crostini with ricotta and hot honey

went for their Night Oat offering! bartender was incredibly kind and happy to make accommodations, the restaurant itself was quite a bit emptier than expected but overall still quite cute! the ricotta was incredibly smooth, but the hot honey could have been a BIT spicier

I had lunch here with one of my friends (Stacey B who's my friend irl that I recruited onto Yelp. Yay! Lol) and it was great. So Oat Couture (I have to say, as a person who loves food and fashion, I really love the clever name) is a cafe that sells oatmeal. Before you say "oatmeal bowls? Been there, done that!" listen to this: they have savoury oatmeal bowls (!) They have sweet oatmeal bowls too, but we went there specifically for the savoury ones. I got the Kyoto, which had beef brisket, shiitake mushrooms, pineapples and peanuts. There was some pickled ginger in it as well. I got a small bowl, which was $7. Medium was $11 and large was $14. The small looked really small, but I was actually satisfactorily full afterwards. I loved the beef brisket. It was actually lean! And also really tender. The sauce was sticky and slightly sweet. The shiitake mushrooms were also well marinaded and had lots of flavour. The pineapple chunks were fresh pineapple and not canned, yay! The amount of peanuts was excessive in my opinion, I could have done with half the amount, but I did like the crunch it added to the bowl. The pickled ginger (which was cut up into tiny pieces) added just the right amount of zing. I really enjoyed my oatmeal bowl. The flavours went well together. Stacey had the Hangover (cheddar, apples, bacon, maple syrup, and caramelized onions) and while I didn't have any, I could smell the bacon and it smelled so good! Lol. They also sell coffee and tea, sodas, oat-based drinks, and baked goods. I liked that they had a water dispenser where you can help yourself to water. Service was nice and friendly. You order, pay at the cash register, and pick up your order when it's ready and seat yourself. The place is not that big and seats are close together, so it would probably be really snug in there when it's busy. Decor is cool. I love their hammock-like suspended chairs at the front window. There is a single gender neutral washroom. For some reason there was a large flat screen TV in the washroom (!?!) It was not turned on when I was there. The washroom was clean, but they were out of paper towels during my visit - better than being out of soap! It was my first time having savoury oatmeal and I loved it. I personally found it a little bit pricey, so unfortunately I won't be a regular. Oat Couture is in Old Ottawa South, just south of The Glebe. Street parking only.

Oat Couture accommodates dietary restrictions and has gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options, and you can customize your bowl to the way you like it. The oats themselves are gluten-free and locally sourced. Not only do they offer sweet bowls with your standard toppings and stir-ins like homemade yogurt, fresh fruit, purees and compotes, they also have things like shortbread, lemon curd, and graham crackers and toasted marshmallow. They even have seasonal bowls, like the pumpkin one they had in the fall. They also have overnight oats, baked oats, oat-based smoothies, and granola. Gourmet oatmeal at its finest. I don't really have a sweet tooth, so I'm a fan of savoury oats! They have a few options like the Hangover with bacon, aged cheddar, caramelized onion, and apple, a nacho-inspired bowl, one with poached pear, dried fig, blue cheese, and pecan, and a Caprese bowl. I have to make my way through their menu, but I decided on the Kyoto bowl the last time, which has beef brisket, shiitake mushrooms, fresh pineapple, crushed peanuts, pickled ginger, green onion, and sesame seeds. I really enjoyed it! Hearty and filling, naturally sweet from the pineapple and savoury with the brisket. Definitely recommend sweet oatmeal fans give it a shot for something different! We were tempted to pick up some wine and beers to-go from their selection, but next time I visit I'll have to get a takeout scotch tasting flight since they also moonlight as Montgomery Scotch Lounge!

This spot and the sister location on Gladstone are fantastic. An awesome concept, and really good food. Overnight oats were super tasty, and the coffee is top notch. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful also, happily explaining the menu. The ambiance of the cafes is chic and comfy. We enjoyed hanging out. A great experience start to finish. Can't wait to return. Highly encourage supporting this business, and the new Gladstone location as well. You'll enjoy it!

I loved the oatmeal breakfast. They had amazing vegan breakfast options and been craving for them all week. It was an absolute delight and god freaking damn the oat meal was delicious. Massive kudos to the staff.

My all-time favourite cafe in Ottawa! Everything on the menu is amazing and is made in-store which really shows in the quality of the food. The staff are all so so friendly and the overall vibe of the cafe is beautiful. Best study spot in o-town with great lattes and such too! My fav bowls are Wimbledon, Savannah, and Sorrento, plus the holiday/seasonal bowls are always a must-try. The owners are also very involved in the local community which is so nice, they have a meal program plus have campaigns for supporting local business which I love!

This spot is excellent! They are open early and a great brunch spot every day of the week (especially when Ottawa can be a bit difficult to find places that offer weekday brunch during Covid). For my first time here, I tried one of the Savoury bowls (Hangover with bacon, apple, caramel iced onion and maple syrup). I was a little nervous about trying a savoury bowl rather than a sweet one but the waitress was so helpful and convinced me about how delicious the savoury bowls are and that Hangover is a good choice for your first time trying one! I'm definitely not a huge oatmeal person and I still really enjoyed this place! Cute outdoor patio that's been expanded due to Covid and lots of seating!

