Salmon w mashed potatoes and zucchini
Gina M.

My hubs had the burger with bacon and Draft Amber. The fries were really good (I stole a few). I had the salmon w mashed potatoes and zucchini which was perfectly prepared. Usually zucchini is mush when you get it in a restaurant. The herbs & butter in the salmon were well balanced and flavorful tho the salmon we a little over done. I prefer salmon between medium rare and medium. Service: I have food allergies and the server was good at calling out anything I might not be able to eat as I asked about some of the ingredients. And she accommodated my switch from the 5 grain side since it had one of my allergens. The mashed potatoes were creamy and a nice compliment to my meal. We ordered their Apple cobbler and ice cream to go. It was really good. Hit the comfort food spot w oatmeal topper and just the right amount of cinnamon with tender and juicy apples. Ambiance: we were there after dark and sat on the "water side" of the house. Meaning we were in a booth that had a view of birch bay. We could see lights twinkling around the bay. They had great music playing in the background and were really able to have a nice dinner date on our weekend away.

Chicken Bacon wrap, potato salad, side salad

So, camping in the area and my wife decided she wanted to go out for a salad at lunch time. After searching Yelp, I always do, I found this restaurant was the only one that had several types of salad, but the reviews weren't great. Glad we decided to try the restaurant. Although there was only one server she was outstanding ! No waiting to be seated, drinks were quick and the food was delicious ! Waited maybe 15 after we sat down for the food. 6 other groups beside us, so it was busy.

I have come here twice this year so far. Sat at the bar both times and got food both times. I have yet to have a bad experience with service or food. But I did go with a "regular". The last time I went the person two seats down were a little rude as I was in "their seat" but that's not a reflection on the bar itself. Food was great, fantastic tasting, homemade beer battered fish with delish home made tartar sauce. Drinks are well made as well. Great location right on the water. Plenty of parking as well. Overall a good spot and I will be back!

We ordered out several orders of fries and one of fish and chips to eat at the Beach Cat brewery. We all agreed that fries were great and the fish was good. Not a 5 star since I can't judge the restaurant solely on this limited experience. I would recommend what we ate. Further research may change the rating.

I came here for a New Year's Eve party that was advertised and the bartender Carliwas dressed up, but nobody else. She's the only one working here and running so hard to keep up that we didn't even get the 9 o'clock countdown for New York. I was really disappointed. I dressed up and left another place to come here for the countdown.

Bacon cheeseburger - little overcooked but fries were great

The restaurant is by the 18th hole of the golf course, a great location. We had the option to pick from a indoor and outdoor table, we chose to sit outside on a great day. They have umbrellas that make it comfortable to sit out in the setting sun. We got the soup of the day, Wild Halibut and Saffron Risotto, and Bucatini & Clams. We liked the soup, both the Wild Halibut and Saffron Risotto and Bucatini & Clams were both great. We loved them both. I also enjoyed a Raspberry Whiff. We finished with Chai Creme Brulee. It was great, a lovely end to our meal.

I was really disappointed that they only did brunch 1 day a week, but we did come back for it. Service every time was wonderful. The appetizer was bruschetta which is a go-to for me. It was delicious, however the balsamic was really thick and there probably shouldn't have been so much. I did happily eat it all. For the dinner we had scallop with red pepper risotto and mushroom pierogis. The scallops were big and perfectly cooked. The red pepper risotto however was a little overwhelming in the red pepper flavor. My husband thought it was delicious and ate it. The pierogis seemed really underwhelming and store bought. It was cheese pierogis with mushroom and arugula on the outside. I feel like if they were made in-house, the mushroom would be on the inside. They were still really good and I ate them all as well. The brunch is the thing I waited for. The lemon ricotta pancakes were to die for! They were so perfectly soft and cakey. I sadly couldn't eat them all because they were so large so I recommend sharing. Those were definitely the star of the show. I don't plan to come back to this area but if I do I would 100% come here again for the brunch. The dinner menu does change by season so I recommend looking at the menu online.

There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. Everything about it makes for a truly nice experience, and we'll definitely be back.

Shame on me for waiting until the last minute to book--but the availability should have been the real warning. The evening began with a fundamental misstep in pacing. The Caesar salad arrived with the main course, collapsing any sense of progression or structure to the meal. We also had to ask for bread--something that, on prior visits, arrived promptly with the wine. This time, the bread appeared only after both salad and entrée were already on the table. The server apologized for the delay, explaining they had to "make more." What arrived, however, was plainly sliced, cold bread--hardly something that required production time. The chicken marsala itself was a study in restraint--mostly empty plate, punctuated by a small, overcooked piece of chicken. Dry and lifeless, it was buried beneath a heavy mushroom gravy and paired with thick, gluey polenta that leaned more toward paste than comfort food. Balance was nowhere to be found. The Caesar salad offered little redemption. Greens that should have been cold and crisp were limp and tepid, while the croutons provided chew instead of crunch. These are foundational details, and when the basics falter, everything else feels off. Poor service compounded the lackluster experience. The staff appeared frantic and inexperienced, creating an atmosphere of disorganization rather than hospitality. Timing was off, attention inconsistent, and the overall rhythm of service never settled. Dining out--especially on a holiday meant for indulgence--should feel intentional. This meal felt rushed, underwhelming, and oddly careless. Between the meager portions, poorly executed dishes, awkward timing, and chaotic service, the evening landed squarely in disappointment.
