Sat down, ordered a drink and got asked to show my ID for the second time for the manager to verify just for her to come to me and tell me that the picture doesn't look like me and tell me that NY state ID pictures are retaken when you turn 21 which is absolutely false. As a manager you should have some common sense to know these basic rules. I have never had this happen at any other restaurant, club, any other establishment not when I was freshly 21 and not 6 years later except for now. The manager was rude, disgusting, and wrong as ever. At the end of the day the manager and restaurant was unwelcoming and didn't want us there. I can't speak for the other locations but I wouldn't advise anyone to spend their hard earned money at a bigoted racist place like this. Do better. read more

Went for New Years Day Brunch, first time going as well. Wonderful visit, food and service were fantastic. Our server was very polite and attentive. Chicken and waffles is a delicious dish, I recommend ordering it. Omelettes are great as well, better than diner. My kids ordered pancakes and the pancakes were Mickey Mouse shape, they liked that. Great place to come for anything you desire for; breakfast, brunch, dinner, or just come by the bar for their drinks. My family of 4 (2 kids and 2 adults) came one afternoon for brunch, we didn't want to wait so we were allowed to sit by the bar with the kids. We were greeted warmly, our waitresses were very attentive. Love that they have mocktails, so my daughter ordered one to try. Love the selection of drinks. Forgot to mention about the great ambience and cozy decoration. Loved the coastal vibe! Went to the shed on a Friday around 1130a there was a 45 min wait and you cannot make reservations. That took me by surprise as it was a Friday and my intent was not waiting 45mins to sit down but I did. Anyways, i didn't take pics (I don't know if that's a good thing or bad) but the food was good. I had the chicken sandwich with hot honey and my friend had chicken and waffles. The sandwich was crispy and the hot honey was a nice add on, so it's a bit hard to tell how flavorful the sandwich itself was. It's a small place, good for breakfast / brunch. Reading all of the excellent reviews surprises me. Our experience was not good. We arrived around 11:00 today ( Saturday). The restaurant was not crowded. Seated promptly. I ordered the biscuit Benedict and hubby ordered the Farmer's Breakfast. While the food wasn't necessarily bad, it was disappointing. No seasoning on the steak and the eggs were all over cooked- from my poached eggs to my husband's over easy eggs. My order also lacked flavor and any seasoning, even the Hollandaise sauce was bland. Home fries were simply potatoes cooked in some oil that was pretty tasteless as well. We also ordered the skillet Mac and cheese which was a bit better, but underwhelming. One high point was our waiter who was friendly, quick to respond to requests, and efficient. Maybe their lunch and dinner items are better, but not sure we would go back to give this another try. read more

I love this place. Family friendly and delicious food. I love the beets and Brussels bowl with goat cheese instead of blue cheese. The French fries are awesome and the shed sauce is so good! Get a side of the sauce with whatever you order, you won't be disappointed. I visited this restaurant a couple of times for brunch. The first time, I had the biscuit Benedict. The biscuits were fluffy and delicious. The eggs were a little overcooked, which is actually what I prefer. The Hollandaise was nice and tart. The homefries were actually pretty lackluster compared to the rest of the meal, kinda bland and boring. Sweet potato fries were much more my style. The second time, I had the Shegg sandwich. The onion jam was just so delicious and lovely. The bacon was thick and high quality as well. I tried a little bit of the breakfast bowl and the chicken and waffles. They were both great, though the hot honey for the chicken was a little too hot. The drink menu is massive, filled with delicious-sounding cocktails, but I did not get to try any. It's a nice atmosphere and the staff members are very professional. You feel like you're at a very special place, but the food doesn't feel very overpriced. read more

