I participated in a scavenger hunt through Amazing Co. & one of the stops was here and I definitely want to come back to try their coffee, juice/smoothies. Seems like a farm to table type restaurant that specializes in quality. Unfortunately, our salad that was suppose to be ready through the scavenger hunt service was not ready / no info was available for us to pick it up so I can not comment on the food. I do believe there was a mistake on the organizers end and not on the restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly & the location is perfect for beach-goers or locals for pick-up. I would definitely take some friends, a date or my momma back here for a morning coffee date !! Note: parking is free for the holidays in Hermosa & manhattan beach piers / surrounding areas ! read more

Meh food - adorable spot. So first off, the location is great, parking is pretty ok (mostly metered but I got a free 2 hour spot), and the actual place is adorable. Great place to meet a friend and chill. Staff was helpful and friendly and the bathroom was clean. I got one food item - so the lack of state is based completely on that. Avocado toast. Most popular item on the menu. It's good! Interesting. Not your typical avo-toast in that there's some sort of nut cheese on it (I am not a vegan but didn't mind it. It wasn't amazing. It was meh) as well as sumac. Was nervous about the sumac bc I'm generally not a fan but it was quite delicious. Why, then, the missing stars? Place was adorable and toast was surprisingly okay! A few other reviews mentioned this - the bread was HARD. WEIRD. idk maybe that's on purpose but the edges seemed stale. And the avocado and toppings were thiiiiiiin. Didn't like the bread/delicious stuff ratio. Also the nut cheese I could have done with it it didn't add anything except much needed volume and was slightly weird. I know I said it was fine earlier. I guess what I meant was it's not gross. Should you come here? If you're in the area, sure! Should you make a special trip? Absolutely not. Lower your expectations and enjoy the ambiance and you'll be very happy. read more

Love this little local spot! I always end up ordering the avocado toast and curry egg toast ever! I'm not big on gluten-free, vegan or dairy-free items but they do such an amazing job with their sweets that you would never notice the difference. read more

Wildly overpriced hyped up health food here. 2 juices and salmon bagel were $50. I was appalled! I think the bagel was keto and tasted pretty off. But the juice was delicious and the salmon really yummy. I'd go for juice and maybe a cookie and call it a day. read more

Not the best. Pretty over priced for what you get. Iced coffees tasted like there was some type of savory seasoning in it.

Nice ambiance. The owner is a nice person. Helpful and has great customer Service. Love their chocolate chip cookie read more

Quaint location for healthy breakfast by the beach and the pier. Avocado toast was pretty good, the cashew cream underneath the avocado made this toast unique. I opted the flax oil on the side, and didn't really need it. Their latte was great too! We also got the bone broth -- and it's served in a to-go cup! It's more of a healthy drink than a soup (what we expected). It was so different than what we expected, but they kindly replaced it with a different soup (curry chicken). The place is a lot smaller than the photos and was kinda loud, as they make smoothies too, but found the parking easy right outside (friday morning) and loved that it was walkable to the beach. read more

This was definitely a beautiful brunch place and we had a good time. Ambience is good and service was good as well. There is metered parking nearby. The food however was ok, nothing exceptional. We tried the sunchokes and veggie wrap. We also tried the kale and green apple smoothie which was amazing. Our server accidentally brought us avocado toast which we sent back, which looked pretty good. read more

I have recently started making and ordering tumeric lattes when I see it on a menu. I ordered a tumeric latte here and it had a bad aftertaste. I think it's the oil they add to it. It was a disappointment and $10 is too much for their lattes. I had a small lemon basil cookie and it was $5. Very expensive for what you get. It offset the bitterness of the latte so that helped a bit. read more

Loved the food and customer service! Everything was fresh, delicious and healthy. We got tofu tacos, lentil bowl, and fresh squeezed orange juice. Super cute coffee/bakery shop right along Pier Ave in Hermosa. It was super windy today so had to get in out of the cold (although I'm not complaining, its sunny and like 60 degrees, so Cali-cold, I get it). But the service was friendly and nice - they made my latte with coconut milk and the organic(? - pretty sure it is) blueberry scone was delicious. Street parking in front. Free wifi. read more

I had to stop coming here because of the rampant "greedflation"!! How much money is this business making off of YOU. It's $11.00?! For a cashew latte. $6.00 for two hard boiled eggs?! $6.00 people! You could buy 12 eggs for 5 bucks at the grocery store! Insane price gouging and sadly because people pay the prices this place will continue to stay in business. It's so sad how we just have to accept being overcharged because we live in SoCal beach neighborhoods. It's like it's expected for us to pay these exorbitant prices. I come here every now and again as a splurge but couldn't support the prices for what you get. read more

