I evaluate a restaurant mainly by the service, price, quality, and whether I can make the dish(es) better at home for cheaper. I absolutely love burgers and thought the Ultimate Egg burger I got at The Stand was delicious! It was $11 and came a la carte. I was quite hungry after hiking and split $3 house-made chips with my friend Emma. We were offered complimentary pickle chips to munch on as we waited for our food. I know pickles aren't for everyone, but I personally enjoy them and thought these were a nice touch :-). The chips came in a couple minutes and our burgers in less than 10. A few chips here and there tasted maybe slightly stale, but for the most part they were crunchy and fresh! The burger itself was oh-so-good and was quite sizable. The yolk spread and absorbed into the patty, and the sweet chili aioli added an extra sweetness I didn't know I needed! I enjoyed the pickled onion and bacon too, which added a contrast to the sweetness. This is something I can definitely make at home, though I doubt I can fine tune the recipe and ingredients ratio as well as they have. But I do think $11 is a bit pricey for just a burger, even considering the great taste. While this isn't a place I'll regularly frequent, I'll definitely be back to try other burgers, the fries, shakes, etc I was able to find street parking fairly easily a couple blocks away. read more

The burgers here are DELICIOUS. I used to go here when it was TLT, and I think The Stand might be owned by them since they have very similar brussel sprouts? Either way, both places are great. I've tried a couple of different burgers from here. All of them are huge. Fries don't come with the burgers, but I think since it's such a big portion, that fries aren't necessary. The Onion Stack burger, has really nice thin crispy onions in it. The onions go well with the sweetness of the bbq sauce in it. The Ultimate Egg burger is one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for an egg on a burger! It's a fried egg with a runny yolk that just saturates the meat. I love it. Another great burger of theirs is the El Capitan. This one is nice and really unique. It has pickled onions, guacamole, and chimichurri sauce in it. I really like the pickled onions. I've also ordered their buffalo chicken sandwich before. It comes with chips which are tasty! They have amazing brussel sprouts too! I know that they serve hot dogs here but I have never tried them. They have certain beers on tap and they also give you free pickles to munch on. read more

Jose and Jennifer (or Jessica) were running the front counter when I went in. Very good attitude, very solid on their job, the store was busy too and they were doing a great job. Great focus. They were just right. Type of people I would want on my team. Met the manager later and complemented her on the business they're running also. Very clean place. Food was very good. I had the French onion burger. To be honest it's probably the best burger I've ever had, even considering the ones I've had on happy hour at places like Ruth's Chris and Flemings or any famous burger joints for that matter. I have been hearing good things about the French Onion Soup Burger and was eager to come to try it out when The Stand opened up a store in Old Town Pasadena. The restaurant itself is located on El Molino (directly across from the Pasadena Playhouse) which make it my future first pick for dining location the next time I come watch a show. Some Yelpers complained about the parking issue, but they actually offer 30 minutes free parking and an additional 60 minutes for $3. If you don't mind walking, there are actually a lot of street parking available. The Stand have a large menu. I tried the French Onion Soup Burger and El Capitan Burger during my first visit. While I have to wait for about 10 minutes for my burgers to be brought to my table, they were cooked to the perfection. The server was also nice enough to cut it in half for me when he realize I was sharing the Burger with my friend. Burger is in the $10 range, not bad for gourmet burgers, but definitely come back to try the other burgers and hot dogs on their menu. read more

I'm a Pasadena native and a home culinary enthusiasts. This is my very first ever Yelp restaurant review. The Stand hands down has "The Best" Burgers in town. Great selection, flavor and portions. My fave is the Big Blue (bleu cheese, carmalized onion, bacon, arugula, and bbq sauce), simply mouth watering.. Large side order of fries could feed 2 peeps. Great indoor and outdoor dining setting. Burger is bland. Venue was clean and service was fast. I feel like they can work on their burger a little more.

Nice atmosphere to the place. Hot dogs, burgers, and fries. I felt it was worth a try. Big Red dog was good. Fire fries were not - I enjoy spicy foods, but these were soaked in hot sauce and were just frankly not a pleasant eating experience. Lots of water was consumed. The hot dog is something I'd have again, although it has nothing on Nathan's in NYC, if we're comparing overpriced hot dogs and buns you're choosing to pay $6 for. Maybe their other menu items are much better. I just wasn't particularly blown away with my choices. read more

Ordered for delivery last night and the food did not disappoint!! I ordered the ABC Burger - it has great taste - I can only imagine how good it would be eating it there! What I liked was when the delivery man gave the bag there was a zip tie to let me know that no tampering with food had occurred. The food was delicious (we got a chicken sandwich and an onion beef burger with fries and pickles). I haven't left a review in a long time but when I finished my lunch I had to come on and review this place. I ordered from this place through Doordash and well sometimes when burgers and sandwiches get delivered, they are definitely not the same quality as "freshly made and delivered to your table." Understandable, but you know, a little disappointing. The Stand does not fall into this situation. Not only was my food hot when it arrived it was transcendently delicious. I ordered the French Onion Burger for lunch and the Short Rib Grilled cheese for later and let me tell you, I inhaled the French Onion Burger. I haven't had a chance to try the grilled cheese sando but it looks spectacular. Can't speak for any other menu items they have but these two are a must try! I love burgers and I love a good, steaming bowl of French onion soup. When I read that The Stand has a French onion soup burger, I was all over it. If you do not mind the walk, parking a few blocks down was really easy in the neighborhood. The space is really great. Vast space, tall ceiling, and huge glass windows. When the weather is nice, there is also patio seating. They also have beer on tap! My boyfriend got the apple slaw turkey in a lettuce wrap. The apple slaw was sweet and tangy and it tasted pretty good. It's a good choice if you want a healthier item. As for my French onion soup burger, it was as amazing as I expected. Good buns, nicely melted cheese with grilled onions AND crispy onion strings, and a steaming side of au jus. The burger patty was okay on its own but when dipped into au jus, it was a game changer. I dare to say that you can dip any burger patty into that au jus and it will be a game changer. Expected prices for gourmet burgers that range from $10-12. The French onion soup burger was a great comfort food that merged two wonderful things in my life craftily, so I would not hesitate to come back when itching for a good, gourmet burger. read more