First of all, understand that this is a suggestion review. The reason this place got a 2 star is because of the wait. The suggestion for the restaurant is to have an open table app set up like most internet era restaurants. It's a first come first serve kinda place and that's cool. But if you know the line is gonna be ridiculous (most of the time), wouldn't it make more business sense to have a reservation system set up and limit the sitting for around 2 hours for each table setting? This way your patrons have a way of gauging their schedule and the business have a secure bottom line on their return (not to mention logistical issues)? Instead you've got people waiting outside like they're waiting for food from a food pantry. We left after the first 15 minutes of wait. Today, I ,my brother and a family friend went out for lunch/brunch.We stopped to the Shed.The place was very filled both inside and the patio.The outside and interior was well decorated. Our server Eraldo was very polite, helpful and professional. My brother had the omelette, our friend and I had the steakhouse burger and we had some appetizers. The food was well cooked and we had well made Bloody Mary's.The menu is diverse and the portions are nice. There is plenty of parking and they have a full bar. The Shed Experience 5/23/2024 My Wife and I had just spent a harrowing time fighting rush hour traffic on the LIE and the Northern State and we decided to eat out and relax. As we passed the Shop Rite parking lot I decided to give the restaurants there a go. As we passed The Shed, I deciderd on The Shed . As I pulled into a vacant parking spot another car had just pulled in as well . As I left our car to secure my wife's wheel chair ( she is non ambulatory), and proceeding to the passenger side of our car, the driver of the car that was next to ours was getting our of her car. She asked if she could help my wife and I, which I respectfully declined. We had some nice words about life and the like and went on our ways to the restaurant. We chose the inside and ordered from a charming young lady our meal with beverages along with eggs for myself and pancakes for my wife. I did ask if the could lower the sound system as it was a bit loud and my nerves where on edge. She promptly gave it a go and returned to our table with assurance the sound would be lowered as much as possible. And we continued to enjoy the meal. (To me the on-going conversations of the dinners with the added sound was bit much) I asked if the sound system could be shut down. She left and returned with the sad news that it could not be shut down. She was very pleasant and I felt she had done all she could. We proceeded with enjoying our meal and on having my second cup of coffee, we asked for the bill. To our complete surprise, we were advised that the bill had been taken care of and she could not reveal the source. Barbara and I were surprised to say the least and being world travelers had never experienced a similar occurrence. What can we say but we hope to put The Shed on a well run and terrific experience. We've eaten at the Shed numerous times during the warm weather where we were able to enjoy dining al fresco in their inviting outdoor patio. Because I'm immunocompromised we've only eaten outside, and although the indoor space seems very inviting I can't comment on it. The menu at the Shed (Plainview) is somewhat limited, consisting of salads, burgers, omelette's accompanied by phenomenal home fries, and a number of seafood entree's. Although limited the menu is diverse enough to satisfy most people's desires. Some of the dishes I found outstanding were the hummus crudité, omelette's, various salads, and the highlight is the dessert consisting of a churro type waffle accompanied by 3 scoops of ice cream. lThe drinks, as well as the beer & wine selections are outstanding. My only minor complaint is the same that has become very common these days is that many of the servers appear to be new and although personable appear to be somewhat unsure of the menu. One final comment we've only gone for early dinner and we're seated immediately. I do hear that at times there can be a wait (no reservations accepted), especially on the weekends for brunch. read more

I love this spot. Its a go to for a weeknight dinner. It can get crowded and they don't take reservations during the weekend but the food is great and a decent portion size for the price in my opinion. I love the customer service, the managers are always so kind and have yet to find a rude wait staff. Our go to meals are the burger, chicken and waffles, and I love their brunch menus in general. We decided to return for dinner. The atmosphere was just as great as when we went before. From the hostess to the waitress (Emily?), the staff were super friendly and helpful. Two of us ordered the chop salad and I loved that The Shed had the turkey bacon option. Both of us loved the salad. 3.5 stars. I get that being in the burbs limits options but that's no reason to accept sub par execution. I came here for a last meal celebratory brunch and it was really inconsistent. Some dishes were awesome, others meh. It was just uneven. First things first, service and drinks were awesome. The issue we had were with the main entrees. Chicken sandwich and fish sandwich, both were constructed horribly and seasoned weak. i get LI is loaded with old white people but come on. Our table ordered a fish sandwich (comically large filets that could have fed x2). The sando barely held together with them both. Once one was removed it was easier to eat. Fried chicken sando (was forewarned it would be "hot" per the menu) left me wondering if they left out the heat entirely. There was no heat. It was like the cold dark vacuum of space. They could have served a solid block of ice between two buns and I wouldn't have known any different. No heat and minimal crisp....the chickens soul was sacrificed and desecrated. A little salt, cayenne, and pepper would have gone a long way. For the winners the Sweet potato fries were legit (seasoned and fried well). The French toast was also equally awesome. Loaded with bananas and served with a warmed bottle of syrup...it did its job well. We got a side of bacon that also was cook well. Salads were ok..not great but did the healthy trick. So maybe if there's a takeaway here, maybe the more traditional breakfast items are the way to go. The cocktail options were great too. Ambiance on the patio was also nice. I'm going to return and try more menu. It does have one major thing going for it, one of only of food options in a food desert aside from pizza. read more

To err is human, to make something right is devine. We went for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered an omelette that wasn't as ordered. I started to eat it anyway as I was famished. I called Tevin, our waiter over and told him that the omelette was not as ordered. His response was how can I make this right. I asked for an order of bacon as it among other. things was missing. A few moments later a new omelette was presented exactly as I ordered. Side benefit was that I ate half and was able to bring back the rest for my dog. The fresh iced tea was excellent. What can I say...from the moment we walked through the doors we were greeted with courtesy and respect. The staff at The Shed in Plainview are absolutely amazing. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is cozy and vibrant. The restaurant does not disappoint. We ordered buttermilk pancakes, hot honey chicken sandwich and an assortment of sides. The pancakes, my oh my, there are so fluffy and flavorful. Each time we visit we purchase a stack. The chicken sandwich drizzles with honey and flavor. Everything taste like it is made in grandma's kitchen. Our favorite drink is the shed lemonade. Just one drink will make you relax and giggle just a bit. The Shed also offers many gluten free options. Glen is an amazing host, even with a packed restaurant with guests waiting outside he made my family and I feel like the most important guests in the restaurant. On our second visit he remembered us :). This is a community based restaurant we will visit any time we are looking for good food and service. read more
