I received this for my birthday during the panemic and I've seen so many Instagram contests for this bakery specifically for their macarons. The concept of a macaron cake is very clever and unique. The macarons are unlike your tradition macarons - they have cream fillings and a lot of it. But the flavors are amazingly pronounced, except for the blueberry cheesecake which was very subtle and was hoping would have a stronger blueberry flavor. The service was very fast. The barista brought out my macaroon so quick I was still deciding what beverage to get. The macaroon was light and delicate and a perfect little treat, especially with the kitkat stick in the middle. The iced matcha latte was was good was a subtle matcha flavour. The barista asked if I wanted liquid sugar in the drink and I said yes but I wish there was a little bit more sugar because it tasted more milky than matcha + sweetness. There were many tables and seats around filled with people, only a couple tables available. Commenting purely from an ordering perspective. Deciding to go with a box of 9 macarons with a coffee dacquoise. The coffee dacquoise held its shape and the espresso buttercream was well balanced. The assorted box of macarons I had 2x tiramisu, raspberry, earl grey, injeolmi, matcha, Oreo, strawberry, blueberry cheese cake. Ones that really stood out for me were injeolmi, strawberry and the raspberry as they were different from your standard macarons. With that being said, all the others were great. I ordered a Box of 9 Macarons with the following flavours (in order within the photo): Matcha KitKat, Earl Grey, Tiramisu, Oreo, Strawberry Crunch, Blueberry Cheesecake, Injeolmi, Eggnog (December Special), Stollen (December Special) I must say I particularly enjoyed the Tiramisu, Strawberry Crunch, and Blueberry Cheesecake macarons. They were so delicious, tasted true to their descriptions, and were chewy. I highly recommend these flavours. I felt like the Matcha KitKat, Oreo, and Injeolmi had very muted flavours compared to what I was expecting. They were still tasty, but they weren't standouts. The Earl Grey was potent and noticeable, but I don't think I'm a huge fan of this flavour as it felt a little overpowering for me. Lastly, the December flavours were a huge letdown for me. I didn't enjoy the Eggnog and Stollen macarons as they were not only incredibly sweet but the flavours themselves weren't very pleasant/tasty. I was not a macaron person...until I had a Social Blend macaron. I guess it's true. I really do like them thicc. It's kind of insane how next-level macarons are getting. Between these and DaanGo, the aesthetic expectations keep rising. And of course, so do the prices. But you are paying for quality here. Social Blend specializes in "Korean-style" macarons, which I assume mean thicker, creamier centres than your traditional macarons. I decided to treat myself to their $40 special edition Chinese New Year set of 9. Call me converted. I'm not sure I want another macaron unless it's like Social Blend's. While I don't find their flavours super strong, they are less sweet than the average macaron and I love that. The cream in the middle is very velvety, like a buttercream cake. The flavours in our box were Dark Chocolate Orange, Taro Milk tea, Mango, Milk Chocolate, HK Milk Tea, Strawberry Crunch, Boston Cream, White Rabbit Exclusive and Lavender London Fog. They were all pretty good but I wasn't too huge of a fan of the one with the cake in the middle. I want that cream in my mouth. Maybe because they weren't too sweet, but the macaron felt lighter and easier to eat, despite the thickness. And they're all so dang cute, it's ridiculous. The CNY edition has one that looks like a little cow, one that looks like a lucky money pouch, and a lantern. It's a shame I want to demolish them all in 5 minutes. read more

Wow, finally tried this place and I can safely say...it's become one of my top 2 places in Toronto for Korean Macarons! I tried a few of their seasonal & regular flavours: -Injeolmi (my fav, it had a nice thin chewy mochi? From the first day I saw these macarons on Instagram, I knew I had to have them. The presentation was just too beautiful to pass up! I'm not really in their area, so it took me a while to actually try them. I'm so glad I finally did! They recently came out with their Local Love box, which is a really cool initiative that involves the Social Blend collaborating with other local businesses to create new flavours. I loved this idea, especially with local businesses being hit so hard by Covid, so I took advantage of their free delivery over $50 and got two boxes ($40 each). The Local Love box came with nine different macarons, which were all so unique and delicious. These were the nine flavours and the local businesses they collborated with: -Hojicha Latte (Genuine Tea) -Coffee pandan (Rustle & Still) -Everything Maple Bacon (Brodflour) -Hazelnut Brownie (Soul Chocolate) -Tokyo Fog (135 Ossington) -Piggy Bar (March flavour) -Honey Date (March flavour) -Birthday Cake (March flavour) -Coconut Latte (March flavour) My favourites were the Hojicha Latte, Coffee Pandan and Tokyo Fog. This review is based on the online ordering experience. If you access their website, online ordering experience is very