It is based on the biography Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States who was an instrumental supporter of the U.S. Constitution who fought alongside President George Washington in the Revolutionary War. His work laid the foundation of America whose face is worthy to be depicted on the U.S. $10.00 bill. 4. It depicts history of Hamilton's journey beginning as a Caribbean immigrant rising to America's first Secretary of the Treasury. It is deeply rooted in New York City history. It depicts American history of the opposition fight for independence and creation Independence of United States of America. He is buried in Trinity Church, Financial District, Lower Manhattan, NYC. It also narrates Aaron Burr's rivalry and jealously Hamilton's strong ambition, brilliance, and determination to rise. "Hamilton wrote the other 51!" Ticket prices are highly extortionate! Tickets starts $127.00 to $155.00 for upper balcony or standard face-value seats. My rear orchestra center ticket was an astonishing extortionate $228.00! Hamilton, the Broadway musical makes use of the Richard Rodgers Theatre's double-nested rotating stage (turntables) prominently to create a dynamic, continuous movement and cinematic flow. I wish I saw the 2015 original cast Alexander Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and Aaron Burr (Leslie Odom Jr.). Wait for it. Forward, eleven (11) years later I am now seeing it in 2026. I now have another Playbill and Broadway show ticket to add to my growing Playbill collection. Casting is non-white actors as the Founding Fathers of the United States and other historical figures for inclusion and equality. As per Lin-Manuel Miranda, songwriter, actor, and producer who described Hamilton: "America then, as told by America now." There is no traditional stage curtain for this Broadway show, but it did start and end on time - on point. There are 34 musical numbers total (17 musical numbers in each Act). The narrative is almost entirely sung and rapped through, thus, the numbers flow directly into each other without the traditional pause to segue in-between numbers. There is very little dialogue for spoken word as I would like a mix. There are occasional expletive explicit laden lyrical lines/ verses depicting strong explicit language "goddamnit." This includes uncensored F-word during the indiscretion of Hamilton's affair. "Cabinet Battle #1" & "Cabinet Battle #2" feature insults and harsher colloquial terms as "pain in the ass" and "shit." There are other numbers where expletive explicit laden lyrical embedded are "bastard" and "whore." Surely, my teddy bears speak more eloquently than thee! The costumes replicate 18th century Revolutionary era including U.S. founding fathers in white linen or lace cravats. My predilection for Hamilton musical numbers are: Satisfied Wait For It That Would Be Enough Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down) Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story Live with intention. My passions and interests entice me to pursue more to look around. "When everyone who loves me has died" this I can absolutely relate. "Death does not discriminate. We got tickets for Hamilton a few months ago and we enjoyed the show. It was a bit fast paced for me, many of the songs were very fast and I did not follow them as I wish I could had. Fire!! Amazing!! Powerful!! Dynamic!!! Loooooved every second! I saw Hamilton a couple of times on Disney+ and went in underestimating the live-olity of it all. Massive difference! Oh, and thank you, God, Buddha, Yoda, the Universe and the Ancestors! We got to see it during Leslie Odom Jr.'s return. Saw him in Purlie Victorious, too. That man is spectacular!! Of course, I couldn't help but compare this cast to the O.G.'s. I wasn't lucky enough to see the O.G.'s live but, yeah, Disney+. In my humble opinion, they all...allllll of them...kicked arse! The voices! The acting! The dancing! Shout out to the costume person cos the way those costumes swung as they danced...! This cast held all the candles to the original cast! Okay, if I'ma keep it a thousand, I did miss Anthony Ramos and Daveed Diggs. Their replacements were wonderful, tho! I mean, 9.99999999999999 outta 10. They all looked like they were having so much fun! Like, they were legit having a good time. I must've looked like the Joker sittin' in that audience cos I couldn't stop smiling! Save for the scenes that made me cry! Now... Miss Jisel Soleil Ayon as Angelica Schuyler! Every time that girl opened her mouth...! Her voice is so...! OMG! Born to sing comes to mind. I finally saw Hamilton and really enjoyed it! They were on 2 for 1 Broadway week and we got 4th row mezzanine. The view was great! The bathroom line for the women's room was nuts and we did miss the beginning of the 2nd act a bit but they do their best to move it. Appreciated the red wine, it was pretty good though pricey for what it was. The legroom was also tight but the show great! The music and history were top notch. read more

