Love this place! Had the salmon sandwich which was a nice portion of salmon. The sweet scones were my favourite, especially the orange cranberry but the vanilla was also good. Savoury scones that I tried included the cheddar and herbs (prefer the latter. Scones are $3.40 each, sandwiches $7.90, tea $2.55. Prices are super reasonable for the quality. The service was prompt and friendly. There are a few seats and tables for a casual get together. Would definitely come back!

I am a big fan of the SconeWitch. I love scones, so right away I was intrigued by the concept. The scones here are very flakey and on the smaller side, which makes for great sandwiches. I had the goat cheese and tomato sconewitch, which I really liked, and some of the potato kale soup they had that day, which was good and a nice way to warm up. I also took home a raspberry chocolate scone and a lemon poppy seed scone. Both were good the next day, especially after a few seconds in the microwave!

The service was very friendly. You order at the counter and then can seat yourself. They will bring your food to you, and you place your items away when you're done. I got the breakfast eggwitch with ham and cheese on a herb and onion scone. The eggs were well prepared and the scone was crumbly. It was perfect for a quick small breakfast.

I'd never had a scone as sandwich before (hence the name sconewitch)! When searching for a brunch spot to go to with my friend, this spot seemed to have some more affordable options. I went for the poached salmon and cucumber sconewitch (the herb and onion scone being my scone of choice) along with a side salad ($2 extra). For around $10, this was actually very filling! While the scone wasn't too heavy and had some airiness to it, the salmon was well seasoned and complemented my side salad - while nothing special, had a delicious hollandaise dressing drizzled on top. As a scone enjoyer, I was pretty pleased with my experience. I'd definitely want to come back and try their dessert scones/drinks! They also seem to sell local jams as well :)

A casual little spot in downtown. Small menu, but we wanted something a little lighter, and a little different.. the Scone Witch fit the bill. Very friendly staff, DELICIOUS scones! Buttery, flaky delicious herb and onion with the eggwich. The vanilla cream has such a fantastic aroma, a nice subtle sweetness and just enough vanilla to not overpower the jam. Good coffee, and great iced mocha with deep coffee flavour.

Stopped by the SconeWitch to have brunch. We've both never had scone sandwiches before so we wanted to try this place out. We came a bit too late for breakfast but we could still have their regular menu. Inside there was a bit of a line and just enough seats inside for everyone who wanted to dine in. Some of the scones and sandwiches were already sold out by the time we got there. We each ordered one scone sandwich and one scone. For the scone sandwiches, you can also choose which scone you would like. I also ordered an iced latte. The scones and sandwiches were all good. Only wished we came earlier before they sold out of certain items!

I was in Ottawa for a weekend trip and knew I had to check out The SconeWitch. Scones are the perfect flakey breakfast item for me, especially in the winter time. My sister and I came here on a Sunday morning 30 mins after opening, and they only had a few customers inside and a ton of scones available. The entrance was actually confusing to find as this place is part of an office building, and there was construction being done on the outside. You really have to utilize Google maps. In terms of scone flavours, they had savoury: feta, cheddar, herbs and garlic, and sweet: vanilla cream, orange cranberry, lemon poppyseed, oatmeal and gingerbread (flavour of the month). We ended up getting a dozen as it was so hard to choose which flavours we wanted. They also had the sconewitches, but we didn't end up getting those. They're such an interesting concept tho and I haven't seen it anywhere else really. They packed our scones in two boxes as requested and even gave us the cutest totebag to store it in. Overall, the scones were super flakey, they're a good size and oh so buttery and delicious. I love the variety of flavours they have and it's a must check out when you're in Ottawa.

The best scones ever!! We visited this place from Vancouver and it's a snowy day (-8C). It's so worth it to walk from our hotel to this place. We tried ham & Gruyère sandwich on Cheddar cheese scone & salads, melted bacon on herb & onion scone. For the sweet scones, we tried vanilla cream, cranberry & orange and lemon poppyseed- all were so good!!!!

