I came to the Comedy Cellar at the Village underground with my friend. Please be sure to RSVP in advance. Tickets sell out quickly. There was a line for reservations, so get there a little early. Each patron has a two order minimum. You are not allowed to have your device out during the show. Upon entering they give you an envelope to put your smart devices in. It must stay sealed until the end of the show. The room is pretty dark and the lights on the table were dim, which made it challenging to read the menu. Our server was very nice and she was very helpful with menu questions. The drinks were good. I got the passion and heat and my friend got the cucumber 75. Both were really good. We also got an Oder of fries. They are shoestring fries. They serve them to you with a cup of ketchup and some salt packets. Fries were OK. They get cold pretty fast and when they're cold, they're not as tasty. They're kind of hard. We had a great show and there were some surprise celebrity guests. Definitely worth checking out when you're in New York City.

Went to the Comedy Cellar yesterday (Saturday) for the 6pm show and it turned out to be hilarious. I usually go to later shows since the jokes tend to get a bit spicier, but last night proved that no matter the time, Comedy Cellar always delivers. There's a two-item minimum purchase, and I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. It's free and super easy to do online. Phones are placed in sealed pouches during the show, which actually makes the experience even better because everyone is fully present. We had a few cocktails, beers, and wings and had a fantastic night. I think this was my 20th time here and I'll definitely keep coming back. Sometimes you just need a night full of laughter to clear your head, and Comedy Cellar is always a great place for that.

While we spent the weekend in New York City- we wanted to see some live standup which led us to the Comedy Cellar. We had a really wonderful experience! The staff were very kind, efficient, & helpful. We ordered sliders & French fries to share that all came out hot. As a woman who appreciates French fries these were exactly what I wanted- seasoned well & plenty for the both of us. We enjoyed the comedians we were able to see & the energy in the room was fantastic which they played to. Really great evening!

First time going to stand-up comedy in New York, and Comedy Cellar delivered 150%. Personally, I liked it more than Second City in Chicago. Laughed the entire time - so many talented comedians + occasionally they have celebrity guests. Make sure to book in advance and forget about personal space - seating is tight. Come see them - you'll thank me later. Can't wait to be back.

We went to the Comedy Cellar for the 7:30 shows hubs made the reservation online, which was super easy, but you don't actually pay ahead. Just make sure you get there before the cut-off time or they'll give your seats away (they don't mess around with that). The weekday cover is $15, but there's a two-item minimum per person, so it can add up. We'd already had dinner, so we just got fries and water, but they do have a full food menu if you're hungry. I've been to a few shows here and honestly, it never disappoints. This time we came specifically to see Emil Wakim and he was just as funny live as he is on TV. Every comic had their own style, and somehow the whole show flowed perfectly. The atmosphere and crowd interactions make each show so unique. Such a fun night, start to finish. We've already decided we're making this a yearly tradition!

Good cover charge my first time here and I enjoyed myself. I missed the first comedian but the rest were very funny. I would definitely reccomend this place for great laughs. 3 different venues with shows half hour apart

    Front entrance.

Ask the Community - Comedy Cellar

Do you have to show proof of vaccination?

Proof of vaccination, turn off and lock up your phone, stand online for nearly an hour. It's worth exploring other comedy club options. New York has many 😊

How is an hour with Keith Robinson?

Haven't seen him recently, including whatever he's working on now, but he's an older comic that was never really elite -- I'd personally go for a showcase, where you're not putting all your eggs in one basket, and have a chance at getting a drop in…

Reviews say guests have to put their phones into a sealed pouch. Does the staff then take the pouch and store them all somewhere, or do you keep your pouch/phone with you at your table?

You keep it with you at your table

    Is the a minimum age?

Just go to the website. All the information you need is there. COMEDYCELLER.com

I saw that the location takes credit card, but do they accept AMEX specifically? Thanks!

    yes. amex accepted

Is it one location with different rooms?? Pussycat Lounge, MacDougal Street, Village Underground?

It's one company / owner with three locations on the same block (2 around the corner from the original space).…

    Are bags allowed?

Yes, of course, it's NYC, people live out of their backpacks & pocketbooks (metaphorically... sometimes actually).…

What is on the menu food wise?

