4.5 stars. Serendipity Tea Room currently offers High Tea for $30 per person, Lite Tea for $25 per person, and Princess Tea for $15 per child, plus tax and gratuity. I made a reservation for the High Tea for my husband and me. An employee promptly seated us. I felt disappointed that this tea room gave us plain white teapots without loose-leaf teas and that they did courses rather than use a three-tier stand of foods, but we did have some choice in the teas and foods, and they did taste very good. The High Tea consists of the following: pots of hot water with a large selection of tea bags, choice of cold drinks, scone with devonshire, choice of soup, salad, three sandwiches, and choice of three desserts. For drinks, we chose four teas--cinnamon plum, peach and passionfruit, English breakfast, and salted caramel--not just two teas like at other tea rooms. We received colds teas, peach and sweet, included in the price. For foods, we chose two scones, M&M and one other that I forget. We chose two soups, which were chicken noodle and cheesy potato. The salad contained greens, cheeses, peanuts, cranberries, and raspberry dressing. The three sandwiches were cucumber, tomato-bacon-basil, and my favorite of chicken salad. For desserts, we chose lemon cake, carrot-cake cupcake, pineapple cake (?), cheesecake, brownie, and my favorite of cherry-chocolate ice cream. I appreciated having a cold dessert in the middle of the hot summer, and it was one of the best ice creams that I have ever tasted. The employees' service was mostly good. However, I had asked them in my reservation if I could film a video of my meal, and they said yes. But then an employee got an impatient tone of voice when I was still filming my food and they were bringing out the next course. Had a great time with my daughter! The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming! We enjoyed high tea and the food was great! The salad had a few brown spots, and as you can see in the picture, I had to discard a few pieces, but overall the food was very tasty. The waitress was very attentive to our needs and the staff were friendly. The decor was amazing to see so many beautiful teapots and teacups and to be surrounded by such beautiful tea sets. Wonderful tea room! Beautiful and relaxing decor, courteous staff, and delicious teas and menu items. They also have a gluten-free menu, which is helpful for those of us with dietary restrictions. Absolutely Splendid! At almost 30 years old I brought my daughter and I here for ehat was both of our first tea party! I never imagined it would be as perfect as it was. The decor, the service, the menu.... I have nothing other than great things to say! I had never knew this little place existed but I am so glad to have found it. We came on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch. When we arrived the building was easy to find from its charming appeal, which makes it stand out from the other places nearby. Once we stepped inside, we were slightly overwhelmed and taken back, but in a a good way. The dining area was just as adorable as the outside with plenty of nick-nacks and beautiful pictures to take in. The tables were all preset with table cloths and teapots, as well as flowers and dolls. We were quickly greeted and seated. My daughter ordered princess tea, 11$, consisting of a scone, a pot of a cold beverage of her choice, a sandwich or mac n cheese, a side of fruit salad or applesauce, and a scoop of ice cream. She choose pink lemonade which came in her own tea pot. I ordered the light tea, 17$, coming with a scone, 2 tea sandwiches, a salad or soup and 2 desserts, and unlimited hot tea. I was thrilled the most that they were willing and able to accommodate a vegetarian diet. While all the soup had meat, I was able to order the salad instead. I was unsure about the dressing, a raspberry vinaigrette, sometimes I never would have ordered, but it was fabulous! (the salad does include peanuts, just a FYI for anyone who may have an allergy) I was also able to get the bacon grilled cheese without the bacon, and without any problem. And I will say, it was was absolute best grilled cheese I have ever had! Also to add, they have alot of choices of decaffeinated tea! As for dessert there was so many options. Honestly, I can't even remember them all! They had something called "butterfly cake," a chocolate moouse cake, a lemon shooter, a raspberry cupcake, and a white cake from what I can recall. They also had a few kinds of ice cream, including moose tracks, vanilla and butter pecan. For my 2 choices of dessert, I ordered ordered white cake along with the cupcake and to my surprise, they were full sized! My daughter added a tea sized chocolate cake to her ice cream and it was a very small upcharge. All together the bill was 28$ and I cannot wait to go back! read more

