We were in Fredricksburg, Texas this last summer or 2025 and at Jacks Chophouse where we had the opportunity to drink some Garrison Bros Lady Bird 114-proof. It was fantastic so the hunt was on to find me bottle so I drove 20 miles on out to Hye, Texas to the distillery to fetch me a bottle. The sad news Lady Bird was not to be found, but I did buy a bottle of 115-proof Balmorhea and had a few samples at their gift shop from some lovely ladies that took great care of me. The Texas State Troopers were all over US-290 between Hye and Fredricksburg so I didn't do the full tasting event which was either a big regret or saved my ass from the troopers. This said, you have to tour this distillery when in the area as you won't regret it. It's like if you go to Egypt you have to see the pyramids, well in Hye, Texas you have to tour Garrison Brothers.

5/6/25: First time at the distillery as a volunteer bottling crew. Had a great time, meeting new people, and Leia was great. I learned a lot about the distilling process, bottling and packaging, and got to sample plenty of great TX bourbon! They certainly take care of the bottling crew. Hot breakfast and lunch for both days, and super friendly atmosphere. The staff takes great pride in the product they provide, and are eager to share their knowledge and passion. I would certainly drive 4 1/2 hours to participate again! They make you feel like family! I really liked that they support Military Veteran's causes, and that Military Veterans and First Responders are recognized. I am happy to be a brand ambassador!

I don't drink (but taste a little) so didn't expect to enjoy the tour so much. Jeff and Danza were very knowledgeable, welcoming, and fun guides. I was amazed at the science and expertise it takes to produce Garrison's excellent Bourbon. The staff members we met were obviously proud of their craft. This was a great experience for me, even as just the designated driver! --Joanne F.

Thank you for contribution towards a really nice day. My wife and I were celebrating our 29th anniversary and were looking for something different to do together. Bourbon is something we have in common so a trip to Hye sounded like a great idea. A great idea indeed. We really enjoyed the food, beverages and tour. Jeff and Mike did a great job. Jeff (Aaron Rodgers) kept us entertained and informed. Nice energy and enthusiasm. We'll be back some day for a tasting and will definitely share our experience with friends.

I knew of Garrison Brothers distillery (Hadn't had any of their bourbon yet.) but only accidentally discovered it was an hour away from San Antonio while visiting my daughter's family for the holidays. So of course i had to visit. I signed up for a tour and added a guided tasting as well. I had signed up 3 of us but only 2 of us could make. I read on their website that cancelations needed to be 24 hours in advance so i had already written off the cost of one tasting but i let them know we would be short one for the tour and tasting and they happily reimbersed me for the tasting. (Tours are free for veterans, which the one that made it and the one that didn't were, and mine was only$10.) The tour was great and I really enjoyed the Small Batch samples we got to try! One small one in the bottling room. (Check out their bottling volunteering program, I'm certainly going to, especially if we end up retiring to San Antonio in a decade or so. The tasting was also great. It consisted of 5 pours including the Small Batch, Honey Dew, 2 different single-barrels, and the Balmorhea, which is mamed after a nearby state park that they help support. Surprisingly, I most enjoyed the Small Batch. The Balmorhea had the most amazing nose i have ever experienced, but unfortunately it fell short of expectations (personal opinion) on the palate. While sitting for the tasting I'm fairly certain that I saw Dan and Nancy Garrison walk by but unfortunately they were headed the other way so didn't get the opportunity to meet them. Before leaving we hade a bite to eat. I ordered the sausage sampler and it was way better (size and flavor) than expected. Finally we stopped at the gift shop and i was surprised to see the had the famous Cowboy Bourbon still available. You needed to buy a bundle of 4 bourbons to get a 2025, which was out of my price range I'm sure (didn't ask). But i picked up the 2024 that I'll save for a bottle share someday. I was hoping for a Red White and Bourbon Small Batch as well since that's what seemed to be currently being worked on in the volunteer bottling room, but no such luck. Hopefully ill get the chance. If there was one disappointment it was the Glencairns that i purchased (one for me and one to be mt son-in-law's first). I get one from every distillery i visit, and this one is my 12th. On the tour, at the tasting, in the Whisky Shack restaurant, i kept seeing these super awesome Glencairns with the Texas star on them. I must have seen hundreds of them in the 4 hours we were there. But the ones in the gift shop (minus the star) were rather bland/mundane. Not sure why anyone would change it. I was actually excited about getting the other one and placing it front and center. This one doesn't really stand out and will be placed off to the side somewhere. I did ask about getting one of the older ones with the star but the "NO" came almost too quick, like they had already been asked this a hundred times. I hope the "super awesome" one is back by my next visit as I'd much rather be drinking my Cowboy from it.

I had a great time volunteering with Garrison Brothers as a Maquiladora. JD and Matt were great hosts, trainers, educators and brought the energy to our team that finished the packaging and production of the famously awarded Texas Small Batch Bourbon. I learned a lot, gained some new friends and am looking forward to enjoying some nice bourbon and remembering my two days in Hye, Texas.

My wife brought us here for a tour of the distillery and lunch for our anniversary. It was time well spent. The tour was really interesting and all the staff knew everything about the company and operation. After the tour, we ate at the restaurant and went to the gift shop. I got a couple of the bourbon glasses and the honey infused bourbon. I tried the bourbon tonight and it is very enjoyable. The honey is very present but subtle. It does not leave a lingering aftertaste like other whiskeys and bourbons I have had before by well known distillers.

Bottling volunteer at Garrison Brothers whiskey distillery!

I had an opportunity to volunteer and bottle whiskey at the Garrison brothers distillery. It was a wonderful experience. Gives perspective on what it takes to prepare one of those bottles to see at your liquor store shelves. I would definitely volunteer again.

Everything about the volunteer bottling experience was fantastic, a bucket list experience. The staff was friendly, super helpful and knowledgeable. They made it fun for all. I'd Hye-ly recommend doing this if you can get in!

Ive waited a while to do this review and feel like I have a good handle on how I feel about this place. To summarize, I enjoyed the tour, but I think it was WAY overpriced. The tour was $20, and only included two tastings at the end. You can buy an (expensive) drink yourself at a bar during the tour. I think it was $14-18? And if you decide you like the bourbon and want to buy some, their standard bottle will set you back around $50. Is it good bourbon? Sure? But I don't think it matches the price point. I wanted to love this place and support local, but I just think it missed the mark for me.
