I can't love this place enough. I can't rave about it enough. Sexy burlesque girls (and this time there were a lot of fine looking men!). Something for everyone! There were also acrobats and aerialists this time. Bastard Keith (that's literally his stage name) brought the laughs again as emcee. And yes, he pulled out his testicle again. I even got called up on stage and had some very interesting moments with Bastard Keith, which was captured by an artist stage side (you know I bought that sketch too). This time I went on a Saturday night and again bought reserved seating. I got another seat right up front. I don't think it was 85 dollars this time though, maybe more in the 60s range. Still 100 percent worth it. Again, it was laughter til tears rolled down my face. It was joy. It was love and acceptance. If you're not a prude and you need some respite from today's hard times, the slipper room is for you. Can't wait to go back again. Ignore the hater reviews. They have multiple acts every night and you can tell the performers work hard on them. They are impressive. If you don't like it, please get up there and YOU do it. read more

THE BEST PLACE FOR LOCAL BURLESQUE IN NYC. HANDS DOWN. Forgive the all caps but I have strong opinions on this topic. No food. Good drinks. Great vibes. Waitress service with reserved tickets, which is the only way to guarantee a seat; though I have never had any trouble getting in for the $20 midnight show on weekends and for that price plus the quality of the performances I don't mind standing!! Some people Venmo but it's more fun when you bring cash to tip!! Every host has a different vibe. Weeknight shows are more local, weekends before midnight are very fun and lively. Also the decor here is awesome. Very classic old school downtown theater vibes but elegant. Dress is elevated but casual and keep your clothes on, you don't want to distract from the absolutely fabulous line up of talent they book on the regular!! read more

Took in a burlesque show where the Slipper Room advertisement promised multiple performers. Only three performers appeared and one basically repeated her schtick. A comedian or MC dominated the show and slowed it down. I have seen shows at the Slipper Room that had a lot of fast, cool downtown acts, so I am sorry to give it a lukewarm review. read more

The acts were great, but because of the MCs, the lack of service on the balcony, and the most uncomfortable seats, I'd not go back. What a huge loss of money, not selling drinks to 1/3 of the audience. If they invested in servers, they could sell enough drinks to hire a real host/MC. The show started with more people than chairs, but that changed after intermission when half the audience left. It was insulting to the actual performers. Cool theater, but those MCs drove the audience away. Every time they came back on stage, the audience so so sick of them, they ended up scrolling on their phones. If I were a performer there with a contract, I'd be livid, having to listen to that hack job each day. read more

Came here for the Rock & Roll Aerial Fantasy show as some of my aerial instructors were performing. Tix can be reserved online ahead of time. The check-in process was relatively straightforward, and staff was pretty friendly. The venue isn't very large but tables on the main floor were comfortably spaced out, plus there's a second-floor balcony. this place is SO pretty. and the guys who work door and coat check were so kind ! but dear god the host Mel needs the boot. His "jokes" were getting sympathy laughs at best since without a laugh you could hear a pin drop in the place when he spoke. the problem is that he has dry male humor that is probably only funny to him, and he can continue to do it night after night because he owns the place. The acts were honestly pretty good, but the fact I had to see his face after every one of them ruined it for me. i would come back in a night he isn't hosting, but i think he should let go of his pride and find a better MC to let the slipper room really shine for what it could be!! read more

The show came highly recommended however we would not go back. The acts were great however the show was dominated by the hosts with mediocre to poor jokes and small skits. The drinks were extremely watered down - we went in with a solid buzz had a couple drinks and left during the second act sober as it gets. It wasn't for the intentionally bad magician either. It wasn't even for the overpriced vodka tonic I purchased. It's for the layout from the second floor. We sat at a corner high-top right by the railing, but I had to lean very far over just to clearly see the stage. At one point, the host did a bit with a party at the far right, under us. I couldn't see anything. Sigh. In short, come early and snag stage-floor seats. Or be prepared to spend the performance leaning uncomfortable far out of your chair and over the railing just to see properly (and still miss part of the show). read more

