Do yourself a favor and buy several of their famous Ocean Rolls. The pastry is chewy while managing a nice crust. They are scrumptious without any gloppy icing. The filling is a light glaze enhanced with plenty of cardamom which makes it just-right sweet without inducing diabetes. We also bought a loaf of sourdough which also proved satisfying and delicious. This is not my first time stopping in here but it was my first time bringing my wife and kids. My sons always wants the overly sweetened baked goods so I was a little worried. We stopped in on farmers market day and the line was fast. They offers yummy samples while waiting. The build out is great I love the open feeling and they somehow got it dialed in so that its not too loud... which is tough given the business they do. Came here for the Ocean Roll and wasn't disappointed. Had to wait in a short line outside due to COVID, and once we got inside we got a variety of pastries. Ocean rolls (YUM), almond croissant (just ok), and a cinnamon knot (good). I had an iced vanilla latte, and my wife had a chai latte that may have been the best chai she's ever had (not spicy, and only slightly sweet). Wow--what an incredible bakery. We were in town for a short trip when I friend texted and said we could t leave without going to Sparrow. We are so glad she texted! We ordered a breakfast croissant (crisp and buttery, thick crispy bacon and perfectly poached egg), a thick slice of the ocean roll bread pudding (cardamom, Dane chocolate decadent fantasticness) and some Stump Town coffee. It was all absolutely amazing. We loved it so much we got back in line and bought a marionberry/lemon French macaron, a loaf of brioche and a ocean roll to go. Highly recommended! read more

(tourist review) What's Good: the Cinnamon Knot, Almond Croissant, and Ocean Roll were fantastic pastries (in that order of preference). The regular Croissant is also a good option. All of them were crisp to perfection and had the right amount of sweetness. Cinnamon Knot was like a better made version of Cinnabon (which we love) without the frosting. Almond Croissant is in its classic form but the sweet spread in the middle made it absolutely delish. The Ocean Roll is what they are known for and we like it, but just not as much as the other two. It has a hint of cardamom so paired very nicely with the Cardamom & Vanilla Latte. Speaking of Lattes, all flavors is not overly sweet which we prefer. But you can adjust with more or less to your taste. The Salted Honey Latte was also very good. For a hot breakfast of brunch, both the Lox Bagel and Bacon Breakfast Sandwich were fantastic. Lox had fresh ingredients with quality salmon. The Bacon Breakfast Sandwich (or Sando) has a runny egg...'nuff said. Basically, everything we had was delicious so it seems like you can't go wrong. Other Notes: Street parking is relatively easy. This is their newer location of the two and in a nice neighborhood with other shops and stores around. They serve Stumptown coffee here but if your looking for more local roaster, Thump Coffee is a couple minutes away and offer really good drinks. Made a stop at the bakery before heading on a hiking adventure. Walking in - the decor and ambience is so lovely. You'll be mesmerized by baked goods in the display as you wait in line. I'd advise looking at the menu on your phone while you're in line, the menu was a little hard to see for me. I chose the breakfast sandwich, they were more than happy to fry my egg vs having the egg poached. Also, I tried the vanilla bean latte. The only bummer was the coffee came out 10-15 min before the food, so it was cold once I got in the car. However, flavors were still good. Sandwich was delicious and hit the spot! Wow. I am so happy that I ate my only breakfast in Bend here. I actually thought that the bacon breakfast sandwich was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had in my life. The croissant was perfect. Crispy + flaky on the outside and soft + fluffy on the inside. The bacon was a lil sweet and perfect in terms of crispiness and non-crispiness. Loved the poached egg with it - wish it was a bit runnier if I was being picky. The marionberry cream puff was yummy too. Cold brew was strong and good. I arrived around 8am on a Sunday and there was a sizeable line out the door but it was only a 15-20 minute wait. Hope to be back sometime soon! read more

Been going to this Sparrow's for over 2 years now as my office is in the neighborhood. Up until about a month ago, even with the virus, it was great. People were great, baked good are always awesome. Now?? We literally get in our car and drive to Thump up the street. What a bunch of bratty, entitled, deeply bitter people you hired. You get nothing but attitude from everyone in there these days. Seriously, if you hate your job that much QUIT. Plenty of other places in Bend in the food service industry. It was barely worth the massive line out the door due to the virus. Now...it's NOT. This was our #5 coffee in Bend and we liked it. The design of the store is really nice. We waited in a quite a long line outside which is always a good sign! We've got inside, beautiful design. We got 2 cappuccinos and a chocolate pastry. The pastry didn't feel much like a croissant but much more like a chocolate with bread but still very good. I wanted to give a new update just to say they they are still awesome and the food is still delicious! I love that in the all the times I've come here, they are super consistent with quality and flavor. Yes, expect a line - even early in the middle of the week (I've been at all different times, and mostly have just missed the line, but a long one always forms after the fact and I hear people complain about it...nobody is forcing you to stand in the line if you don't want to, and honestly, for somewhere that has great ratings, you should kind of expect it!) The Ocean rolls are still the bomb - definitely eat them day off though as after that they do start getting a bit hard (learnt this the hard way). Recently bought the banana bread - it is soooo good!! Had the oatmeal there, also really good and such a big portion too. My only gripe would be the price of the grapefruit - this is (in my opinion) the only overpriced thing on the menu - $8 for 1 grapefruit...I could buy 3 bags of grapefruit for this!! Although there was a bit of a wait, it was absolutely worth it. Sparrow bakery really pulls out all the stops for every item on their menu. While my son had simple steel cut oats, they were the perfect texture and I liked that they gave the sides in little cups to be put on in the quantity that the customer wished. The sandwich croissant was so flavor soul and beautifully balanced. We did have to ask them to take it and warm it up, so if you get one of these beautiful sandwiches, make sure you specify that you want it heated prior to them bringing it to your table. This place has redeemed itself. The first time I went there I ordered the torta and some sort of fruit tart and I was not impressed with either. The 2nd time I went there, my mom said to get the popular bacon sandwich on a crossiant and the Ocean roll (cardamom is a very unique addition) and both were really good. If I go back I will make sure to stick to those 2 items. On a weird side note, beware of the Tabasco. It looked to be 25 yrs old and was no longer red, but rather a cloudy tan. read more
