Tea sandwiches

Had a wonderful afternoon tea at Serendipity Tea Room. Great food. Excellent, attentive service. Wonderful quaint atmosphere. The overall experience was exactly what I wanted. For $35 I received a scone, a cup of soup, a salad, three tea sandwiches and a choice of three desserts. I thought the portions were perfectly sized and the presentation was nice. Overall I felt it was a good value for the price

Desserts... lemon chiffon cake, carrot cake and penguin ice cream (coconut + chocolate)

Grab your girlfriends, escape from the city for a high tea! That's what we did. The ride out is full of girl talk and laughter, the meal is delectable, and the environment is absolutely adorable. Several notable things about the high tea here : the environment AND food are both amazing. High tea is a five course meal - yes!! Bring your appetite .. I started with the apricot pecan scone -yum, soup of the day, salad with the best creamy raspberry dressing, sandwiches are Delicious and hefty portions, and then dessert - see the picture. There are at least 10 dessert options with the best ice cream that you have ever tested.

Absolutely Splendid! At almost 30 years old I brought my daughter and I here for ehat was both of our first tea party! I never imagined it would be as perfect as it was. The decor, the service, the menu.... I have nothing other than great things to say! I had never knew this little place existed but I am so glad to have found it. We came on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch. When we arrived the building was easy to find from its charming appeal, which makes it stand out from the other places nearby. Once we stepped inside, we were slightly overwhelmed and taken back, but in a a good way. The dining area was just as adorable as the outside with plenty of nick-nacks and beautiful pictures to take in. The tables were all preset with table cloths and teapots, as well as flowers and dolls. We were quickly greeted and seated. My daughter ordered princess tea, 11$, consisting of a scone, a pot of a cold beverage of her choice, a sandwich or mac n cheese, a side of fruit salad or applesauce, and a scoop of ice cream. She choose pink lemonade which came in her own tea pot. I ordered the light tea, 17$, coming with a scone, 2 tea sandwiches, a salad or soup and 2 desserts, and unlimited hot tea. I was thrilled the most that they were willing and able to accommodate a vegetarian diet. While all the soup had meat, I was able to order the salad instead. I was unsure about the dressing, a raspberry vinaigrette, sometimes I never would have ordered, but it was fabulous! (the salad does include peanuts, just a FYI for anyone who may have an allergy) I was also able to get the bacon grilled cheese without the bacon, and without any problem. And I will say, it was was absolute best grilled cheese I have ever had! Also to add, they have alot of choices of decaffeinated tea! As for dessert there was so many options. Honestly, I can't even remember them all! They had something called "butterfly cake," a chocolate moouse cake, a lemon shooter, a raspberry cupcake, and a white cake from what I can recall. They also had a few kinds of ice cream, including moose tracks, vanilla and butter pecan. For my 2 choices of dessert, I ordered ordered white cake along with the cupcake and to my surprise, they were full sized! My daughter added a tea sized chocolate cake to her ice cream and it was a very small upcharge. All together the bill was 28$ and I cannot wait to go back!

So awesome!!! My momma made us reservations for her and I to celebrate her birthday with something different like high tea. Tucked away in Speers along the river, it is a cozy and has the small town feel. Reservations are highly recommended, and the tables are set so beautifully, ready for your arrival. They do so much for the little girls, with cute mini teapots & tea cups, and princess placemats. I would totally bring a little one here to make a unique memory for their birthday or just a girls day out. Though they have a full service lunch menu, we decided on the traditional high tea experience instead of the lite tea (though I think next time we would do the lite tea, because the portions are more than I'm used to with a tea experience). They have bagged tea, which was a slight bummer, as I love a loose tea, but they were delicious quality tea bags and came in many varieties. We each started off our meal with a brown sugar cinnamon scone w/ Devonshire cream. It was warm and delicious- definitely the best scone I've ever had at a tea. Next, I got the vegetable soup and she got the chicken noodle soup, the vegetable was delicious, and she thought the chicken noodle tasted just fine. Next, we got the side salads. She really enjoyed the salad - a spring mix with shredded cheddar cheese, dried cranberries, and home roasted peanuts with a raspberry house dressing. I myself, though a salad lover, could have done without it as I'm not one for overly sweet dressings nor peanuts. A solid course, just not my taste. We then got the chicken salad croissant, tomato bacon grilled cheese, and cucumber sandwich. All were spectacular and way larger portions than I'm used to! We were completely stuffed at this point, but still had dessert to eat. They had many varieties of Michigan ice cream (my mom was obsessed with the butter pecan), cheesecake, turtle brownie, and coconut cake. I got the three dessert options and only had the coconut cake which was so delicious. The other 2 are in the fridge for tomorrow because I am still stuffed 6 hours later. The service was 100% top notch incredible. Our waitress was so funny and charming, and really took care of us. She made my mom's birthday so special and I am so glad we decided on this place instead of a normal weekend brunch! It is also super laid back and comfortable, so you don't feel intimidated or that you're 'doing it wrong'! I will definitely be back!

