Bartender is very friendly and a great mixologist! Miss having a variety of spirits besides their brand. Food was awesome! Service was amazing! Ken was very entertaining as bar and wait staff! And with exception of the place having no customers except for my work colleague and myself. Sometimes the food is secondary to the experience. This is one of those times. We stumbled upon War Cannon on our way to see the eclipse from Lake Champlain. We stopped for lunch and wound up staying for the eclipse. Food was very good, but even better were the people, both the staff and the other patrons. We live locally and have been here 3 times now, they definetly have some kinks to work out. If you have a very limited menu as they do, all that comes out of the kitchen should be top notch. 2 times we have had cold food, very small portions and high end pricing. Parking lot is a mud pit. A friend and I came here for lunch.The friendly bartender gave us a tour of the building, to all three floors. Loved how they restored this old building. We ordered pulled pork nachos and parmesan/garlic chicken wings. Wings were 5/5, nachos 4/5. Food arrived promptly, as there were only a few other patrons at that time. It has a small gift shop, that sells alcohol, clothing, and cute lanterns. It didn't have an attendant, which made, one of the employees uneasy when my friend went back, looking for the restroom. War Cannon Spirits is a great addition to the North Country. A great place to go for a custom cocktail, some delicious noshing, or one of the fine selection of canned or bottled beers, and wines. The menu is what I would call elevated pub food, featuring some delicious meats - chicken wings, pork, brisket- which are smoked on site. Chicken wings are served with one of four sauces and the brisket and pork are turned into sandwiches, paired with nachos and cheese or combined with a delicious, creamy Mac and cheese. Thanks to NYS laws which encourage local vendors, you can buy a variety of NY wines and liquors, including War Canon's own whiskey in the shop area in a separate room. The bottled Bloody Mary mix is really tasty, too You can also buy other locally crafted products like the wonderful soaps and scrubs made by Cody Lang at the nearby North Road Soap Company There is a beautiful bar, and informal inside seating and, with the warmer weather, outdoor seating, too. There are three floors and lots of space and I understand they are available for and have been used for larger events A final word or two about the cocktails- a very nice selection of interesting cocktails, expertly made by the talented and friendly Kenny, formerly of the Marriott Marquis in the heart of Times Square, but with ties to the North Country and living here. He adjusted my wife's cocktail to make it less sweet, just like she wanted it. Nice selection of wines and canned and bottled beers, too. A word about prices - at $15 for a cocktail, these prices are fair and reasonable by Albany or NYC standards, but more than you might expect in the North Country. We think it's a fair value for an interesting and delicious cocktail, made by a really nice, knowledgeable and accommodating guy. We love stopping in for a delicious nosh and interesting cocktails. I'm a huge fan of local distilleries and was excited to see this pop up while vacationing in the area. The whisky and drinks here were good but I was surprised that more cocktails didn't feature the war cannon brand. The food was ok. With it being a Monday night they were out of a lot of the food we were excited to try (no macaroni, paninis or brisket. We drove 40 minutes to try this and while it was ok, I wouldn't go out of my way to do it again. It was nice that there was outdoor seating but with only one waiter we were told service out there would be really slow. The staff was really nice and very apologetic. This is a great dog and people friendly place. We enjoyed a shared brisket flatbread pizza with French Quarter cocktails (made with their whiskey and pecan liquor). Great service! Our waiter was attentive but not in your face, even brought ice water for our pup. If it a nice day, I would highly recommend sitting out on the back porch. read more

Been several times now. The drinks are wonderfully crafted and served with kind smiles. The menu has a bit of a history about the War Cannon. Food is good. But the menu is small. And after my family and I have been several times we have tried everything. The old Agway building has been rightfully restored. The wood and the natural layout is nice to dine in. Pretty underwhelming. The best part of the meal was the pita bread. The wings mostly tasted like Italian dressing with chunks of garlic on top. The wings themselves were cooked to perfection. The sauce was pretty rough though. Also took a while to come out and both were appetizers. And the hummus plate was something I could have easily prepared myself. Coffee available for most if not all day, pastries in the morning, barbecue menu for lunch and dinner. I ordered a Paper Plane which while being a classic but obscure whiskey cocktail was garnished with a cherry as opposed to a lemon peel. I think they weren't expecting an off menu cocktail and just went with the garnishes on hand. Food is a short but approachable menu, spiced nuts, hummus plate, and Mac n cheese available for sharing (can be topped with BBQ chicken, pork, or brisket when available). Same meat options available in sandwich form very reminiscent of a Bahn Mi. French roll, pickles, and cole slaw with choice of side.