straightforward and easy to use. $5 flat fee or free if orders are $50+. They work on a delivery schedule - which gives you flexibility in when you want it to arrive, but also make sure it delivers to your expected area! Ordering includes their signature macaron - which can be customize to your liking or choose from their signature set. And they also have coffee and teas. I tried their custom 9 box - which I selected a few of their usual flavours - matcha Kit Kat, earl grey, injeolmi, and monthly flavors (so check what's available at that time) Delivery was seamless, right on schedule and according to instructions. These are Korean style macaroons - which are usually bigger and thicker than the usual ones you see. Stuffed with buttercream that makes the filling extra tasty and also easy to share if need be. While on a zoom chat with friends, The Social Blend came up in our conversation. A friend had ordered a box of their macarons for Mother's Day and recommended the rest of us to give it a try as well. So the next morning, I ordered their Signature 9 Box (can mix and match the flavours) and it comes with free delivery if order is $30+ pretax. They do deliveries in different areas on different days and have a few different pickup options too. Life is full of surprises! That same afternoon, a friend stopped by and gifted me a box of 9 she had picked up at the cafe's physical store! The box came with a flavour profile card but a few of the flavours were different to the ones actually picked. I received: matcha kitkat, injeolmi, earl grey, pistachio, strawberry crunch, milk chocolate, dalgona coffee (May exclusive), mango (May exclusive), and blueberry cheesecake. These are Korean-style macarons so the shells are a bit chewier and they are STUFFED. The filling is super fat! They were not super sweet and each of the unique flavours do carry across. When biting into one, the filling reminds me of biting through a butter ball or ice cream. Personally, the pistachio, earl grey, matcha, strawberry and blueberry cheesecake were my favourites. Injeolmi had a piece of mochi on the inside that was a nice addition but I found the injeolmi flavour was a bit lighter and more subtle. Overall, I really enjoyed these and I think you should give it a go too. They have monthly rotating flavours and their June ones look pretty good (creme brulee and red velvet yummm). Some of the best sweets I've ever had!! I've never had Korean macarons before so on that front I don't have a direct gauge for comparison but as a sweets person I found these fatcarons to be up there among the yummiest things I've tasted! I've ordered from Social blend about 4 times now. Majority of the orders were for gifts but I did manage to get a box for myself the first time. I love how every macaron is so unique and you can really make out each individual flavour. They're so fun to try and so pretty to look at. They seem to have a lot of seasonal flavours and designs coming out from time to time which is exciting to look out for. They have a good variety of products too which are great as gifts. I've so far gifted a custom box of 9 as well as a gift collab with Alethea flowers, which includes their signature 9 box plus a cute succulent. Only reason for the 4 star is because the price point is a bit on the higher end so I would only really order from them for special occasions (less than I'd ideally like to.. lol). I also experienced a disappointing hiccup with one of my gift orders which I would have never found out about unless I asked my friend to give me a breakdown of what they got. I ordered a custom box of 9 and 3 of the flavours were incorrect. More on the minor side, they forgot to include the note that they were supposed to put with the gift. For the price point and considering I ordered the custom box for a reason, it was disappointing to have 1/3 of the box with flavours I did not ask for. I did reach out to them to which they apologized for (they also have fast response times via IG which is really nice), and I acknowledge things are probably hectic for them these days. That being said, I would without a doubt recommend this place for their tasty macarons.. The buttercream is light and fluffy, not too sweet, and the shell adds the nicest crunch. I got a box of 9 and luckily we went at the end of the month which meant that I got to pick this month's and next month's flavours as well. From their classic flavors, I enjoyed the earl gray and the injeolmi very much. I kinda wished I bought their Dacquoise which look soft and interesting. I've been wanting to visit The Social Blend for quite some time but hesitated because of its location and relative convenience for me. As a result, I was very happy to find out that they were doing deliveries during COVID-19, with free delivery for orders over $30! Placing my order via their website was simple, as everything was laid out easily with the online form and all information was found on the site as well (e.g. flavors of the macarons, delivery dates and the associated areas, costs, process, etc). I requested for their Signature box (of 9 macarons) to be delivered to my house on my associated area date and specified for contactless delivery. This meant that they would deliver it to my door and ring the