This place is healthy, but expensive. There are paper menus at the counter, so you do not have to try and read the wall. When eating there, after ordering, they hand you a numbered block of wood so they know which table to deliver your food to. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available, so it is dog friendly. I always sit outside. It feels a little too crowded and loud inside for my taste. The sound of the blender and freshly squeezed juices. They have the best avocado toast - it is just the right "tangy," so I do not remember ordering anything else, along with my latte. On my last visit, they were charging an extra $2 for anything with avocados, so my avocado toast cost $13 (before tax). I realized afterwards that I should have gotten the salmon toast instead, that costs the same. read more

Good, clean eating but honestly nothing to write home about. Had the chicken panini which was solid and not greasy. The lentil bowl was solid. The cherry banana bread was good, but the chocolate cookie was crumbled to dust and wasn't sweet. read more

If you want healthy options, this is definitely the place. I'm halfway through a week vacation in socal and needed something healthy after lots of ramen and cakes. I opted for the ginger and tumeric tea, keto shake and Turkey panini w/extra 3.00 to substitute sourdough bread (shared with my partner). The drinks came out immediately (we sat on their patio seating). The sandwich was wonderful but it came out 25 minutes after the drinks. I thought this place would be a quick bite and go place but I guess, I would only come back if I have time to spare. When my partner asked about the delay, we were told their chef was having a hard time getting out orders. Otherwise, this place solid for health conscious folks. read more

This place is $$$ but never disappoints. Sometimes being happy with your food is worth every penny. I was obsessed with the anchovy toast for a long time, but recently my go-to is the avocado toast. I've tried a bunch of the egg dishes, all good, but their toasts are my favorite. Coffee drinks, juices, smoothies, all good. Large selection of vegan/gluten-free "healthy" snacks and pastries. Refrigerator case has food and beverages to take home, too. Between the atmosphere and the food, this is a great breakfast destination. Paid street parking, and expect to share a table. read more

I adore this spot in manhattan beach! it's the perfect breakfast or lunch place for something healthy with a great cup of coffee or smoothie. I loved how they offered collagen protein and other superfoods to add to your smoothies! The prices are pretty steep but with good reason since they seem to use high quality ingredients and this is everything I would offer at a cafe for someone who is looking for something clean and healthy. I enjoyed their coffee, smoothie, and the power bowl! They have ample outdoor seating and a cute small interior. I would definitely come back when i'm in manhattan beach. read more

I'm so glad I found this place and it was a short walk from my hotel! I came here after a long day of work and driving, and was famished. I ordered the veggie panini for lunch, and the quinoa salad to have later for dinner. I also ordered a cold brew coffee that I wanted for the next morning, so they offered to bottle it for me! The employees were super sweet and accommodating. They didn't even act mad when I accidentally knocked over a succulent and spilled some potting soil, Lol (that was embarrassing). The panini and the quinoa salad were SO DELICIOUS. I will be drinking the cold brew later, but I'm sure it will be delicious. It's so hard to find healthy AND convenient food when I'm traveling, but this place made that super easy. I will be back the next time I am here!! read more

The prices have gone mad. You can't get a drink with a small bite to eat for less than $35. It is unreasonable.

The Source Cafe in Hermosa Beach is one of my go-to breakfast spots for healthy and tasty food. I usually get their bagels- Specifically the wheat bagel with cream cheese, pesto, tomato, and I add avocado... but today I chose the Sunrise Bowl: plain organic yogurt, granola, honey, and chopped fruit. Simple, fresh and healthy!! This cafe is excellent for vegans, vegetarians, gluten free etc! They state they serve non-gmo, organic and local food :) read more

QUALITY. As people say, you get what you pay for. The Source uses the highest quality of ingredients, locally sources, and are conscious of the way the food is prepared as well. I love the casual beachy vibe of this cafe, indoor and outdoor seating available as well. They offer specialty coffee drinks as well including matcha. Eating clean can be hard, but this place makes it easy because everything is so tasty! If it is your first time eating here, I definitely recommend the avocado toast. The basic avocado toast has: avocado, cashew cream, radish, flax oil, and whole wheat bread. Nice little snack if you are not too hungry for a big meal. Kale bowl is delish! I am not a huge fan of kale, but the combination is so flavorful, I love it. Tuna is not what you would typically expect, definitely doesn't taste like what you would get out of a can. Best I've ever had. Tastes fresh! Hummus is also amazing! I could just eat it with a spoon plain. Green party drink-kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, celery, ginger, green apple. Tastes so fresh and nothing is overpowering, the green apple gives it a good sweetness. The straws are biodegradable. Oh, and the desserts are a must! I have a huge sweet tooth and can be very picky, but these desserts are so yummy and clean. I love the cookies. read more

