This is a solid cafe right here folks. I ended up here the first time as the brunch spot next to it has atrocious wait for some perplexing reason. I could only get take away as the seating was closed due to COVID-19 first visit. I enjoyed my drink so made a note to come back. They are still solid as before and I got to try their dessert offerings as well. Good scones on both tries. They offer both dairy and non dairy milks (this lead to a funny conversation with the barista when I asked for regular milk!) Here is the play by play Crema good Latte art good Taste This is a milder version of espresso Milk dairy here was frothed well One of the better cafe in Ottawa though seating can be a challenge especially in the winter

Blueberry crumble latte

We came recommended from next door while waiting for our table. I got the blueberry crumble latte and it was amazing! The best part was that the two businesses work together and will bring your coffee to the restaurant if you're called for your table!

Coffee bar!

We stopped here on whim. We were on our way elsewhere and saw the Coffee sign outside and said, I could use some. I walked in and was so happily surprised with high ceilings a low bar with pastries and a bunch of baristas hustling behind the bar getting everything pepared. The feeling of the room is cozy, modern, but hip. It was so cute. When we orderd they were patient with us as they let us try some root beer kombucha, how interesting right? I ended up getting a soy flat white that was fantastic and it went so well with my vegan pumkin sour cherry muffin, it was heaven. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice day on the patio. There was plenty of seating outside on what appears to be recycled wooden pallets. Very cool. I also loved the plants they had, so many! Highly recommend, I will be going back! And there was some street parking.

Such a cute spot!

I was on my way to volunteer and had planned to stop at a coffee shop just south of Arlington Five, but when I exited the Queensway and it took me across Arlington past this cute spot, I just had to pull over. First negative is parking is a beast. The day I stopped bye was January 10th and there had been a lot of snow and some rain the day before so Arlington street was flooded. Another reason why I stopped is because I assumed the road conditions would deter people from venturing in. I was definitely wrong. When I walked in there was a line of about four people. I don't mind waiting, especially when it gives me a chance to take in a new environment. The cafe is super cute and had a large variety of incredible looking pastries to choose from. I ended up debating between a couple of them so asked the baristas which one was their favourite. They both said the tart cherry pumpkin muffin so it was a no brainer. The muffin was delicious and super unique. My only suggestion would be to add a couple more cherries as I had about half my bites without any cherries and all of the rest contained only one. I also ordered a honey cinnamon matcha latte and was very pleased to notice the cafe uses organic whole milk. If I learned anything from the Q Graders from Augies Coffee shops and then Slow Bloom Coffee Cooperative is that if you're not using a milk alternative, the best choice is whole milk. I have been to a couple of coffee shops around Ottawa that did not offer whole milk as an option so I was very pleased to see Arlington Five using whole milk, plus to top it off, it was even organic! So, rather than going with oat milk, I ordered cow milk. I was slightly disappointed, but also almost late, when my Honey Cinnamon Matcha was served up as a Honey Cinnamon Latte. The anxiety of needing to leave prevented me from requesting the drink I ordered. As someone who does not like the taste of coffee, my only coffee consumption comes in the form of cold brew or espresso. Because I do not like the bitter flavour of coffee, I am quite particular about my espresso. However, while I was perusing the shop I noticed they also advertised and sold locally roasted coffee, so I wasn't too disappointed when the drink was made with espresso instead of matcha. I probably looked like I needed the extra caffeine ;) The latte was pretty good, only slightly more bitter than I prefer. Finally, I ordered an egg sandwich with red pepper. I had to take it to go and when I arrived at my destination, the paper bag holding the sandwich which was inside the to go paper bag had leaked what looked like a watery substance onto both bags. The sandwich was just over $12... and the pastry was $4 or $4.50, plus I also tipped 15% which was just over $3, but somehow my total with the drink was $28. I am happy to spend more at a locally owned business than support a big corporation, but $28 for a to go lunch of a simple sandwich, pastry, and coffee is why so many people frequent chain businesses. I would definitely recommend Arlington Five for their pastries, but I'd recommend skipping the lunch. I would like to go back to try out their matcha the next time I happen to drive bye.

