Sausage omelette and Cajun grilled tomatoes. My favorite!

They swapped the sausage back out and everything is great once again! I guess they had a bad supplier for a while. The breakfast here is really good!

Blown away by some of these reviews..it's a diner. With diner food. Greasy food on paper plates with plastic ware. Perfection! Corned beef hash, sausage, scrambled eggs, and French toast under $10. Another reviewer said it was overpriced. $18 for breakfast for two with an egg cream and root beer float! Where are you getting your breakfast that this is spendy‽ Staff was super friendly, smiley even. They were very attentive and the food was served super hot! All while being packed. Ignore other reviews. My mother-in-law is visiting and said, "This is my favorite place so far." Good enough for that old southern woman, great for you.

The place is cute. A lot of history in the little shop. They even have photo albums on the counter that you can look through. When we stopped in, it was for some shakes. The reason for the 3 stars is for the service. The young woman at the counter when we were ordering looked and acted like she could not be bothered. She had one earbud in, so who knows what she was actually listening to. When we finally ordered, she wasn't even paying attention the whole time, so we had to repeat ourselves.

Wow... I am really surprised this place has a three star rating. It was exactly what I hoping it was. An old diner/soda shop for the 1950s and it delivered! It is super cute inside and they still have the eat at counter, which is a rare find these days. The waitress was tentative and made great suggestions for our meal. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich and it was great! I could have used a bit more Buffalo sauce but I didn't ask. The sandwich was nice and toasted on a hoagie bun. The wife had a Ruben and it was delicious per her opinion as I don't get down with Ruben's. The fries were okay, we had the curly and cottage variety. Next time we will go with our daughter and get a milkshake! I am sure she will love it and we are excited to go back for another round.

I came on a week night and it was pretty much empty. My buffalo chicken hoagie was yummy!!! Probably one of the only items I really enjoyed there. I will say the food is slightly overpriced (in my opinion) for what it is and its size. Also they were out of a lot of their sides (salt and vinegar chips, tater tots, etc.) which was disappointing, so I ended up settling on their regular fries (the round shaped things). Honestly, they were really bland and unseasoned. I decided to try a chocolate milkshake because I thought that it would be one of their "specialities" considering it's an old-timey diner type place. However, it was nothing special and just tasted like your regular blended chocolate ice cream. I packed the round fries to go and revamped them at home in the airfryer with lots of much needed seasonings. They turned into crispy potato chips and tasted much better than their original state. I recommend this! My friend got a burger, sweet potato fries, and a float as well. Overall pretty average / not great food place, but the look of the restaurants is cute. Servers were attentive too!

    Southern Comfort $5.99

The fam and I came here strictly for dessert and were not disappointed! Street parking as well as a public parking lot behind the building are available. The soda shop is small, and is exactly what you would expect a soda shop to look like. There's booth, table, and bar seating. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We decided to sit at the bar. The menu offers traditional soda shop items such as soups, salads, wraps, hamburgers, hoagies, hot dogs, sandwiches, old fashion milkshakes, floats, sundaes, and drinks. We ordered the following: Southern Comfort $5.99 Root Beer Float $3.75 The Southern Comfort is composed of layers of warm chocolate chip cookie, vanilla ice cream, walnuts, whipped cream, caramel syrup, and a cherry on top. Generous portion. I shared it with my husband and son, and we still couldn't finish it. The cookie was just warm enough to melt a little bit of the ice cream. It more than satisfied our sweet tooths. I didn't try my husband's root beer float, but he enjoyed it and finished it. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had a good experience.

Long way from my normal stomping ground. Found myself there while visiting my cousins this past weekend. Davidson campus is so nice. Nice day out, taking pictures and enjoying the nice weather can stir up an appetite. We made our way to the soda shop. It's nice, quaint little place. Very busy. The workers were hustling. The table got the chicken marinara hoagie (mine), buffalo chicken hoagie, and the chipotle hotdog, cherry coke, cherry coke float (mine), original soda (tasted). Man, the marinara hoagie was delicious. It didn't look like a whole lot of food but they pack the sandwiches with meat. Not a light serving which is great. The float was also pretty good. They don't hold back on the coke syrup at all over there. Watery your soda will not be. In addition, each of the plates came with their original (?) chip fries. It's a nice twist in French fries and really good. The service was alright. They were packed and busy, but they did their best and we didn't wait a whole lot. Overall a nice experience. Seating is a bit limited for the amount of traffic they seem to get. So, keep that in mind. All in all, definitely recommend swinging by if you are in the area. Prices are really fair. If it wasn't a 4h drive from where i live, that place would catch me often.

