We also loved the chicken schnitzel, the burrata, and the black bean hummus--everything tasted fresh, generous, and thoughtfully prepared. The menu does an excellent job showcasing Texas comfort food with creative, seasonal touches. And dessert was unforgettable. The croissant bread pudding and blackberry crumble were absolutely incredible--rich, comforting, and generous enough to share, although I wouldn't blame anyone for keeping them all to themselves. The drinks and Texas wine selection were equally impressive, and the peach margarita is a must-try. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our server was attentive, personable, and offered excellent recommendations without ever being intrusive. I read someone else's review stating that the crust does not stay attached to the meat. I thought it might've been a one time thing... It wasn't.... The crust disconnects like a sock coming off a foot. Work on this. This is not right. The crust needs to be integrated into the meat. It's not supposed to be a sleeve fitting over the meat. It's not a jacket that the meat takes off once it sits down on the plate. And the meat is not tender. There's ligaments, veins, or whatever these little hard to cut stringy things holding the meat together are. There's too much trouble/shooting necessary on the CFS at Hondo's. Get the Cheeseburger instead.