It's $30pp w no drink minimum for an all night variety show with burlesque, dancing, comedy, and even a guy who paints scenes from the acts in the corner and sells them as souvenirs! I've been twice and both times the quality was high. Saw some repeat content on my 2nd visit but enough fresh stuff to keep me interested. The MC (could argue the star of the show) Richard Castle holds the entire thing together with a potent mixture of bad jokes, improvised crowd work, and public brutalization of hecklers. Ample bathrooms (a rarity in LES NYC). Only caveat here is seating. They leave a LOT of standing room. If you want to sit, you need to come when the doors open read more

We came here for my girlfriend's birthday and it was such a fun and unique experience! The host of the show's comedic relief will have you giggling in between the sensual and jaw-dropping acts. The floor and bar area is a bit crowded, but so is every bar in New York City. This was our second visit to slipper room, and we were genuinely looking forward to a fun evening out. However, I must express our deep concerns about a particular moment during the show. The interaction between the host and an audience member, where chants of "free Palestine" erupted, made us feel extremely uncomfortable and, frankly, scared for our safety: The host was working with the audience and asked one lady dead center where she's from Lady in front row: guess Host: India Lady in front row: no but same continent Host: pakistan Lady: no im very controversial Host: For Petes sake tell us where you're from Lady: Palestine. [Starts chanting, "free Palestine"] Entire audience: free, Palestine, free, free Palestine Host. Are there any Jews in the audience? My husband and I are the only ones in the balcony that cheered host asks us for our name and it took everything inside me to keep it together under the lime light like that. Great, old-era space with fun videos showing ahead of the actual show. The circus acts were amazing. But we were displeased with the sexism of the show - why would just about only women be stripping and doing the go go dancing in the break so patrons could stuff dollar bills in all kinds of places? Get with this century, Slipper Room! Also, some of the strip acts were carried out by the same women, and therewith, repetitive. read more

I had a great time at this little place. I came for a burlesque show and was not disappointed. I bought a VIP seat near the stage, but I think sitting anywhere in the place would be wonderful. It is a very intimate space, everyone is packed in together. There was an artist drawing the performers live, which was insanely cool. He was so talented. The hostess of the show, Broadway Brassy, was SO GOOD. I thought it was neat that they featured both male and female performers. Every artist was great and very talented. Rape and Kidnapping at the Slipper Room. I went to NYC the weekend of August 17th to celebrate my birthday and and the premiere of my girlfriends new movie. After the Movies Premie we went to the Slipper Room to celebrate her amazing success. Its so hard for me to tell this story but I need the world to know what happened here. I need this to never happen again. I need Americans to not think this is impossible. My girlfriend was kidnapped and raped at the Slipper Room on 8/17/2024. Words can't describe how that night at The Slipper Room has changed our lives. Its not an excuse but I honestly just didn't think that human beings were such predators that I needed to walk my girlfriend to the bathroom and stand guard. I would have never thought a girl going to the bathroom could result in a horrific brutal rape. My friend was led out of the venue by a female at the womens restroom and then taken to a car and then to an abandoned parking lot 9 mintues from the venue on the FDR Freeway where she was horrically raped and thrown out of the car onto the pavement. She was left for dead. As she fought for her life luckily somone called for an ambulance at 1:14 AM and at 1:24 AM the ambulance arrived. The paramedics said they found her tights riped to off her and her genitals exposed when they arrived and she was loudly screaming for help on her back and punching the air. It took the ambulance 56 minutes to stabalize her before they could leave the parking lot to take her to the hospital. read more

Review #323 Absolute MUST!!! You can't get this kind of entertainment for the price in this city!! Are you kidding me?? What a surprise! I went to Duane Park once and this has NOTHING on Duane Park. Why pay close to $100 a pop there when you can come here for better entertainment for pennies on the dollar!!!! One of the most fun nights I've ever had during my many trips to NYC. At the current time prices were $15 online for the Friday night show. $20 at the door. Show starts (they say) at 9:30. If you get there right around 8pm you will be guaranteed a seat. There are about 20 seats by the stage. There are a few upstairs and some in the very back of the room. If you don't get these you will have to stand for the duration of the show, which is a long time. We got there about 8pm and we sat in the second row. Best seats in the house because you get the best view and the performers really play up the crowd in front. We ordered a bottle of wine which was about $45 (not bad). THERE IS NO MINIMUM DRINK REQUIREMENTS!!! That's another amazing thing about this place! We chatted it up with the folks around us and an hour and a half flew by. The show really didn't get started until about 9:50, which was a tad annoying. But once it started it was FANTASTIC! The host, James Habacker was out of this word funny, i meant FUNNY!!! Heat have been my favorite. There were about 4 or 5 other acts. James Habacker, Lucy Licious, Mr. Gorgeous, Nina LaVoix, Tansy, Dirty Martini. Every act was just fabulous!! You want FULL nudity, you've got it! Aerialists, comedy, burlesque and a few other acts. The show went on for about 2 1/2 hours. We were exhausted by that time but there is a second show at midnight you can stay and watch at no extra cost. Other things to be noted. I was "told" that some of her first episodes of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was filmed here. I was trying to do some research but couldn't find much. So who knows. Restrooms are located on the second flood. Bring some $1, $5, $10 or $20 bills or more to tip during intermission (if you'd like). I highly recommend a night here!! WELL worth it!!! read more