bell to notify me, but I'd be paying via e-transfer (they sent me an email with my total amount and said that anything extra I paid would be given to the driver as gratuity). Lo and behold, on my specified date, I recieved a text from the driver to let me know that he was five minutes away! This was around 7 pm (and I had previously been told via email that they begin deliveries around 4-5 pm). When he did arrive, he not only left it at the door and rung the bell, but texted me and waited to see me pick up my package as well! My macarons were in a cute brown paper box (same as when you usually order from them) and a paper bag as well. Opening the box itself was very exciting as everything was so beautifully packaged and the macarons themselves are stunning! I have yet to try all the flavors, but the ones I have tried are very good so far. More importantly, things taste fresh and the texture is good. The aesthetics of this spot are amazing. Absolutely love the ambience of the cafe and the staff are super friendly and pleasant. The macarons are beautifully made and are literally works of art. I wish I liked these as much as everyone else did in terms of taste and texture. The cookies were delicious, however, the texture of the cookie was very dense and didn't give that satisfying bite I usually get from other macarons (or Korean style macarons in particular). The buttercream filling was just not it for me - was like a blob of buttercream that lacked taste (there were some exceptions though). The toppings like the cheesecake, blueberry, and kitkat honestly helped out a bit with the enjoyability. I love the branding of the social blend and the looks. My husband had a drip coffee which he also said was delicious. The service was really welcoming and friendly, and super helpful as I asked a lot of questions. We got 5 macarons but there were so many flavours to choose from, it was overwhelming!! They look very delicate but they are easier to eat then I expected, they don't just fall apart which is great. Really cute and trendy place with beautiful baked goods and coffee. I visited briefly on Sunday morning and picked up a couple of macarons as a gift. The store is beautiful, cozy and welcoming. They have some product in the front like masks, candles, and hair scrunchies available to purchase but I was more interested in the macarons. I saw pictures online so was super excited to order these overstuffed macarons in unique flavours. The people working there were super nice and patient as I picked out my flavours. I opted for matcha, tiramisu, raspberry and earl grey. They came wrapped in a really nice box with a postcard containing a guide with their flavours. This was a perfect little gift for someone as it was packaged beautifully and it added that extra value. The macarons itself were not bad, the cookie wasn't as chewy as I usually like and the cream wasn't so much a ganache but more of a firm whipped cream. The flavours were very subtle as well, I think I would have preferred stronger flavours. The price was on the higher end, around $4 and some change per piece. They do come packaged beautifully and they are heftier than a standard macaron so it's not completely outrageous. I'm not sure I'd order them again but I'd go back to try their coffee and maybe some other treats! I've been meaning to try The Social Blend for the longest time but their location was way too far for me to drive.. until I found out they did delivery! Super convenient for those who don't live downtown and they also offer free delivery if you spend over $50. The first time I decided to try out the signature 9 macarons and the signature 6 dacquoise. They are super generous with the filling and each macaron has its own "twist" which adds a uniqueness to the flavour. The dacquoise is more simple and softer than the macarons, but personally I enjoyed them equally as much! I've also tried the Santa box which comes with delicious festive flavours - eggnog brulee, marshmallow hot chocolate, gingerbread, etc. Although I still prefer the signature 9, the Santa box is definitely worth trying out and great as a Christmas treat for friends/family. Disclaimer - I like the macarons, just a reflection of my overall experience. I've seen this spot on social media, but given the location was far for me, never got around to trying it. I then found out about their delivery process, where they have drivers rotate between certain GTA areas throughout a week for deliveries. I was looking for a birthday present so decided to give it a shot, with a delivery for Sunday. I ordered the Signature 9 macaron set and the fruit dacquoise. On delivery day, I did not receive any notification and was left hanging for the entire day. Unknown to me, it had been left at the front desk of my condo, and had been sitting there for a few hours. The fillings on the items had melted a bit which was certainly disappointing. Given the long wait I also had to look for additional items as a birthday present. I was eventually able to try another delivery at a later date which went as planned, so kudos to the owner for giving a prompt response and clarifying the situation. The flavours and aesthetics were good - my favourites were the Blueberry Cheesecake and Matcha Kitkat macarons.