The menu items are what you'd find in a typical tavern or pub (burgers, salmon, steak, etc), with a slightly Mid-Eastern twist. They also have vegetarian options as well.…

What are the best nights of the week to go if we're hoping to see some bigger names?

Almost all nights have big, nationally famous comics on the lineup. I stopped by tonight and Jeff Ross was sitting outside & going on during the last show (Dave Attell was also on the lineup).…

    Is there air conditioning?

Yep, there sure is. Also, heat in the winter!

How long typically are the shows?

One and a half to two hours

What counts as proof of vaccination? Physical card, photo of card, excelsior pass, etc?

You'll need either the physical card or an official app version plus a matching Govt. Issued ID.…

    Is there wheelchair access?

    Hahahahahahahahahahaha no

Do they take card? Also, with the cover do I pay when I arrive? Is card allowed? Thank you!

Credit cards accepted, cover is added to your check and paid with your food/drinks at the end of the show

    Are bags allowed?

    Yes!

If I'm there on my own is there a bar where I can sit instead of a table?

No, everyone sits at a table

Is there an option to stand during the show? I'm with a guest who can't sit but wants to attend the show.

Send the comedy club and email. At the show, only servers and staff did not stay seated.

    Comedy Central taping?

Tickets for tapings aren't usually sold to the public. Check out audience coordinators for that.

The comedy brunch on Sundays what time does the food service start and what time does the shows finish?

Food starts 30 minutes before showtime. Show is about 90 minutes.

Which night is better to go, Sunday or Monday?

    There's really no difference

The show is $45pp or $75pp for VIP, which includes a headband and random sake shots. I came here for a friend's birthday celebration, which was a grand ol' time! Our group got the Sushi Boat ($111) that comes with 4 nigiris, 12 sashimi, and 4 rolls. We also ordered the Tokyo Hot Fries ($10), which were seasoned so well --these were addicting! The same seasoning was also used for the 10pcs Fried Chicken ($22), so also loved that. The Pork Gyozas ($9) were pretty standard though. Alongside we had sake, beer and cocktails. All was a fun time with lots of drinking and laughter.

He did a great job of warming things up to start and really connected well with the audience. Certainly be prepared to be called out for some good laughs as he pretty much had a great joke on everyone there. The comedians were from all over the country and from very different backgrounds of life. This place is great for any occasion at any time of the week with coworkers, couples, or big groups of friends. There was even one guy there who went alone (and was obviously was picked on by the host for that very reason). I will say the 2 drink minimum that everyone complains about isn't that bad. Typical price for NYC but certainly nothing special. Flavored margaritas (mango and blood orange) were a bit sugary. I would recommend sticking to something basic here. The only buzzkill was the random $10 service charge, which we didn't see noted anywhere like the 2 drink minimum notices everywhere but maybe we didn't looking hard enough. Nonetheless, we had a great time and will be back for more laughs!

Throwback, sexy, vintage burlesque type of vibes with a small bar and seating area. It was not busy at all and there was a guy DJ'ing. You would think that a place like this would be able to make most craft cocktails. They did have a small cocktail menu and some written specials but I asked the bartender if he could make me a "Last Word." He looked at me for a moment and seemed confused or unsure and it was a no. Kinda threw me off, and then he handed me the menu. This gave me the implication that he's really only familiar with the ones on the menu. So then we decided to start easy with the beer and tequila shot combo. I asked for them chilled and instead of shaking them he stirred it which ended up taking longer but hey to each their own I guess. We also got a shot of amaro and he didn't seem to know which ones they carried so we had to point out to him which ones we wanted since they were on the wall behind him. Once we got our drinks, he proceeded to eat empanadas right in front of us. I get it, you gotta eat but I don't ever think it's good optics for anyone in service to be eating directly in front of their guests, especially at a very small bar. If anything, you step away and take a few bites and come back. At one point I went to use the bathroom and on my way back to the bar I asked the DJ if he took any requests. He firmly said "NO" and not in like a nice way, I mean we were the only people in the bar so we thought he could possibly play something upon request but it was a hard no. Overall it was a bit of an unusual experience, and for a nice cocktail bar we were disappointed with how things went. I hope that the bartenders learn how to make a last word at some point, it's a pretty popular classic cocktail. ‍