I've been to The Stand a number of times and always thought that their burgers were pretty good. I was wrong; they're great. The burger was prepared the way I ordered it, had good flavor, and enough cheese. The burger sauce was a little runny but did help with the overall flavor along with the grilled onion. Their fries and onion rings make a good side or accompaniment to the burger. They have a number of really good shakes, the usual vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry but I really like the cookies and cream and also the mint chocolate chip shake. read more

But this Mac and cheese that ordered I will never ever never order it again. Hey so I tried this for the first time today after church to nosh on the way home. I was in the mood for fries done right with a fried egg so I can dip them in gooey orange yolky goodness! Saw this place had that so I got that and the egg burger with a pretzel bun- NICE choice! You can add up to five toppings and I put a chili aioli on mine. The burger was yummy. I was going to eat from it on the way home so I cut it in half and cut bite sized pieces. Certainly too big to eat in one sitting with the fries. The burger was perfectly done- the fried egg was just the right touch. The fries were good too but the egg on top needed work. I was disappointed - though why were good - AND there was plenty of yolk, ( I'm very annoyed when the cook overdoes the yolk and it's like a boiled egg), BUT the albumin was way underdone and was very snotty. 03.19.2019 Came here with the family after a WB Studio Tour. There's free validated parking for 75 minutes just past the building they're located in. We were here mid-afternoon so it was not busy at all. You ordered and paid at the counter and they bring your food to your table. I had the Cilantro Lime Chicken Sandwich. The chicken was a bit dry and not too flavorful. But when you ate it with everything that comes on it, it was pretty good. Hubby and H had a Stand Burger. Just a typical burger but they ate it all because we we starving. Little O had TWO kid's burger meals! That's how hungry she was. Just simple plain kid burgers. We had a large order of french fries and onion rings. The fries were thick cut but not steak fries. Fried well to a crisp, not soggy. The onion rings were battered not bread crumb exterior. They were good, nothing exciting. I kept telling hubby I had brought him a burger from the location close to our house after he had a dentist appointment. He doesn't remember and sadly neither do I. At least he can blame being under sedation, as for me...I don't know. Maybe I didn't have anything from there so that's why I do t remember. Anyways, this place is pretty good. I thought this place was great. A little on the price side but food was really good. We were going out to lunch and wanted to try something new so we gave this place a shot. Its set up like a walk up and order fast food joint but the food is nothing like it. We took a second to look over the menu and then placed our order. A couple things I like about this place was they have beer on tap. That's always a good thing, who doesn't like a burger and beer. What I also like is that they had one of those Coke machines that you get to pick the soda you want and the flavor giving you many options. Big Blue - Blue Cheese, grilled onions, bacon, roasted tomato, arugula and BBQ sauce. This burger was great! The patty was nice and juicy with great flavor. It's an all natural chuck and brisket blend. That blue cheese was very pungent but added good contrast to the meat, tomato, grilled onions and arugula all on a soft and fluffy gourmet brioche bun. This is a burger I would get again. Every bite was flavorful and juicy. I couldn't get enough. Onion rings - These rings were battered great. I want to say it was a beer batter but don't quote me on that. It was light and crunchy. Stand Fries - thick cut fries that had just the right amount of crunch and salt. The best part was that the fries were nice and hot. I do have to say that the food was a little pricy. I got a burger, union rings and a coke for about $22 but I will be going back. I made the mistake of getting a large onion rings and a large fries for two of us to share. We would have been good with two smalls. I definitely will be doing that next time. As a burger fan I've been meaning to try The Stand for a while. They have a nice mix of specialty burgers at a reasonable price. First off this place kind of reminds me of Eureka Burger with very similar prices just quick serve instead of full service. The Stand offers mainly Burgers, hot dogs and salads. I ordered the El Capitan which is a burger with short rib and chimmichuri sauce on it. The burger is a nice size and taste pretty good. It has has pretty good flavor and taste. I think this burger is great for someone looking try something new. The burger is also a nice size, after eating it with half a small order of sweet potato fries I was pretty full. Trying the burger made me want to try the short rib fries maybe next time. My wife had the ABC Burger (Avocado Beacon Cheddar) this burger was good, but nothing too out of the ordinary. The one thing I wish this place had was more of a selection of specialty shakes. I think they just have chocolate and vanilla shakes. When you have custard shakes you have to have more options for those looking to get a specialty shake to go along with their specialty burger. Other than that this place is a cool place to get a burger. Can't wait to come back and see if I can try some burgers that might even be better than the El Capitan burger I tried the first time. read more
