    Lake Champlain Room
    Tim F.

The place has been an inn since the late 1700's and is now a great B&B with a gastropub. In my mind, definitely one of the best B&B's I have stayed at. During our visit, we stayed in the Lake Champlain room which has a queen bed as well as a day bed for our little one. Rooms are good size and very well decorated with period furniture. Most rooms, including ours, come with shower and bath, although I think one or two of the rooms have shared baths. The real treat is the gastropub that serves very high quality meals, which incorporates local meats and vegetables. I had a tender pork loin with rosemary potatoes and broccoli. Folks at our table raved about the steak they had. Dessert was a free form strawberry pie which was absolutely delicious! On top of that the prices were very reasonable, especially given the quality of the food. Breakfast which consisted of fresh berry pancakes, maple sausage, juice, muffin, yogurt and coffee was just as phenomenal! There is definitely a close eye to detail paid by the proprietors of this fine B&B. We would definitely come back for another stay, if we happen to be in the area.

It's well-worth the drive to the village of Shoreham, Vermont to experience consistently top-notch cooking and a great atmosphere.

The restaurant was built around a 1921 Hacker Craft wooden boat, beautifully restored by friends of mine at Morgan Marine in Silver Bay, NY. The boat used to house an actual salad bar, pre-Covid. Now it's just a beautifully appointed mahogany boat in a big room just past the hostess station. The rest of F&I is a series of small and large rooms, some very intimate. There are artifacts everywhere (that you need to explore). Recently visited w best friend, Locomotive Breath (formerly known as Zagbolt). Sat at the bar. Seemingly lots of locals. Very capably waited on by bartender Andre. He was effective, efficient, and gregarious. Perfect young man for the job. We split a dozen wings (one of the specials which were smothered in an orange, peppery glaze). Delicious! I also had a cheeseburger w bacon. Perfectly broiled on a substantial bun. And onion rings. Plentiful. LB had a mesquite chicken panini w mashed. He loved it. Large selection of tapped and bottled beer, wine, alcohol of all kinds. One thing that kind of caught my attention was another patron's prime rib. Very fatty, on the thin side, $39. Did not think it was a good presentation or value. F&I is still one of the best restaurants around. Museum-like, and good food. Curtailed hours compared to years past, and looking for help (of all kinds). 4 stars

We made waitlist reservations and they were pretty close so seating was an issue but they are really, really busy at peak times. For the place itself, I believe it's an old church? The beer is great and they have one of those dome hockey games that I'm addicted to themed to the 1980 Olympic Game of USSR vs USA. LOVE IT! . Best food and atmosphere in town!

They do have a second floor dining area for large parties. English pub style. Food is relatively good. We are here 3 out of the 5 days we were in Lake Placid, mostly out of convenience. Service is okay, depending on who you get. They are super busy all the time and if your server isn't on point they will forget things. Their Ubu beer is the best beer there. The cranberry cider is pretty good as well. Shepards pie had very little meat/filling with a larger mashed potato ratio. Apple pie sounds great on paper but had little filling, leaving it super dry because it's baked as an individual personal pie. The whipped crème fraiche was delicious. Wings were nicely fried, crispy on outside and tender inside. Sourdough grilled cheese could've been better by using any other cheese besides Kraft singles. Clam chowder is superb. Beet salad was okay. Turkey burnt ends did not impress me and it's suppose to be their most popular dish. Chicken tenders were delicious. Fried fish was amazing! Huge piece of fish, served with tartar sauce and a side of incredible fries. Detroit style pizza is lackluster. The dough could've been cooked longer as it was underdone.

We ordered a few drinks and appetizers prior to our dinner plans. The wings are a must try as we had both the buffalo and maple sriracha wings. Both were extremely well seasoned and flavored. The meat itself was tender and moist. The pretzel bites were delicious and soft. However the beer cheese could have had more flavor to it and consistency it felt a bit watery. All of our drink were delicious. My raspberry sour is definitely a new favorite. Service was efficient the only mishap we had was she asking for our bill they gave us the wrong tables and when we corrected them they seemed shocked of our honesty.

It was a very short drive and the parking facilities were good .. the interiors and seating were good too. Lots of space inside to sit and drink. Service was good, and the waitress was always smiling and took care of us well. Being a brewery one thing that surprised me was they just had one IPA on the tap.. just one IPA.. can you believe it? I was eager and waiting to drink a home grown New England/Vermont IPA but all we had there was one variety... it was a hazy IPA and don't get me wrong. It tasted really well... but I wish they had more options. They also had a wheat ale and some wine varieties.... Even in the food front, the menu was limited and less options.. We ordered chicken wings, and it was ok. Sauce was a bit sweet .. one of the sauces was really good and spicy . Overall, it fell short of my expectation and wish they had more food and drink options.. 3 stars ...