My niece wanted to celebrate her 18th (omg) bday here. We all agreed. What better way to celebrate, tea time. We were there for noon. It took a bit for us to get recognized and seated, however once we were, things went smooth and service improved tremendously. The tea room is small but cozy. They have different options for tea. You can get two different tea services or just have hot tea and pick off the menu. My sister chose a tea service which included a scone, two small sandwiches, salad, and two desserts. The rest of us chose off the menu. Everything we got was good. I had their apricot tea which was terrific. The rest of our party tried all sorts of them. Huge variety!!! I had their chicken soup. Great flavor, lots of chicken with bow tie pasta. Chicken was abundant and succulent. Me and the hubby ordered two different sandwiches and shared. We had the tomato basil grilled cheese which was lacking in basil. We also had the grilled Turkey club which was the star of the show. My sister loved everything she got to try. My mom had the chicken salad wrap and enjoyed immensely. Niece the grilled cheese and loved it. Dad had the turkey club and liked it. It was delightful and delicious and I won't hesitate to go back!!! Our waitress always made sure we had hot water on the table and tea bags in our baskets. Terrific!

You'll feel relaxed before you even grab that cup to drink. You could spend a long time reading the tea menu. Coffee is a little bit frowned upon here. It's always pretty quiet so it's a good place to go for conversations with a friend. They also have smoothies, which are appealing to children. Check it out when you're in the area.

Other beverages such as juices and coffees are also available. In addition, customers may make a reservation for afternoon tea, which for adults includes a choice of a pot of tea as well as a three-tier stand of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries. The foods and price vary for children aged 12 and under. The bistro's menu lists foods such as quiche, avocado toast, fruit bowls, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries, flatbreads, wraps, paninis, salads, quesadillas, smoothies, and milkshakes. A freezer contains about a dozen flavors of gelatos. Furthermore, shelves feature merchandise such as bags of teas, teapots, mugs, t-shirts, earrings, etcetera. My husband and I ate one breakfast here. An employee immediately and kindly greeted us. We placed our order at the cash register and then sat at a table of our choosing. Some tables were already reserved for the afternoon tea. I ate Baked French Toast (5 stars), which consisted of a brioche with custard, cinnamon, sugar, strawberry sauce, peaches, blueberries, raspberries, and banana slices. I drank a Masala Chai Tea (4.5 stars). My husband ate the Loaded Breakfast Panini Wrap (3.5 stars), which contained scrambled eggs, potatoes, cheeses, avocado, sour cream, and salsa. The ingredients were separate, which he said looked pretty but tasted just OK. He used his utensil to try to mix the ingredients. He ate only half of it. He drank a Gelato Iced Chocolate (4.5 stars), a chilled hot chocolate with vanilla gelato and whipping cream on top. I also purchased a Dubai chocolate bar (4.5 stars) for about $20. It was not my all-time favorite Dubai chocolate, but it was a large size, and it tasted very good for being made in Pittsburgh. Note that private events such as birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, and bachelorette parties may also be held at The Steeping Leaf. Catering is also available.

It manages to be quaint and inviting, but absolutely stunning at the same time. The food was wonderful, the scones were honestly the best scones I've ever had and they make everything on site! Not to mention the presentation, the tiered serving trays? The different pieces of vintage china settings? The crystal goblets? Omg, take me back to the days of dreaming of having a tea party like this! My inner child is jumping up and down! This venue is small, but the perfect size for a more intimate gathering, my party was 22 people and we fit just fine. The waitress was adept at explaining the tea flavors and describing what was on the serving trays as they were set down, and the owner, Sherry, was a joy to work with. Her friendly and professional demeanor helped assuage the stress of throwing an event, and her contracts were well drafted and easily understood. I can't wait to go back in my own time just for lunch and tea! Once again, I highly recommend this lovely tea room, whether it's for an event, a luncheon or a princess party, I will be telling all of my friends about it.

One note is, I think they have a wifi limit where only a certain number of people can connect. I tried all night to get a connection and could not for any of my devices, nor could my friend. Overall the ambiance is catered toward chatting rather than studying as the tables are very small and slow or no wifi. I like the night vibes it has though, we need more late night 3rd spaces like this one!! I got a hummus plate and ginger tea. The ginger tea was just okay. The ginger was overpowering in not a good way. It highlighted the spiciness of ginger without letting any type of "tea flavor" through. It tasted more like ginger water. For a tea house, I thought it would have more depth. The hummus platter was very yummy! The pita was warm and the olive oil on the hummus added a nice touch to it. I think I would have enjoyed the experience more had the tables not been as wobbly, the WiFi worked at any point, the tea had a bit more nuance to it, and the cloying smell wasn't there. It is a very good chatting spot for late night meetings ups with great food!
