My first time here at this venue and they have more than 1 stage for more than 1 event going on. They got the main stage and black box with a waiting area with table games to kill time. I came here yesterday with my friends to go see MC Jin and it was a sold out venue. The main stage was pretty lit especially the lit up sign on stage. When MC Jin came on stage there was a huge standing ovation. I had a good time with his material and I admired his enthusiasm that did not let me down nor did I ever got bored. He kept the audience going on and alive. So I wish Second City had more food options because it just got 4 items for food. You got pickles, hummus, and fries for appetizers and only one entree on the menu, which is a burger with fries. That's not a lot of food options. My friends and I got fries and hummus to share. The portions were large for sharing. The hummus included pita bread, cucumbers, red bell peppers, and carrots. Pretty filling. Now with the drinks, Second City had a huge list. I ended up getting Learn Chinese cocktail, which is exclusively for the MC Jin venue. I was disappointed at the contents and how much was in my glass. They did not fill it up to the top. It was like 2/3s of the cocktail in the glass when they served it to me. I was so shocked at how little it was. It also did not get me hooked. It felt like nothing although it did taste fruity. Came to this venue to see Asian-American Actor/Rapper MC Jin stand-up comedy show. While MC Jin's show itself deserves 10/10, the venue is about four Yelp stars. The night's performance was amazing and funny and kept the crowd going the whole time. This Asian-American performer made his stance in the entertainment industry in the late 90's, early 2000's as a free style rapper on popular tv shows and of course signing with a major record label as well. His dabble into stand-up comedy is a great stepping stone to his diverse talent. MC Jin honed his skills of free-style rapping and can think on his feet in that split moment- goes a long way in comedy as well. Overall, Loved the show, the venue could have a bit more food items on the menu to choose from. read more

I wanted to love this place. And in many ways, I did. And I'll probably give it another chance. The main thing about Second City and me is that I've been to the original Chicago location. In Chicago, my friends and I laughed until we cried. One of my best friends still has a nickname acquired at Second City Chicago. The comedy was witty and funny and politically relevant. The show was cohesive and progressed naturally. Second City New York is still trying to find out who they are and who they want to be. The bits are a little clunky and don't flow well together. Very choppy. Missing that sophistication Chicago has. One second they are doing a skit about school kids, the next NYPD in the subway, then Harry Potter. That being said, I really loved the cast. I could tell they were funny people in real life, even if some of the skits fell flat. I could see they are cool people that I would enjoy hanging out with. There was a lot more audience interaction work here than in Chicago. I was actually part of the skits several times, to the point that the cast gave me kudos at the end for being a good sport. While this wasn't the funniest night I've ever had, it was fun, and the audience really seemed to enjoy themselves. Oh, and it didn't hurt that my seat was front row and center! So great view! The bartenders were great. Very welcoming and helpful. The service staff is still working out the kinks. I got overlooked at first because (as happens to me so often), I was a single party sat next to a group of a few. I finally got service and had the charcuterie platter, which was actually pretty good for a comedy club, and the deviled eggs (they were fine, but lacked seasoning, but what do you expect from deviled eggs at a comedy club). They also have burgers, fries, and some other sandwiches. I just didn't want to mess with dishes that heavy in a comedy venue. There were a couple drinks I had ordered from the bar that were decent. The Back Line (tequila reposed, mastic tears, agave, lemon juice, transatlantic bitters). I also had the Rave Review (mezcal, cappelletti aperitivo, heirloom pineapple amaro, lemon juice, and agave). I had a couple of other drinks as well, both a little too sweet for me. We also had a couple of mishaps during the night. At the beginning of the show, the fire alarm went off. So we stood outside for quite sometime while the FDNY came to shut it off. We got a complimentary drink ticket for that. And I already had two complimentary drink tickets because they changed the show time twice beforehand. Unfortunately, I only got credit for one of my tickets, but that's ok. I understand working out the kinks. Anyway, this place has a way to go, but this is just their inaugural season. I'm willing to stick around and see what happens as they grow into who they really want to be (let's be honest, I'm always rooting for New York over Chicago any day). read more

The staff were helpful and very accommodating! Bar was reasonably ok, but not enough room for people to stand. Not all menu items are available in all locations. Drinks are a bit pricey. Fries were great! But, for the price should have been double the amount of fries. The reason for the rating: the comedy itself was not good. Saw the show at 7pm sat 4/27. While I pride the group on their quick setups when the lights are off, there is no buildup into any of the jokes, the jokes themselves weren't consistently funny, and sitting on the second floor there were two skits only visible and audible from the bottom floor. Also it was hard to hear the performers from the back of the second floor behind a group that was quite loud. read more

We saw Sketch in the City at 10pm on a Friday evening. We arrived 30 min before show time and basically were the first ones there. All of the servers and hosts were very nice and even let us pick our seats when the front row was too close for us. The room was 75% filled for our show by 10pm. They have a small food and beverage menu and servers come around to the tables throughout the show. The performance was about an hour and 15 minutes. All of the performers were super talented, especially with the random terms our audience threw at them! I'd recommend for a fun date night! read more

What an amazing experience! Amazing comedians got there start here. The Neo Futurists put on an amazing show, and everyone was so welcoming! The cast invited us to hang out and have drinks after the show, they are so sweet! If I get back to NY this will be a for sure stop. read more

Amazing cast! Laughed so much it hurt. The bar and food was typical bar food but the drinks were surprisingly better than expected. We took the subway from Manhattan to Brooklyn and it was a quick 7 mins walk to the theater. The staff were super friendly and the ambience was great! Clean bathrooms. But the show was phenomenal!! Was super excited when this venue opened as obviously the original location is the place of legends, so had been wanting to come for some time. We saw a show on a Saturday night with a short opener and it was overall a great time. The beers were pretty cheap and the bar pretty accessible before the show. The crowd inside was intimate (not sure if the other spaces are as small) with a variety of seating options. Overall, excited to come back for another comic. read more

We had a great time at the show last night! We went to the Friday show at 7pm and it was a full house. Show was about 2 hours with an intermission. They performed prepared sketches mixed with improv scenes. The scenes were funny, the flow of the show was well done, and the actors were great. I couldn't find the food/drink menu online so I am including it here. You scan the QR code when you arrive. We got the two mocktails on the menu (pretty good), the fried chicken sandwich with fries (very good) and the chocolate parfait (very good). All the food came out fresh and fast. We got there a half hour before the show and we were able to eat at our seats before it started. They also continue serving during the show. DONT COME HERE. This is not a comedy club, this is some type of comedy theatre. I came here with a friend & we didn't even stay 5 minutes or touch any of our food/drinks. They refuse to give us a refund even after being told in person that I'd be able to receive one. Why are you calling yourself a comedy club? This is not stand up comedy. This isnt a comedy club. This is a live skit / Theater. You guys should be more clear with what this is. I paid $120 for a show I didn't even watch and they refuse to send me a refund for even half of the payment, even though we didn't stay to watch any of the show. Absolutely ridiculous, why are you coming up on google as a stand up comedy club? I should file a report with google as well .. DONT COME HERE!!