Went to scone witch after it being highly recommended on a trip through Ottawa. The cafe is a decent size, no indoor seating currently due to covid. Take out only. They have a selection of scones, scone-witches and coffee offerings. We picked a selection of 6 scones for ~$15. They were incredible!! Still warm. So flaky and flavourful. Favourites were the cheddar and vanilla. My boyfriend who loves lemon also enjoyed the lemon poppyseed. Of note - the "low gluten" Options of raspberry and jalapeño were sold out by around 1:30PM so go early if you want those.

An absolute delight, every time. The scone sandwiches are generously stacked (highly recommend the salmon) and you can choose the type/flavour of scone to build your sandwich on. Full of flavour, always satisfying. Worth noting that they have a small gluten-free selection, as well. When I ordered one, the lovely staff asked if I had ever had one of their gluten-free scones before, and wanted to be sure that I knew what to expect as the texture was going to be slightly different. Nothing to worry about here, though - the gluten-free scones are excellent!

Was looking for a good brunch place on Sunday morning and got to come here with my friend. Cozy looking counter with chalk-written menus (slightly messy I thought as it wasn't 100% clear how to properly order a brunch and was directed for jams and scone types). Served food tasted light and cozy. fruits not too warm not too hot. scones were fresh and not too hard not too soft just there. I'm not really a food critic or does brunch often, but I did have a comfortable, decently filling meal for what I paid for so it was good. Only thing is their seat spacing felt a bit awkward and you might end up lining up if you come too late. Place looks clean and modern. Good location located close to Rideau centre. read more

Went on two separate occasions. The first time was around lunch hour on a Saturday. Very long line up. I grabbed a herb scone since they were out of the cheese one. It was alright. The second time was on a Sunday morning at around 9AM. There was no line up at all and plenty of seats were available. I had a vanilla scone with devon cream this time. Both times I was disappointed that although I ate in-store, they did not warm up (or offer to) warm up my scone. I suppose if I go another time I will ask them to do this. While their scones certainly are substantial (one filled me up quite well for a while), I was not a fan of the texture. The herb scone was strangely layered in texture, while the vanilla one was fairly crunchy on the outside. This isn't what I was expecting from a scone at all. I do have to admit that my favourite scones are the English-style ones which these ones certainly weren't trying to be, but the unexpected textures from Sconewitch's scones left me a bit confused. read more

Their scones are amazing! Both my boyfriend and I ordered their brunch, which comes with your choice of scone and jam. I picked the currant ginger scone and rhubarb ginger jam. Unfortunately, to get the clotted cream, I had to pay an extra $1.75, which I think is a little pricey. Nothing special about the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon that was part of the brunch dish... But omg those scones. I regret not buying some for the drive back from Ottawa to Toronto. I will definitely be back again, but I'll probably save money and just buy myself lots of scones and clotted cream instead. read more

5 stars! Food is amazing, atmosphere is great and prices are reasonable. I went for breakfast on a Saturday (around 8:30) and we still managed to get seats right away. I ordered the Breakfast Combo, which comes with choice of scone, choice of jam, scrambled eggs, choice of toppings (smoked salmon or mushrooms), and a fruit+garnish salad, all just for $12! Hey also have individual SconeWitches, but if you're going for breakfast or brunch I think the Combo is definitely worth it. Would definitely go again and would recommend to friends. read more

I had the brunch plate which included eggs, your choice of topping (I got pork), fruits and greens, and a scone and jam (your choice of flavors). It was incredible. Really well proportioned and flavorful. Scones were soft inside with a hard outer crust, everything treated fresh. Highly recommend the apricot jam and Devon cream. I love this place. Going to make this a regular stop for my Ottawa trips! read more