By far and away the best eatery in Hermosa Beach. The friendliest atmosphere, the best healthful and honest foods, and a great location. I've made The Source a must-go spot 4-5x a week. It is close to home, my gym, and not just the location, I've made their healthy approach to eating a lifestyle. I strive to eat wheat-free and The Source has lots of awesome muffins, cookies, and wraps that are wheat-free, gluten-free, and use nut flours or other types of ingredients. I also try my best to go sugar free and The Source has food and drink options with natural sweeteners too. The chefs and staff are super kind...the food is beyond good...and the extensive menu will keep you coming back. If that's not enough they have the best GF/Vegan Pumpkin Bread on God's Green Earth...pair that with a cup of fresh organic coffee and spend 20 minutes in heaven. Cute little cafe right on Pier Ave. The menu is a little on the pricey side....BUT full of healthy & fresh options such as juices, wraps, salads, etc. Had their Chai Latte twice and both times were EXCELLENT. Uh....no.............. :( My husband and I really wanted to like this place. But we left disappointed. First off, this place has a wait staff that will bring you your food even though you have to place your order at the counter. That is fine. However they have decided that people can get their own water but if you would like anything else they will bring it. It use to not bother me in the past but the Mr pointed out that he never understands the mentality of "doing things half assed" or as most would gently put it as doing things half heartedly. :) Why have people bring stuff to the table but only "some" things. Now granted this place is really cute and looks like a full serviced restaurant- but kind of operates more like a Corner Bakery. We weren't expecting that. The food.....oh the food..... I will just say that my turkey wrap was okay but I'm not keen on the actual wrap which was GF. This was my second time eating a GF wrap (first time was many moons ago at a different place) and I really wish they would have given patrons an option to opt out of the GF wrap. No offense those who likes it, but from the look to the taste and the texture of the wrap - it's like stale tortilla wrap. No bueno. :( They have coconut on the menu- when I saw it I was very excited because I LOVE drinking coconut (especially if it's still in its shell and they serve it with a straw). It's very refreshing and very good for you. THIS place totally seems like the kind of place that would serve coconut straight up like that. But no.....what they told me they do is they squeeze the milk from the white parts of the coconut- therefore it's not sweet at all and very rich. I wonder what they do with the actual coconut juice? I just opted for a plain water which I had to fight through the crowd from my seat to get myself (or rather the Mr had to for me). Will not be back and will not recommend this to anyone who doesn't eat GF food. A friend of ours LOVES this place ....go figure! read more

I truly love this spot but that is why I have to be critical. The baked goods, amazing! Tuna Melt is one of the best in all of LA. Salmon Toast is unique and delicious. Turmeric tonic is my go to elixir. Lox Bagel, bomb! But I had the Paleo Chicken Salad Sandwich today. Not good at all. Actually surprisingly bad. I was so disappointed. But I will definitely be back. If I could sum up this place in one word: HEALTHY. Small and cute brunch/lunch spot in Hermosa Beach. It was super packed even for a Tuesday mid-morning. My husband and I barely got seats at the outdoor patio bar. I tried a Coconut Smoothie and it came in a cute glass jar. Freshly made, had crushed almonds in it, and the flavor was pretty good, but I wished it was a little colder... it was a little lukewarm for my liking. I also got a Burrata Panini which was delicious! Loved the super soft burrata, fresh tomatoes, and pesto. The bread was a little rough and cut the roof of my mouth but I liked how crunchy it was. Portions are pretty small, and it's on the pricey end. Pretty much your average man's nightmare. But you get what you pay for--healthy and fresh juices and food. Parking: street/meter read more

Not sure why so many health-conscious restaurants feel compelled to choose names as cliched as The Source. But here I could care less, as the food is really really good, and the vibe is more modern and polished than Earthy. Between the super-flavorful faro salad, burrata panini, amazing desserts, coffees and juices, I can say I would rather eat here than many other places in LA--whether it's good for me or not. Granted, this sort of place attracts a decidedly Lululemon local crowd. But that's not a dig--these upscale body conscious people are a good divining rod for finding food done right. This time, they've pointed us to a place that strips away the yoga-fied pretense and simply delivers delicious, high-quality, fresh, feel-good eats. This is a fun little spot right on Pier Ave. It is set up around severing hearty food and drinks with the obvious people-pleasers of coffee and espresso based drinks. A lot of folks just come in and get their lattes to go. But, I recommend sitting back on their patio and enjoying your drink, snack, and/or meal. No view of the ocean but not a bad place to kick back. The food here is pretty good and unique in its presentation and flavorings. The lattes are just lattes but they're not bad. One of the fun things that they do is that they serve their smoothies in glass bottles. I always hear people asking... So, to answer, yes, you can take them with you if you don't finish. If you bring the jaw back latter they will give you a small refund. Overall, one of the more interesting places in Hermosa. read more