I have no idea how you can put on a show with NO warnings about having to witness that. Its unacceptable in my opinion. In addition to that; the host was awful. A complete drag and I couldn't stand his whole young old person get up, gag. It was like you were watching some kids try and make their parents laugh. All of that said, there were some great performances in the mix, it's a shame they get overshadowed with all that was wrong with the show. (I should also add this show starts at 10 and I believe is runs on 3 hours long.....) I still have to give you 1/5 because I'll never be back. read more

New York City has become sterile and boring in a lot of ways over the past generation, The Slipper Room feels like a hold-out. It's got grit and culture, and feels like a hold out resisting the sedation and brunch crowd that has taken over. The price of admission is well worth it, there's a lot of bang for one's buck, especially if one gets pulled onto the stage for some shenanigans, they might find themselves with a free drink. It is indeed a variety show, there is burlesque, magic, acrobatics, fire dancing, hula-hoop dancing, music, comedy, it's really a jack-of-all-trades venue. There are usually several shows on any given night. The final show of the night is only $10 to get in, if you have never been before and are reluctant to part with your money to give this place a shot, that is a bargain admission fee. read more

Absolutely LOVED this place. Came in for the early show & the MC Keith set the mood for the night. He is awesome, so funny & interactive with the whole audience. Each show is different & unique in its own way. Drinks are at a great price & the wait staff/bartenders are on their game keeping everyone well hydrated. My friend the birthday girl, wanted to visit a burlesque show, so we obliged her request. It's a big deal to grab seats as soon as you come in, since you can't reserve them in advance. We were lucky to snag a few tables close to the stage, even though our party had to be separated. This made all the difference, whilst many patrons were standing room only. And the venue was packed to the gills. The acts were funny and the ladies were lovely! Never was the show pushing the envelope. Perhaps we're all a little desensitized by sex and skin these days, but I thought the acts were just enough. A lot of slapstick humor in each character's storyline. The ladies came around during intermission to take pictures, and were very sweet. The bar was off to the side of the main floor and busy throughout the evening, although drinks were never long for the waiting. As luck would have it, the night after I visited Nurse Bettie on a "non burlesque" night, a different friend invited me to the Twirly Whirly Burly-Q show at the Slipper Room. So I hustled down to orchard st, stood around looking confused and then realized the entrance is around the corner on Stanton. Take note! Inside its a cute little theater with a raised area in the back, a bar on the right and a balcony on level up. We sat in the balcony and enjoyed the funny classy ladies do their thing. The show with intermission was about 1.5 hrs which seemed just right. my friend ordered a Brandy old-fashioned and sadly we learned we "weren't in Wisconsin anymore, Toto" as they only had whiskey, no Brandy behind the bar. Huge disappointment- yelp and trip advisor you did us wrong. We paid $50 for a show we could not see. Got to the venue 1.5 hours before the show, no seats and even getting there that early didn't get us anywhere but sore feet from standing around because once the show started you couldn't see. They kept packing people in like sardines. It would be one thing if there were monitors so that you could at least see what was going on onstage but nothing. We left after we got tired of waiting for them to start the show (20 mins late) and after the first act. As we were leaving the bouncers were still taking peoples money and packing them in. I'm sure this has the potential to be a good a show if you could actually see it but there was no way in hell that was happening Saturday night. Save your $50 and find something else to do.
