I go to a ton of magic shows, and somehow Speakeasy Magick still completely blew me away. This didn't feel like the usual "magic show" experience at all. No cheesy jokes, no awkward crowd work, no fake game-show energy. Just really smart, insanely talented magicians doing impossible things right in front of you. What also stood out was that every single performer was great. Usually at shows like this there's at least one act you're waiting to end. Not here. Everyone was cool, confident, funny in a natural way, and honestly just seemed like people you'd want to hang out with afterward. The whole vibe of the night is awesome too. Everyone's dressed up, the room feels intimate, and it somehow manages to feel classy without being pretentious. It's one of the few nights out in NYC lately where I walked away genuinely impressed. The show itself is actually quite fun which is exactly why I booked it for a group of friends visiting from out of town. Unfortunately, the way this was handled turned what should have been a great night into a pretty bitter experience. There are far better ways to spend $200 than having your plans canceled on you at the last minute. Here's what happened: * My 10 p.m. tickets were canceled with only about a week's notice for my group. * I was told that 7 p.m. tickets were available instead. * I immediately replied confirming I would take those tickets. * Two days later, I was told those 7 p.m. tickets were no longer available. * Somehow, it seems acceptable to cancel my booking but not others'. If you're going to cancel on customers, at least handle the rebooking process competently and fairly. This felt disorganized at best and careless at worst. read more

Save yourself and your date $600+, book a flight on miles to Chicago, go to just the bar area of Magic Lounge, don't even need to buy tickets, and enjoy the same thing but better for 1/5th the cost. So mad I shelled out all that money at Speakeasy Magic for what it was. The show was 3.75-4ish stars but the value of it is what warranted the 2 stars. read more

Things don't always appear as they seem. Or do they? This Speakeasy MagicK show in the Flatiron area of NYC delivered on so many levels. Ever since I was a kid, I was always intrigued with magic and the art of illusion. My mom bought a magic set for me and I tried my best to recreate magic. At this show, your eyes won't believe the result of card and other tricks. My friend and I went last night and we're still thinking how did they do that. I really don't want to give too much away, but after waiting at the bar for a while, groups were called to be seated next door at one of perhaps 15 or so tables. Each table included 10 guests and the magicians rotated to each table throughout the evening which lasted about 2 hours. We didn't meet all the magicians (a hint to return) but a fun time was had by all. We gasped and raised eyebrows at "tricks" that simply couldn't be explained. The vibe was chill, sexy, speakeasy sultry and fun. Tiny bags of popcorn were arranged on each tables and servers came around to take drink orders. Note, there was no food on the menu so make sure to eat in advance. Speakeasy Magick was a well executed event I'd highly recommend. If you like the art of magic, guessing and being amazed, then Speakeasy Magick will satisfy your craving for an excellent time. read more

Speakeasy theme although I thought the drinks were only OK. Fine to me as it's more about the experience/ ambiance. I've been twice and I think it's worth the price ($179 PP). The experience changes a bit each time, but not significantly, so it's better for first timers. read more

Was in town visiting a friend and we were looking for a fun, unique NYC experience. Speakeasy Magick really hit the mark. We had tickets for the earlier show and were promptly greeted at the bar for check in. Solid drinks and a really fun way to kick off the evening. Once the show began and we were seated in the performance space we had a truly "Magick" evening. Met some great people from around the world at our table and had a great show. The best part about it this whole experience was not knowing what we were really coming in for- and I was more than happy with the results. I won't give anything away about the show except it lived up to the name and I'm planning a return visit next time I'm in New York. If you're looking for a not so typical night on the town this is a fantastic way to kick it off. read more

Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Is magic real? YES! We were looking for a show to attend, and the Broadway options were not hitting the mark. We are so thankful we went with Speakeasy Magick as it was AMAAAAZING! Days later, we're still talking about it and wondering how they pulled off all those tricks! Pro tip: Although there are multiple time slots to purchase tickets, there are truly only 2 showings, one for dinner (8pm) and one late-night (11pm). For example, when we booked, the website showed 10:15pm, 10:30pm, and 10:45pm. Everyone starts at the Overlook Bar, then you receive a ticket and directions through the "dry cleaners" next door to the actual venue space. The extra time is to relax and order drinks, the actual show began at 11. You're seated at long tables (think poker tables) and can order drinks throughout the night. There is a host/MC for the night who does some jokes and tricks for the entire crowd on stage. Then individual magicians come to your table for their act -- you interact with them up close and personal, and truly get to be part of the experience. It makes the magic even more mesmerizing and jaw dropping as you're watching them so closely and have no idea how they pull things off. Something in your hand will somehow transform right before your eyes?!? They were all incredible! We were smiling and amazed all night long! Other than the host, there were 7 magicians that night, and 5 came to our table. I think this is part of the appeal to return, as you don't know what will be performed on a particular night, and I would be thrilled to do so! It is worth every penny and you will leave believing in MAGIC! read more