So awesome!!! My momma made us reservations for her and I to celebrate her birthday with something different like high tea. Tucked away in Speers along the river, it is a cozy and has the small town feel. Reservations are highly recommended, and the tables are set so beautifully, ready for your arrival. They do so much for the little girls, with cute mini teapots & tea cups, and princess placemats. I would totally bring a little one here to make a unique memory for their birthday or just a girls day out. Though they have a full service lunch menu, we decided on the traditional high tea experience instead of the lite tea (though I think next time we would do the lite tea, because the portions are more than I'm used to with a tea experience). They have bagged tea, which was a slight bummer, as I love a loose tea, but they were delicious quality tea bags and came in many varieties. We each started off our meal with a brown sugar cinnamon scone w/ Devonshire cream. It was warm and delicious- definitely the best scone I've ever had at a tea. Next, I got the vegetable soup and she got the chicken noodle soup, the vegetable was delicious, and she thought the chicken noodle tasted just fine. Next, we got the side salads. She really enjoyed the salad - a spring mix with shredded cheddar cheese, dried cranberries, and home roasted peanuts with a raspberry house dressing. I myself, though a salad lover, could have done without it as I'm not one for overly sweet dressings nor peanuts. A solid course, just not my taste. We then got the chicken salad croissant, tomato bacon grilled cheese, and cucumber sandwich. All were spectacular and way larger portions than I'm used to! We were completely stuffed at this point, but still had dessert to eat. They had many varieties of Michigan ice cream (my mom was obsessed with the butter pecan), cheesecake, turtle brownie, and coconut cake. I got the three dessert options and only had the coconut cake which was so delicious. The other 2 are in the fridge for tomorrow because I am still stuffed 6 hours later. The service was 100% top notch incredible. Our waitress was so funny and charming, and really took care of us. She made my mom's birthday so special and I am so glad we decided on this place instead of a normal weekend brunch! Serendipity Tea Room and Cafe is by far, my favorite tea room in the greater Pittsburgh area! The place is spotless, the decor is charming, the food is delicious, and the service is delightful. Every room is a little different which makes each one special. They are peppered with darling collectibles, both new and vintage, and tea accoutrements available for purchase. And, of course, I want everything! I appreciate the beautiful table setting with all of the little extras like tea bag squeezers and teapot warmers. They just think of everything there! I don't mind the tea bags over loose leaf as this way, I am able to enjoy different teas over the course of my experience rather than being locked into one flavor. Our server was personable and accommodating. My friend had dietary restrictions and it was no problem whatsoever. The menu has a nice variety of tea party options , salads, sandwiches, desserts, and even a children's menu. Today I ordered the lite tea.. There were 4 scone choices and 5 or 6 dessert options in addition to ice cream, of which there were numerous flavors from which to choose. My only suggestion is to offer a salad protein option other than chicken. Perhaps a scoop of tuna or egg salad? Thank you for yet another delightful afternoon. Great experience, great value! My niece wanted to celebrate her 18th (omg) bday here. We all agreed. What better way to celebrate, tea time. We were there for noon. It took a bit for us to get recognized and seated, however once we were, things went smooth and service improved tremendously. The tea room is small but cozy. They have different options for tea. You can get two different tea services or just have hot tea and pick off the menu. My sister chose a tea service which included a scone, two small sandwiches, salad, and two desserts. The rest of us chose off the menu. Everything we got was good. I had their apricot tea which was terrific. The rest of our party tried all sorts of them. Huge variety!!! I had their chicken soup. Great flavor, lots of chicken with bow tie pasta. Chicken was abundant and succulent. Me and the hubby ordered two different sandwiches and shared. We had the tomato basil grilled cheese which was lacking in basil. We also had the grilled Turkey club which was the star of the show. My sister loved everything she got to try. My mom had the chicken salad wrap and enjoyed immensely. Niece the grilled cheese and loved it. Dad had the turkey club and liked it. Wonderful little Tea house that we stumbled on while looking for a lunch spot on the river. I took my 100 year old mother here for her birthday lunch. Everything was so impressive from the whimsical yet elegant decor to the delicious food to the excellent service. Nancy and everyone else went out of their way to give us a truly wonderful and memorable experience.