Visited Ottawa this past weekend and discovered this little gem less than a block from our hotel. On our first visit, we kept it simple - coffee and various scones with jam - which were very good. This is when we noticed the breakfast plates that other customers were ordering. Back at the hotel that night, we checked out the breakfast menu online and this morning all three of us ordered different combinations of the breakfast plates, referred to on the menu as "brunch". The variation I had was comprised of a fresh baked vanilla-cream scone with wild blueberry and raspberry jam, brilliantly smooth scrambled eggs topped with melt-in-your-mouth mushroom ragout, all accompanied by fresh cut fruit. I paired this a delicious salted caramel latte. The only thing I would mention to everyone is that it can get quite busy and it isn't overly large. Think cafe, which it is, more than restaurant. This is not meant to discourage anyone from visiting, just something to keep in mind (and I can only comment based on my two weekend morning visits). On our first visit on Saturday, we readily found a table, however Sunday morning we had to wait for some room to clear up, however, it did by the time our orders were brought out. However, when we left there was quite the lineup to order. Aside from the food, all of the staff were very friendly and quite knowledgeable about their products. Very cute place that sells scones. The brunch scones come with jam and the one I ordered had ham and eggs too. There wasn't much of a wait on a weekend morning and there were even seats available. You order and pay up front. I really enjoyed eating here. read more

Had breakfast here this morning and was very happy with the food and service! I ordered the creamy scrambled eggs with ham and that came with fresh fruit and my choice of scone and jam. I went for the vanilla cream scone with rhubarb ginger jam and it was fantastic! I sat at the bar facing the window and got to people watch as I ate as well which was nice. Definitely want to come back for lunch since they've got savoury scones, soup and sandwiches as well. read more

Wow. Just wow. Hands down the best scones I've ever tasted in my entire life, and I've been to some fancy schmancy high tea places that serve scones before! We got the vanilla cream and the raspberry scones with Devon cream and the blackberry and strawberry jams.... absolutely divine. The scones had the perfect balance of flaky and crispy, and it went perfectly with our lattes. We got the scones as a part of the scrambled egg breakfasts with the ham. Delicious and a great start to my Sunday morning. Will return! read more

Highly recommended place to eat for breakfast, lunch or a snack. The scones are best here! Flaky, buttery with a nice crusty bottom. The ham and cheese sandwich was perfectly flavourful with dijon mustard, mayo, tomato and lettuce. The only issue we had was not being able to order the egg dishes because there was a 30 minute wait which we could do. read more

My folks love scones, preferably homemade, of course. I have a dozen family members with their birthdays in Feb, including my parents, so this year I did a big brunch at their place with everything from Sconewitch. It was such a massive hit! Definitely recommend, definitely returning. read more

The scones are all fresh and tasty. Unfortunately they were run out of Devon cream so I could not fully enjoy the scone. read more

Tasty scones, but the portions are a bit small for what you pay for. No free coffee refills. Bummer. Seating is "first some, first served" - so you really need to hawk a table down - I would do it before ordering because this place seems to always be packed ... but great scones. read more

I've never been a fan of Scones but this place knows what they are doing. Coffee prices are a little high but options of honey and brown sugar make up for it. Nice location and very friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Packed a sconewich with side salad from here. Ate it in the train station while waiting for my delayed train. It was heaven on earth. The ham was homemade style and very tasty without being too salty. The combination of the ham, Gruyere cheese, spring leaves with some sort of sauce in between a fresh herb/onion scone, it was simple, uncomplicated but brilliant. The filling and the scone complemented each other very well. The whole meal was clean, satisfying and left you feeling happy. Will definitely go back for more! read more

This is ONE witch who you can trust to cast nothing but positive spells on your meal! I requested an eggwitch but lo and behold they stopped serving those at 3pm, just minutes before our arrival. Stuck making a quick quick decision to not hold up the line, I sprang for a salmon sconewitch. It was a delightful treat and my coffee tasted about as fresh an apple pie on New Year's Day. And no need to panic, but just a headsup they close at 4pm (at last on Saturdays) so don't show up TOO late for your witchfest ;) Wicked vibes, of course. read more

The scones are quite good and are the brunches though the potions are small. My real problem is that the past two times I've been here my mealwitch was cold! The second time learning form my previous experience I specially asked for it to be hot. I'm not someone who needs there food to burn the my mouth but a hot meal should not be served at room temperature. read more

Sweet or savoury, you will definitely enjoy the scones up for offer here. The soup + sandwich special offer a nice alternative to your typical daily lunch. A little pricy, but a nice way to treat yourself to something different if that's what you're looking for! Will come again :) read more