Perfect date night! We went during the broadway special (buy one get one free) which personally I didn't find to be a great deal. We ended up buying tickets on a third party app for better seats and price. Now for the show and theater, both were absolutely excellent! Rodgers theater is not large and I think no matter what seat you get, it's an excellent view. The show itself was incredible. I came in tired from my Thursday workday and felt energized by the end of it. Everyone performed exceptionally and drew you into the story line. So glad I got to experience it! read more

Finally saw Hamilton on Broadway in NYC. This has to be the best play I'd seen LIVE in about 24 years. This musical tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was one of the 7 Founding Fathers; in other words these fellas collectively crafted the framework/foundation of the American history/journey to freedom. Totally was fascinated and impressed by how the music and storytelling is a combination of hip hop, R&B and a touch of rap. I'd felt as though as I was listening to the radio station "Hot 97." I'd actually grew up listening to this type of music in my teenager years... Hamilton is about a 3 hour commitment and they do have intermission. Phew! Ticket prices are a bit extreme, but I was able to take advantage of the exclusive deals offered at @todaytix. I'd sat in the rear balcony and was able to have a real nice view of the stage. read more

Got to see the HAM! and it was insane. We were on the balcony and it was so close I felt like I could slip and fall on Thomas Jefferson.(his ego was so big). Also the show was so good. No one told me it was kinda sad in the second act. also (spoiler alert) in my opinion Hamilton was kind of a fool. His son was in a gun fight and he told his son to aim for the air. His son got killed! Then he repeated the same stradegy. Don't go to a gunfight with a knife and don't go to a gun fight with Hamilton as your coach!!!! ALSO I wish they would have introduced the actors at the end. Instead they asked for money for a red bucket for aids.(that cool but) I spent my life saving just to get in the show in the first place. And I didnt' see anyone putting money in the buckets. But I would have loved to have known more about these awesome actors. After becoming obsessed with Hamilton as soon as it premiered on Disney+ I've been wanting to see it live. As soon as tickets went on sale for the return of Broadway after the COVID shut downs, I snagged some (pretty pricy) tickets in the Orchestra section (Row Q). The show was just as incredible, even though the entire original cast has moved on. There were some characters I enjoyed more with the original cast, some that I really appreciated the new twist that the new actors put on the character and some that I flat out liked better than the original. Regardless it was an amazing show with an incredibly talented cast. The theater was...well, it was small. Small in terms that the rows are crammed together. The narrow staircases make it rough to get anywhere during intermission. But at the same time it means you have a good view from almost anywhere. I'm so happy I finally got to witness the show in person and if I'm able to catch any of the tours, I'll jump on the opportunity to watch it again. read more

The play itself, and especially the incredible actors are absolutely 5 stars. Period. I laughed and cried during this show, and ended with standing applause. I'd be remiss to point out, however, that the intermission didn't pass without difficulty. There is dire need of organizing the bathroom situation. There was no real ushers or helpers putting effort into herding the crowd. There was a couple staff members simply standing in the crowd holding up a sign that said "keep your mask on". The ladies bathroom line was absolutely chaotic. A snaking line for what seemed like a mile long. Many people were pushing and getting pushed, and everyone was physically smushed together much like Vienna Sausages. I never did get to the ladies room before the break was over. Frustrating. Conclusion: Hamilton is absolutely amazing. But go at your own risk, especially if you're not psyched at the idea of zero social distancing, or having to go to battle for a bathroom. read more