I've been to only a handful of magic shows in the past, but it was always amateur and from afar. This one was amazing, and I was mind blown and entertained all night long! I loved the combination of speakeasy + magic. We were surprised by the entrance into the room where the performance took place (but won't spoil it for y'all). And then it was almost 1.5 hours of magic. The magicians made their rounds and performed, engaged and involved the audience of 10 at each individual table. Drinks and popcorn were available to the audience, no food however, but a decent liquor menu. I think we saw about 5 magicians, and they also had a couple of magicians perform on stage. Overall, the show was worth the $150 we paid per ticket and we walked away feeling lighthearted and satisfied with the evening (however a bit hungry). read more

I don't want to give away too many details to spoil the surprises but it's pretty spot on with how the name sounds. Think all the swanky vibes and an opportunity to dress up if you want, but not so bougie it's annoying. Lots of clever, interactive and close up entertainment. The magicians rotate so it would even be fun for a second or third visit! Pro tip: note that even though tickets are booked on the mckittrick hotel site, the location is different. I went to this show last night with some friends, and it was so much fun! This show is inside the McKittrick Hotel (where Gallow Green and Sleep No More are). We arrived a bit earlier than the door opening time, and we were able to order a few rounds of drinks before the magic officially started. The majority of this wasn't a "stage show" where we spend the entire time watching magic being done onstage. They had magicians rotate around to each table and do their own set of tricks. I loved the intimacy of the event and how everyone around the table was included. Each magician also brought their own personality into their time with us, and in addition to the magic, I had a lot of fun interacting with them. The service was great when we ordered drinks. Also, I have to commend the McKittrick/event coordinators for being so kind, compassionate, and accommodating. My friend had knee surgery and they were more than happy to accommodate her physical needs. We had also booked for a previous show and someone wound up having COVID, so we rescheduled. They thought we were running late and they were offering to hold the show for us because they understood that we have an injury in the party. Definitely want to come back for another show -- there's apparently a whole roster of magicians, and we only saw some of them last night. Highly recommend! read more

REALLY CAN'T MISS. A wonderful sampler platter of amazing close-up magic - so many great card mechanics, so many "whaaaaaa?" moments. The best stuff happens at the table. The stage stuff is kinda stage-y, but when you get down to "where did that card/ball/olive/rabbit go?" there are some amazing, fun moments. We brought a group of 4 friends who loved it. (My wife & I had seen it before at the McKittrick. The only thing better at the McK is that the first magician starts as a "plant" at your table unannounced...we loved that surprise like "oh, there's someone among us!" instead of a "Reserved" sign that gave away who was the artist). Horrible experience. Upon arrival, we were shown to our table, tucked upstairs in the back, unable to see the stage. Before the show started, we asked the manager if we could be moved downstairs to a table where we could see the show. Rather than expressing understanding of our situation, she rudely smirked and declined our request. We were not able to see ANYTHING on the stage throughout the evening. After the show concluded, we expressed our disappointment to the manager about the evening. She told us, "If you didn't like the show, why did you stay the whole time?" It was such a rude and awful way to treat a customer who spent hundreds of dollars. If they try to seat you at the upstairs table, do yourself a favor and request a table downstairs. There is only 1 table up there - it shouldn't even be used. Hopefully they treat you better. We were incredibly disappointed. I should mention the magicians and servers who came to our table were excellent - this is not a reflection on them. read more

I grew up in Manhattan and actually live across the street. I never knew this show was here. Our friends got us tickets and honestly it is the best thing I have ever done in NYC, hands down. We had an amazing time. The magicians were incredible and the show is very intimate and funny. The speakeasy theme was also great and there is a fun creative twist when you go in.