We're super pleased with both - they are obviously really fresh, they were so flavourful and light and flaky! Would love to come back! Honestly not the best place to go. I was disappointed by that place after all the good critics I saw. The scone were good and fresh but not the best I had. The cafe is not that beautiful and the guys working there do not know what smiling means... It looked like ordering food from them was the worst job ever... read more

Came for brunch with family and was not disappointed. Delectable scones with delicious jams and those fluffy eggs with mushroom ragu! Oh how wonderfully satisfying. Brought 6 back home to Montreal to share with friends. If you love scones, this is the place to be. Large variety of flavours both savoury and sweet and for those who suffer from celiac disease, they haven't forgotten about you! It's a must visit when in Ottawa. Enjoy! FYI the address is on Elgin, but the entrance to the restaurant is on Gloucester, in front of the Vinci Park entrance. read more

BEST scones i've ever had. If you're like me and love flaky textures, the scones here are a mix of corrosaint and traditional dense scones. Absolutely a dream. I tried the ham and Gruyère- fantastic! Looking forward to it the next time I'm back in Ottawa! read more

Food is tasty but slightly expensive. Despite them being in operation for years, and having recently moved to a bigger location with more space, they STILL have not figured out how to quickly and efficiently take orders, accept payment and deliver the food to your table. They have macarons for $1.50 each. I haven't tried them but they looked good. The bakery is really clean and well lit. Staff were nice. It's in a strip mall (right next door to Capital Buns Bakery). If you come early they do this thing where they open the blinds when they are "ready" which makes them feel a bit weird vibes.

The Sfogliatella was $7.49 which is the most I've ever paid for this pastry. Fortunately, it was delicious. Very crispy and flakey on the outside and softer on the inside with a generous amount of cream. I prefer the ricotta cheese filling slightly more, but I like the cream filling too. It was light and airy and not too sweet. Service was efficient and pleasant. The shop has a one way flow, you enter one door and you follow the arrows and exit a different door. They have retained the Portuguese name and products from working with the previous co-owner. This is currently the only place you can get Syrian falafel in town. They gave me and my partner each a sample falafel to try - the falafels were flavourful, crispy on the outside and moist inside. I liked it much better than a lot of other falafels in town!!! $0.65 each if you were to buy. Looks like they are made to order, or the pre-made ones are within the hour and fresh. We tried the Syrian falafel wrap ($6) and Beef steak sandwich ($7) and both were delicious. Don't expect the food to come super fast like other shawarma-type places because they don't have an assembly line. For the beef steak sandwich, they sauteed mushrooms and onions along with the beef on their grill until caramelized, which took a while, but it tasted so homey and fresh. Beef was a little tough but the flavour was good. We got a bunch of natas (Portuguese egg tarts) and they were really good. $1.75 each. We also got a bunch of kibbehs (beef croquettes) - which I have just reheated and am eating right now on Day #2 - and they are flavourful and still juicy inside even after reheating. 5/5 would buy again. And of course we got extra Syrian falafels to go....because they're so good and we eat them like cookies (except healthier...I think). Lovely people, homey food at very reasonable prices. Cannot wait to come back again.

I was just recently introduced to this little shop. I believe it is new. I generally know most of the tea and scone places within the Ottawa area. I really enjoyed their recipes. The dough is not over worked and is served fresh, which is very important to me. I bake quite a lot so when I purchase baked goods, dare I say, I want them to be better than my own. That is the only way it feels like a treat. My granddaughter works close to this spot, so I will have to ask her to bring some treats to me one of these days. read more

I have never had scones in my life that are so fresh and delicious. The place has a friendly and homey vibe. It is known for breakfast or brunch, but you can have a quick stop for a coffee and scone with a friend. If you don't have time to eat in, they have ready-made scones to heat up at home or the dough to bake from scratch. They are a great gift idea too! read more

It was quite busy when I went with a friend, but I had a blueberry scone that was the current scone of the week, as well as a peppermint tea. The scone was warm and perfect. As was the tea.
