I love a good dive bar and this place delivers! It's definitely "snug" on the inside as the name suggests but I love the small & cozy vibes. I came here for dinner with my husband and a friend. I ordered the fish & chips and they were great! A huge portion size of lightly battered flaky fish served with an excellent tartar sauce. The fries were the "good kind" that are crispy on the outside and soft/hot on the inside. The coleslaw was bland but that didn't take away from the meal at all. My husband got the steak tips. He said they were cooked correctly and tasted good. My friend got the chicken pot pie and it looked amazing; a bowl full of pie covered with a large pastry puff. I will definitely be trying this next time I come here. If you love a good dive bar, check this place out!

Grew up in this area, but only discovered The Snug last week when returning home for a funeral. So happy I did. We ended up going back again and again for a perfect Guinness (the best I've ever had in the U.S.) and some delicious wings and Shepherds Pie. Highly recommend. Not just a foodie... I'm also a staple of the Pittsburgh food & drink scene (author of the book Pittsburgh Drinks) and own my own bar in Pittsburgh (Poetry Lounge). So those are my credentials, and I say this place is a new favorite would go to religiously if I lived in the area.

Great pint of Guinness... it is, as the name implies "snug" inside. A classic little pub with a great outdoor patio, friendly staff and a true "Guinness pour". In a classic New England town in South Shore.

We finally returned to The Snug since before COVID restrictions. We loved the Irish music and oldies bands. We arrived before the music this evening and were lucky to be seated immediately. It is usually crowded and noisy. Our server was personable and got our drinks and food quickly. The Snug is, as the name suggests, a snug Irish pub filled with Irish memorabilia. The Smithwicks had a plump foamy head and is lighter than Guinness. My SO's sangria had a hint of peach schnapps flavor. The Greek salad was more than enough for two. The fried haddock sandwich was so big I thought it was the fish dinner. The fish was flaky with a crunchy exterior and the roll was soft and delicious. I had it served with vegetables; the carrots and green beans were tasty but the broccoli was cold. The appetizing chicken salad sandwich was a bit different; shredded chicken and craisins were on a hot dog bun and the mayo was on the side. We will return to The Snug soon to enjoy the music, food and drinks.

Cozy place for a proper Guinness and a glass of Jameson. Friendly staff, nice crowd on a Saturday night.

I usually consider most Irish pubs rather uncivilized. But this is probably a more expensive establishment that provides all right food

We were seated within a few minutes of arriving, which was nice. Our server was great - greeted us right away and went through the specials for the evening. We started with drinks - my cosmo was delicious (nice that it comes in the shaker and she poured it at the table), and bread. The corned bread was ok - it came with plenty of butter. On to the entrees - I had the chicken picatta, which was good, and came with a generous portion of linguini. My friend had the steak tips (on the specials menu) which came with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Trivia was a lot of fun - more old school style of writing answers and point wagers on paper for each round, and bringing it up to the quiz master. We will definitely be back for trivia, and dinner, again soon!

The food offerings include a selection of sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, appetizers, main entrees (steak, pasta, chicken, comfort dishes), desserts, and kids menu. The bar has 12 draft beers, bottle/can beers & seltzers, wine, and cocktails. The prices are moderate high. The dining room has a full service bar with seating & small TVs and table seating with great views of the golf course. I stopped by Ironwood for a late lunch and took a seat at the bar. The bartender brought over menus to look over and went over some specials including special flatbreads. I eventually decided on the Crispy Haddock Sandwich ($22 plus tax) with fries, which came out in about 10 minutes. This stacked sandwich had a thick hand breaded fried haddock filet with remoulade sauce, shredded lettuce & sweet pickles on a toasted brioche bun. The golden fries with skins were salted and very hot. After I finished my filling lunch, I was promptly offered "any dessert???" I chose the Sticky Toffee Pudding ($12 plus tax), which was comprised of a warm toffee cake topped with salted toffee sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This dessert was so good! The check was presented which was $36.38 with tax and before tip. Overall, a great sitdown lunch and I was able to catch most of the Celtics game on the TVs.

On our first night in Salem, my friends and I chose this place for dinner, and we were immediately glad we did. Every dish tasted homemade and full of flavor, and the service, especially from our server Elisha, was warm, attentive, and personable. We started with the charred broccoli mac & cheese, which arrived piping hot and baked to perfection. Every bite was rich, creamy, and delicious. Honestly, it's up there with the best mac & cheeses I've ever had. For entrées, we shared the shepherds pie and the steak tips. The shepherds pie, made with a hearty mix of lamb, beef, peas, carrots, house mashed, and cheddar cheese, was fresh and perfectly balanced. The steak tips were cooked to our liking, tender, and seasoned beautifully. Both dishes were comforting and satisfying. Olde Main Street Pub delivered exactly what we were hoping for: great food, genuine service, and a cozy atmosphere. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Salem.