This is such a great place that it's hard to believe so many people walk by it. It is the only real soda shop I've ever been to snd it is dressed absolutely right for that role, They sell store made old fashioned sodas and phosphates which can morph into some old fashioned perfect deserts including real ice cream sodas. They make delightful milkshakes and offer a nice variety of lunch items. And they even serve alcohol do s breakfast Bloody Mary finished off an eggs Benedict. They serve breakfast to after noon and have lots of burger and hot dog renditions. The lemonade, lime aid and orange juices are all store squeezed and oh so delicious. The ambiance of the place is circa 1920 snd the quality of its treats make it a part of your future. It is undeniably kid friendly,

They are located in a basic strip mall so not much for ambience / character. The mint chocolate chip ice cream lacked depth of flavor but was still pretty good. What I really didn't like - the young girl that made my ice cream cone held the cone over the garbage can to add the chocolate sprinkles. And I mean almost in the garbage can. Hopefully it is a dedicated can for such work. If not... yikes. The cone was excellent.

We used to have a Handel's location closer to us, and we miss it greatly, so we make sure to stop anytime we are near one! Handel's is located in a strip mall-type area, in a corner unit. Specifically, it is located right off of 77 and W Catawba Avenue. There is plenty of parking for the complex, so that will not be an issue. The store has plenty of visible signage to point you in the right direction. Our visit was on a Thursday evening in July, a little after 8:00 PM. There were several groups enjoying ice cream, but there was not an overwhelming line. I believe we only had two or three people in front of us before we were able to order. The area outside of the store is not overwhelmingly large, but they have a roped-off area to show where the line should form to avoid it spilling into the dining areas. Some Handel's locations have an inside, but this location is completely outdoors. So, to place your order you simply walk up to the windows, and can then enjoy their patio seating or take your items to-go. When you approach the windows, you will see all of the signage, menu items, and flavors. The flavors were located on a sandwich board on the ground, which made it difficult to see if you were not directly in front of the windows. I could see this being a challenge if there was a long line, as one would not be able to see the flavor lists until right before ordering. We were waited on by a few of the staff members. Since it was not that busy when we ordered, they seemed to be splitting duties. My fiance ordered a Small Cake Cone of Key Lime Pie, and I got a 4 Scoop Sampler with Frosted Animal Cookie, Monkey Business, Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie, and Blue Moon. I thought the scoops on the 4 Scoop were somewhat small, but no complaints other than that. Additionally, we ordered a Dogster for our dog, and of course he loved it! Personally, the Frosted Animal Cookie was the only flavor I had not tried previously. It was alright...it is very sweet and truthfully did not remind me much of the cookie (besides the actual inclusions of animal cookies in the ice cream). It was made well, but just personally not for me. I have had all of the other flavors before, and they were all great. I love the uniqueness of Blue Moon, and also how refreshing Key Lime Pie always is. Since it was such a nice night, we enjoyed our ice cream on the patio. I love the lights they have strung up over the seating. There were probably around 5 to 6 tables, and a few benches around the perimeter of the patio. I am not sure how busy this location gets, but I could see there being a lack of seating during peak business times. However, we had no issue grabbing a table to sit at during this visit. I thought the prices were in line with what I would expect from a Handel's. Being that I am not from this area, it is hard to say if it is in line with other ice cream shops in the area. For all three of our items, it was around $15 with tax. My only complaint is that the Dogster was $3, which seems high. The staff were friendly and conversational. Since there was no line, I was talking with the one staff member about the Handel's that used to be near us, and enjoyed learning more about this particular location through our conversation. Overall, we enjoyed checking out a Handel's location we had never been to before. This is in a nice area, has plenty of parking, is clean, and has a nice atmosphere. My only critiques were the positioning for the flavors in relation to the line, pricing on some items, and the portion of the 4 Scoop Sampler. However, do not let that deter you from stopping here for a sweet treat if you are in the area!

This was our first time here, and it's a very nice venue. To start, their coffee is delicious and strong. I had the Double Up, with scrambled eggs (with added cheddar), bacon, sausage links, sourdough toast, and fruit. My husband had the Short Rib Hash with a side of potatoes. He forgot the hash also had potatoes, and should have gotten something else, because he had far too many potatoes! My scrambled eggs were a little over cooked and the cheese was only melted on top (rather than being mixed in), but they were still decent. The bacon was perfectly crispy--as requested, and the sausage links were fine. The sourdough toast was buttered and delicious. And the fruit had watermelon--a nice addition to the usual fruit cup. My husband's short rib hash was good. The eggs were perfectly medium, but the potatoes were a bit salty. Easy Like Sunday still makes our favorite version of this dish. Our server was very pleasant, and the wait wasn't too long for our food. I loved that we could pay with ApplePay via the Toast handheld.
