My husband and I happened upon Happy Goat Coffee quite by chance and were looking for something quick for breakfast. We were greeted by such a friendly person at the ordering counter, who explained that it would be no problem to make me a drink with oat milk. We ordered 2 BLTs, my oat milk cappuccino and my husband's flat white. She very kindly brought the drinks and food over to our table and we were both surprised at how delicious everything was. The oat milk cappuccino was so creamy, with a nice, rich espresso flavour and it was piping hot just the way I like it. My husband loved his flat white too. The sandwiches were delicious, on rustic-looking ciabatta-type buns. When we walked in to the café, it looked so 'hole-in-the-wall' but we had such a great experience. It teaches one not to judge a book by its cover! We would definitely go back! read more

I love this little coffee shop. They have the best chai lattes - Starbucks has nothing on them. It's a great place to study/get some work done, catch up with an old friend, or just people watch. They have leftover Maverick's donuts and usually they have a deal on donuts that are a day old and super cheap (usually still very good). They play great music and the atmosphere is lovely. This branch of Happy Goat is located a brisk walk away from the uOttawa campus, so it is well-established among nearby students. Among the main reasons for its popularity among youth are its hip and laid-back atmosphere. As you'd expect, coffee, pastries, and small dishes are sold here. The doughnuts are courtesy of Maverick's Donuts. The brownie crumble I got from here was sweet. In terms of drinks, I had an iced americano served in a glass with a paper straw. I held the coffee for around 40 minutes, and the straw maintained its integrity. The drink itself was perfectly serviceable. The staff were chipper whilst taking my order and service was great. It's a good place to sit down and be productive on your laptop. Overall, it's a good competitor to the cafes nearby. read more

It may look unattractive, but trust me, sometimes you need those tilted dark glass, so you can peacefully make love inside with your date, latte, or whatever you're having... Clean, spacious, modern interrior with a great atmosphere. Breathable air quality which i tell ya most stores lack due to short ceiling. Great for new dating couples, students, forever-aloners and those who pretend to be working on their laptops but are actually checking other people out. It is also gay-friendly...so if you wanna take me on a date--we can certainly go here. I'll let you to buy me 100 cookies, some sweet goodies and a grande latte. That's all. This location is a 10 minute walk from uOttawa so you'll be seeing a huge student demographic who tend to linger and barely move from their seat because they are busy studying or on Facebook. The location is fairly well lit if you sit closer to the door, lots of seating space, but limited seats with accessible outlets. If you get cold easily, don't sit near the door - it gets very chilly during the winter. I ordered an Almond Milk Flat White (~$3.40) but it was overly acidic. I'm not sure if it was the blend that was used, but I barely finished it since it was so sour :( ! I came back here a few months after my first review and I would give this location a solid 4. This cafe has a lot more warmth than before, thanks to some new artwork, and cozy chairs all over. Great place for coffee! Got a flat white, and even though it was a bit smaller than what I expected (then again, I compare to Starbucks), tasted great and was very smooth. Also got a ham and cheese sandwich, which had a nice smoky ham flavour with just the right amount of grease on the ham and the cheese was great as well. Service was great as well, with the baristas clearing customer dishes every so often. Only thing keeping this place from a 5 is the amount of seating available. Went on a Saturday and the place was full of students studying, so maybe a few large tables would help create more seating area. read more

The food here is fine. It's clean. The staff is kinda out-of-it and rude. First time I was there I asked if they had blueberry muffins - I might as well asked how to land the Space Shuttle. One of my favourite cafés in Ottawa. I'm shocked at the 3.5 rating as I submit my review...this place is so laid back and genuine. The baristas are actually down to earth, which is unfortunately uncommon these days. The dirty chai was innovative. Nice lighting inside, not too light or dark. Every time I've visited this establishment, the coffee and the baked goods have been excellent. It may take a little more time than in many places to get your special coffee order, but I really find that the quality and taste are worth the wait. I buy their Rwandan Bourbon AA coffee beans and grind them myself at home during the week. Counter staff at the Wilbrod branch are prompt and welcoming. I also can't speak highly enough of the professional baker! I hear she's a graduate of Ottawa's Cordon Bleu school. Wherever she acquired her skills, her work is outstanding! The day I tried her canelle (sp?), I was literally stunned by the tastes and textures in my mouth. Another day I tried a cream puff with a lovely custard and real whipped cream, and I almost died. FYI, I grew up in Montreal eating excellent French food. This baker's output matches and at times exceeds the best I've ever tasted. Her chocolate cake is extraordinary. I appreciate being able to drop by this casual spot for coffee and these excellent and reasonably priced baking miracles. Yet I have to say that the young baker really deserves a much better gig, where her masterpieces are much better highlighted and where she can hopefully make more money. Taste her creations while you can. I think she's going places. read more

It's a cute place to get coffee. I usually get an iced latte here and they are good. I wouldn't say they have amazing coffee but I would come back again and try something different. The place gives me hipster vibes about it. Its close enough to the university of Ottawa to walk to and study, one downside is sometimes they run out of room to sit since it is crowded with students. read more

This is a super hip coffee shop with a reasonable amount of seating, great vibe, and yummy snacks. The only issue is the coffee... it is VERY SOUR... whether it be the cold brew, drip, iced coffee, iced Americano etc. the coffee is a major turn off for me. Despite all the great aspects of the shop, the taste of the coffee has deterred me and many of my uOttawa friends from going there. Maybe getting a hot chocolate or something caffeine free would be a good idea/ alternative but students need coffee and this place just doesn't deliver. read more
