of their teas to go in a tin to make your own at home. They even have some more unique flavors, such as some oolong varieties. The service is a bit slow, but everyone, from the owners to the servers, is so sweet, so you can't really complain. We had Emma as our server and she did not steer us wrong with recommendations we asked for and was able to tell us all about what we were getting. She is such a joy and in a great role. The ambiance is also unique. It feels like you are either in an antique store or old Victorian house. It really does look like an afternoon tea place. You do need a reservation, especially on a weekend. The space isn't huge and they do not have a huge staff, and you can tell they like to make sure they are prepared so it can be a relaxing, special experience, whether having tea or anything else they offer. I would recommend making a trip out here, and this is a definite stop any time I am in the area moving forward!