But first impressions matter. My wife needed to use restroom asap and so I asked the staff member I took a photo or who was supposed to be by the door scanning and welcoming people at 640pm. Instead chatting with a co-worker by staircase to Men's restroom. I asked her where the ladies room was and she rudely replied in a baby voice "I don't know. I don't know" and began laughing at us. I was so turned off that I walked away. We were shocked by her immature response. If a manager is reading this please teach your staff to be more professional. Last night's performance was meh. There were quite a few standby and swing performers in key roles. We paid a lot of money because LOJr was in the show, but I won't do that again. He was good, but he had no supporting cast. There was zero chemistry onstage between Eliza and Hamilton ... not a good match. Let's just start by saying if I could give 10 stars I would do so. The show is unbelievable! From start to finish the show did not disappoint. The music was on point, the dancing beyond reproach; the cast is phenomenal! I am not as worldly as other theater goers are but in my brief experience of going to shows I can say this is The Best I've seen this far. I was lucky enough to see the show in Philadelphia but was dying to see it on Broadway and it did not disappoint. The theater was really nice and super comfortable; you were not on top of the theater goer next to you or in front of you. If you are only going to see one show then this has to be it. Although I will say this, you kind of feel bad for Aaron Burr because history does not treat him kindly, but as a history teacher I would ask you to do some research and you just may find that Aaron Burr is not the bad guy everyone wants to make him out to be. I finally saw Hamilton after waiting years for a price drop. Went on a weeknight for a better deal. The show was packed with not a single open seat. The theater felt cramped and there wasn't really any wiggle room between seats. I found the cast to be talented, but overall show seemed to drag on. What made the experience unpleasant was the people sitting around me talking during the performance, the loud crunch of chips/popcorn during the show. I've never gone to a Broadway show where people can munch on crunchy snacks throughout the show. Typically I've seen people grab a drink during a break, but nothing beyond that to cause disturbance to the show. Surprisingly saw some kids under 10 years old there too with parents constantly explaining the story to them during the show. Staff could have been more friendly and monitor disturbances during the show. When the show ends, you are rushed out. There is no time to shop for merch or linger. Note that the bathroom is on a lower level and you can imagine how crowded it gets at the short break. Try to go before the show or quickly after. Perhaps the experience is different on a weekend. Overall, I've had better experiences at other shows. read more

A great musical ruined by the Richard Rodgers Theater Torture Chamber greedy tight seating. Prepare to be in pain wondering why you paid $838 for two tickets to be in complete discomfort for 3 1/2 hours. Venue is nowhere close to big enough for this many people and you're barked at during intermission to snake down to the basement for the restroom. My wife and I were in pain in the seats the entire show and we are normal size people - I am taller but not to degree it should impact $400 theater tickets seating. read more

I finally got an opportunity to see it at an affordable ticket price and seeing it on Disney Plus just isn't the same as watching the live performance. Despite some people claiming this is cultural appropriation (if you're complaining about white people or others playing someone of a different race but not mentioning this show, then they do have a point), I personally think the concept is inspired since it does make Hamilton's life and that time period more accessible to the masses. Art and history SHOULD be accessible to the masses and making it so is how people learn from it so I say bravo. Further, if Alexander Hamilton lived in modern times he'd be far more like this Alexander Hamilton instead of some stuffy old white guy. The performances of this show were on point and I have no criticism or complaints with it. I hope schools are showing it as part of history classes to teach students about Hamilton, Washington, Burr and all the rest since from my knowledge it's historically accurate. read more

Aaron Burr was a total douche! Being the original hater is how I would best describe him. The play starts off with Hamilton looking to befriend Aaron Burr. Burr kinda brushed him off and the Hamilton became GWs (George Washington) right hand man. All the while the King of England is talking smack. Spoiler alert, we kick their English tea sippin' asses back to the other side of the pond. Hamilton fought in the war and after we won (Go Yankees!) he went back to New York. That's right, after the war he went back to New York. (One of the songs) He meets a girl, falls in love and becomes involved in politics. There he meets some dastardly, political scoundrels while being in Washington's cabinet. There are lots of haters seeing Hamilton succeed and when Washingtons term is done? Now the sharks are circling. Aaron Burr, that SOB who watched the rise of Hamilton, who created our banking system was a New York Senator and ran against Jefferson for POTUS. Why didn't Hamilton run? Ah, they smeared him with an extra marital affair. Hamilton out, Burr in. But now as the Vice President, Burr is still a hater! He challenges Hamilton to a dual and shoots him dead. The end. My heart is racing typing this review! The action of the story, the rapping! The King! Aaron Burr. Jefferson! I was dancing along the whole time. Unfortunately During the show there was a medical emergency, but I was stunned and amazed how the cast never got out of character for the couple of minutes that the lights had to come on. OMG, this was brilliant! The play is so intelligent, dynamic, and informative. I became such a fan that I downloaded all the tracks from this show. The cast is perfect; they play their designated roles so well that you feel the tension and experience emotions, from laughing to crying. I would highly recommend this show to people with good English. Otherwise, you miss a lot or try to listen to the songs in advance.