These doughnuts are light, airy and moist with an extra boost of flavor, colour and freshness from the orange and a faint hint of almond. And holy crap they smell AMAZING! The zesty orange flavour totally shines through and blends in so well with the carrot and almond extract combo. I also love the extra drizzle of orange icing and chopped almonds which makes for a delicious morning pastry or midday snack. ⁣

This place is a must!! First off, the location, patio, and general atmosphere is so comfortable and lovely. The staff are super friendly and helpful - the menu is quite large! I ended up having the locomotive oatmeal bowl and it hit every chocolate/sweetness I was craving. The staff said it was a great choice, had a tiramisu taste and was oh so right! So delicious!! A also just had their drip coffee, and it has so far been my favourite brew in Ottawa. Just can't get enough. Definitely a spot to return to!!

I tried to focus on the building and kind of didn't look at the result.. delicious regardless.

I am a big fan of oat meal as I eat it almost every morning so when randomly walked in front of this beautiful front store called oat couture (great play on word) I had to try it. The Menu threw me a curve ball with their savoury oatmeal that was topped shrimp . I did stay in the beaten path with the Rrreddblack. Rhubarb, strawberry, vegan oatgurt and steal cut oat++. It's was simple and very filling (I got the large) As I mentioned, I eat oatmeal all the time so I know how not boring and delicious it is but for the people out there who's thinking of a pack from the Quaker guy, go there and rediscover oatmeal because it's delishhh.

I was very impressed by Oat Couture. This unassuming little coffee shop/oatmeal outlet was warm and inviting like a hot bowl of its eponymous grain cereal. Mind you, this is not traditional oatmeal. This is indeed haut couture. I had the savoury "bubba" oatmeal dish which featured shrimp and avocado served on a bed of oatmeal that was infused with cumin, lime and green onion. The result was delightful. It was not unlike a flavourful rice side dish - warm, soft but not overwhelming. The menu otherwise looked expansive with a variety of both sweet and savoury creations that made me want to come back and try more. The staff was quite friendly and I enjoyed their choice of music. The swing in the corner was a lovely accent. Free wifi doesn't hurt either. Overall, this is a lovely new space with great food and one I hope to return to time and again.

This is a very nice coffee shop in the neighborhood . Not sure where they get their beans from. I saw they sell "little victories coffee" so it might be from there. Prices are reasonable, service is polite and the artwork on drinks is a nice addition. Tried a couple of sweets and everything was quite enjoyable. The interior is clean and cozy. Good place to chill on a sunny afternoon.

They have some seating available, including floor cushions. There is a sign that states limit to one hour when busy which I can understand. We arrived shortly before the post Iftar rush. It got very busy very quickly. Staff seemed to be overwhelmed as they get through all customers. We waited to have our order taken but sat down when they were busy. Eventually we placed our order and waited. Since we only got an adani chai and kunafa, we got our items quickly. The Adana chai was cooked well, it was creamy and flavourful. We got sugar sticks $.75 the concept it great, however, the stick breaks very quickly leaving your drink incredibly sweet so make sure to not leave it in there if you want a somewhat sweet tea. The kunafa was $12 for a piece. This was dissatisfying, it appeared to be re-heated because that was definitely not a fresh kunafa. It was dry and around the edges. We only had a few bites and left it. Overall, They have a large selection of drinks to choose from, and sandwiches. It appears to be incredibly busy during Ramadan but I will definitely come back to have the tea again.

I got takeout and got the Liver Platter $14.15, which was liver with onions, bell peppers and chili peppers. It came with Tanoor bread, which is a flat bread. The liver was piping hot and very flavourful, but some pieces were a bit tough with chewy pieces I couldn't eat. I was disappointed that the bread was not warm, just room temperature, but it was soft and chewy and still ok. The Liver Platter is their most popular dish. The inside of the cafe is nice. There are some regular tables, some high tables and some low tables where you sit on cushions. Those tables are pretty but they were occupied, so I couldn't take a picture for y'all. There's a live bird in a cage in the cafe, a musical instrument on the wall and other cool decorations. My visit was during the Covid-19 Pandemic and mask mandates were still in effect. However, I noticed that one of the people working there (I think he's the owner, bald guy) was interacting with customers at a distance of less than 6 feet (not behind plexiglass) while not wearing a mask. The young guy sweeping the floors was wearing a mask (and he wore it the entire time I was there), but the bald guy wasn't when I entered the cafe. As I was waiting for my food, more people came in and at that point he put on a mask, but it was so loose, I could see nose. This is what I observed. The cafe seems cozy and I like the decor. I may consider returning once the Pandemic is over. The cafe is in a little plaza (same plaza as Pizza Hut) and there's free parking in the shared parking lot.

I ordered the Passionfruit Latte, which was an intriguing blend of tropical notes that was actually tasted through the strength of the espresso. I liked that even though the drink was simple, the aesthetic was not neglected from the dried citrus garnish to the perfect gradient of the cup. I really enjoyed all the floral decor in the cafe to help beautify it as well. It's a cafe and a flower shop, with flowers everywhere and everything is pink. Very Instagrammable decor. I was served by the loveliest barista. He said it was his 4th day on the job (I was there mid/late December 2023). He made me the tastiest Peaches and Cream Fog (not on the menu, but should be, lol). They use Sloan Teas and the Peaches and Cream flavour is peachy and creamy with a subtle hint of floral. It wasn't too sweet and I loved it. Their croissants are flakey and buttery. Their carrot cake is good too, although the icing is too sweet for my liking. Really cute cafe! Street parking or paid parking lot parking only, which is the norm for places in the Byward Market.
