The Auction House is quite literally all the best parts of Wayland, MI wrapped up in one dining experience. When you walk into this simple brick outbuilding of the livestock auction, you might be taken back by how tiny it is really is. About 20 seats wrapped around a U shaped counter. If all the seats are filled, just be patient and hang out by the door, something will open up soon. If you need seats together, it is not unusual to see a whole row of customers get up and shift their seats around to make room for you. That's just what you do because it's the right thing to do. Very Wayland. You'll also want to prepare yourself for small talk. When you sit at the counter, it's more like sitting at a giant dinner table in your kitchen at home. There's plenty of regular customers and it won't take long for you to become one yourself. Amy's food is outstanding and, trust me, you won't go hungry. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito, but people also go nuts for the HUGE pancakes and omelettes. Don't want a HUGE pancake? Ask for a little one...I dare you. See what happens. I also had the Detoxifying Green Juice, and it was excellent--no complaints whatsoever! It was exactly what I look for in a good green juice: fresh, flavorful, and packed with those clean, healthy ingredients. The service is always top notch, which makes the experience even better. Usually they have around 5 standard meals to choose from and a couple premium add-ons which are only a few bucks more than a normal meal. The quantity of meals you order is how pricing is determined. This past week, I got 6 standard meal plan meals and an add-on salad for around $67 which I think is totally fair. Meals can range from potatoes, chicken and gravy to couscous bowls to Mac and cheese and onward. I have yet to have a meal I don't like, flavor wise. Pickup is from Sunday to Tuesday I believe. Usually I just swing by after work on Monday. Super quick in and out. You can choose to pay ahead of time online when you place the order or just pay when you pick up. The main things I like about this service/option is it saves me time trying to plan and cook meals every day and the portion sizes make for a healthier option I enjoy!