My wife and I had a coffee date here for approx. $18, a bit on the pricey side but overall worth it. She ordered a Date Square Latte and I ordered a Cappuccino and we shared a Berry Buttermilk Muffin. Both coffees tasted very smooth and my wife was pleasantly surprised with how her Latte wasn't overly sweet. I tried a few sips and you could definitely still taste the espresso, which was nice. The muffin was fluffy and moist and tasty to share. The service and vibe were great at A5. It was pretty busy when we got there and we had to stand in line for a bit, but the staff were very friendly and efficient. Inside there is some seating available where you can be surrounded by plants and the natural light that pours in through the windows makes the café very relaxing. Outside they have picnic tables in the back and out front. Everywhere was packed, which goes to show this place is popular among the locals (and for good reason). There is street parking if you can find it. I recommend trying out the Date Square Latte if you go!

We tried coffe here and I tell you it was good. I got a cappuccino, really good. We also got muffin and it wasn't too popping tho. I don't like the fact that it's right there close to where ppl do the line for the coffe, they prepare for you fast!

blueberry crumble matcha

this was perfect. blueberry crumble matcha is such a unique idea which is also just SO smart. the sweetness of the blueberries and the warm spice crumble flavor complement the matcha so well. and the butteriness of the flavoring added such a good depth to the drink. I was also so glad that the crumble flavoring/syrup tasted homemade ! like it wasn't too syrupy, or overly sweet. it was perfectly balanced and you could taste the different components of the syrup. its a simple(ish) drink but I think it shows that the baristas at Arlington 5 really know what they're doing staff were incredibly kind as well and it had a cute pretty typical coffee shop ambiance.

Came in here in January to enjoy a little coffee while I got some work done. The space isn't large but they have it arranged so that there's plenty of seating. It was a weekday afternoon and most of the people were there working as well, so the atmosphere was perfect for me. I ordered their mocha, which was perfectly rendered. The espresso was rich and the latte art lovely. They also serve a variety of sandwiches. The service was kind and efficient and the prices are reasonable. I saw online that they're currently (temporarily) closed but looking to open soon for contact free deliveries of coffee, pastry, and a small selection of grocery goods. So, I would definitely stay tuned for that. Coffee and pastry delivered contactless right to your door? Yes, please.

Best coffee in town! It's a great atmosphere and a very community-oriented spot, staff is very friendly and the food is also very good and freshly made. Also vegan friendly if that's your thing.

I'm so happy that Wilf & Ada's was too busy to seat us right away, if it hadn't been I wouldn't have had a chance to walk around the corner to discover Arlington Five, a totally hip cafe and bake shoppe. It's a small vintagey footprint with old floors, figures and tables and chairs but that's the appeal of a place like this. It feels comfortable, warm, welcoming and heck they've got coffee so I'm all in! I got an Americano and a classic cream scone. Both were excellent and executed very well. My only issue is that I enjoy having my scones warmed or at the very least with preserves and/or butter and none of those were an option, which for me personally was a let down on an otherwise flawless visit. That minor blip aside I would totally come back here anytime I'm in town and if you're visiting Ottawa come check it out! Earcrest Out!

This was a nice stop during my wait for brunch next door at Wilf and Ada's. The worker at the brunch spot recommended that I stop by here to get some coffee while I waited. There's free wifi and a decent number of seating options inside. Outside, there's a bench and a single metal table with two chairs. I tried the Americano spritzer (coffee with tonic water and some lemon). All 3 ingredients are things I like but I will now announce that I will no longer fall for this drink again. This was the 2nd time I ordered a bubbly coffee drink (the first from a different coffee shop). Though I love bubbly drinks and the acidity of lemon, it doesn't mix well with coffee. Nevertheless, it was fun to try and I liked that their menu had fun options like this. They also sell pastries and lots of tea options. The girl who rang me up was friendly.

Cute cute cute. Perfect service, great coffee, simple but perfect decor. We only had coffee, but will return for lunch. Great music. Would I return: Yes! Would I recommend: Yes!

After a delicious breakfast over at Wilf & Ada's, I was craving an espresso. I was told they don't serve espresso however, their sister store is right next door. I wish I would have known this adorable little coffee shop was here, I would have grabbed my laptop and headphones and got some work done. When you walk in this place is very small, but for how small it is you would expect there to be no seating, this was not the case. There was a fair amount of available areas to make yourself comfortable. I ordered an almond milk latte - this was perfect and exactly what I was looking for. It was a very strong cup of coffee. But no complaints here. It looks like they did have some breakfast, soups and sandwiches available, but since I just stuffed myself right next door I didn't try anything out. If I find myself in Ottawa again, I will definitely be making my way back.
