This place is a bit legendary. Scones and preserves are next level, coffees have also been great on each visit. This visit was for breakfast. It's a very limited menu, which isn't an issue, but you should know! Essentially, it'll be one of their savoury scones, with egg and cheese, and ham if you wish. There was also a brunch options which substituted some fruit for the side salad otherwise included, and a side. The one quibble is that for the cost (tax and solid tip in, $60 for two of the Sconewitches and one brunch, and three lattés), you won't leave stuffed...but the food is that good. Not complaining, just advising!
Love this place! Had the salmon sandwich which was a nice portion of salmon. The sweet scones were my favourite, especially the orange cranberry but the vanilla was also good. Savoury scones that I tried included the cheddar and herbs (prefer the latter. Scones are $3.40 each, sandwiches $7.90, tea $2.55. Prices are super reasonable for the quality. The service was prompt and friendly. There are a few seats and tables for a casual get together. Would definitely come back!
I am a big fan of the SconeWitch. I love scones, so right away I was intrigued by the concept. The scones here are very flakey and on the smaller side, which makes for great sandwiches. I had the goat cheese and tomato sconewitch, which I really liked, and some of the potato kale soup they had that day, which was good and a nice way to warm up. I also took home a raspberry chocolate scone and a lemon poppy seed scone. Both were good the next day, especially after a few seconds in the microwave!
The service was very friendly. You order at the counter and then can seat yourself. They will bring your food to you, and you place your items away when you're done. I got the breakfast eggwitch with ham and cheese on a herb and onion scone. The eggs were well prepared and the scone was crumbly. It was perfect for a quick small breakfast.

I went for the poached salmon and cucumber sconewitch (the herb and onion scone being my scone of choice) along with a side salad ($2 extra). For around $10, this was actually very filling! While the scone wasn't too heavy and had some airiness to it, the salmon was well seasoned and complemented my side salad - while nothing special, had a delicious hollandaise dressing drizzled on top. As a scone enjoyer, I was pretty pleased with my experience. I'd definitely want to come back and try their dessert scones/drinks! They also seem to sell local jams as well :)
A casual little spot in downtown. Small menu, but we wanted something a little lighter, and a little different.. the Scone Witch fit the bill. Very friendly staff, DELICIOUS scones! Buttery, flaky delicious herb and onion with the eggwich. The vanilla cream has such a fantastic aroma, a nice subtle sweetness and just enough vanilla to not overpower the jam. Good coffee, and great iced mocha with deep coffee flavour.
Everything about this place you will be happy with! It's like eating at grandmas with homemade scones. Buy some to take home!

We came a bit too late for breakfast but we could still have their regular menu. Inside there was a bit of a line and just enough seats inside for everyone who wanted to dine in. Some of the scones and sandwiches were already sold out by the time we got there. We each ordered one scone sandwich and one scone. For the scone sandwiches, you can also choose which scone you would like. I also ordered an iced latte. The scones and sandwiches were all good. Only wished we came earlier before they sold out of certain items!
Considering Ottawa isn't known for their cuisine, this was delicious! The scone was so good and the hot tea was a perfect addition.
I was in Ottawa for a weekend trip and knew I had to check out The SconeWitch. Scones are the perfect flakey breakfast item for me, especially in the winter time. My sister and I came here on a Sunday morning 30 mins after opening, and they only had a few customers inside and a ton of scones available. The entrance was actually confusing to find as this place is part of an office building, and there was construction being done on the outside. You really have to utilize Google maps. In terms of scone flavours, they had savoury: feta, cheddar, herbs and garlic, and sweet: vanilla cream, orange cranberry, lemon poppyseed, oatmeal and gingerbread (flavour of the month). We ended up getting a dozen as it was so hard to choose which flavours we wanted. They also had the sconewitches, but we didn't end up getting those. They're such an interesting concept tho and I haven't seen it anywhere else really. They packed our scones in two boxes as requested and even gave us the cutest totebag to store it in. Overall, the scones were super flakey, they're a good size and oh so buttery and delicious. I love the variety of flavours they have and it's a must check out when you're in Ottawa.
The best scones ever!! We visited this place from Vancouver and it's a snowy day (-8C). It's so worth it to walk from our hotel to this place. We tried ham & Gruyère sandwich on Cheddar cheese scone & salads, melted bacon on herb & onion scone. For the sweet scones, we tried vanilla cream, cranberry & orange and lemon poppyseed- all were so good!!!!
Went to scone witch after it being highly recommended on a trip through Ottawa. The cafe is a decent size, no indoor seating currently due to covid. Take out only. They have a selection of scones, scone-witches and coffee offerings. We picked a selection of 6 scones for ~$15. They were incredible!! Still warm. So flaky and flavourful. Favourites were the cheddar and vanilla. My boyfriend who loves lemon also enjoyed the lemon poppyseed. Of note - the "low gluten" Options of raspberry and jalapeño were sold out by around 1:30PM so go early if you want those.

Pretty excellent scones! While they have a variety of jams available, they didn't have any clotted cream, which was disappointing. I visited three times during my stay in Ottawa, and one morning, only three types of scones were available -- not sure if that happens often. While the lack of variety was disappointing, it was alright, as all the scones were still delicious. Whether you get the sconewitch or just a scone + jam, all good choices. The date and fennel one in particular was a less common flavour that I enjoyed. Soft gooey date chunks and fennel here and there providing a good contrast of textures and tastes. Spacious, well-lit, comfortable space with plenty of seating. I'd love to come back and try all the different things on the menu. read more
My mother in law loves these scones so when we were in the city we picked them up 6 to go. The orange cranberry is so popular that a girl went back in line to order another one for home lol. Get it girl lol Staff was chill, the place wasn't super busy but we went kinda early like 10 am. read more

An absolute delight, every time. The scone sandwiches are generously stacked (highly recommend the salmon) and you can choose the type/flavour of scone to build your sandwich on. Full of flavour, always satisfying. Worth noting that they have a small gluten-free selection, as well. When I ordered one, the lovely staff asked if I had ever had one of their gluten-free scones before, and wanted to be sure that I knew what to expect as the texture was going to be slightly different. Nothing to worry about here, though - the gluten-free scones are excellent! read more

I would compare SconeWitch to Chick-fil-a in America but with a cafe/Canadian twist. This spot is known for their infamous scone breakfast menu. I ordered the bacon melt and asked for eggs so that I could make a sandwich. I also grabbed two scones to-go: Vanilla and Orange/cranberry. My meal was delicious and if I lived in Ottawa, it would probably be a go to breakfast spot for me. read more
Food here is delicious! We got the brunch for breakfast. It was a lot larger than what I expected so I couldn't finish it. But it was good. This place is super busy in the morning. There isn't a lot of seating so it fills up quickly: most people get their food to go because of the lack of seating. I think if we get breakfast here tomorrow I would order it to go & eat in our hotel room. So the way it works, you line up to order & pay. Then they give you a number & you pick up at the end of the counter. If you're staying to eat they bring your food to you. As soon as we walked in the door the place smelled like heaven. I came here for lunch on a weekday and it was a little busy. They have a lot of good options and I ended up ordering the salmon mealwitch. The meal came out pretty quickly. The herb scone was delicious and went well with the salmon. I'm not big on zucchini but the sauce was tasty too. I ended up staying longer to read/study but left when I noticed all of the seats were filling up. It seems like a good place to study or to meet up with a friend for lunch. I would definitely come back. read more

Had breakfast here on a chilly Sunday morning after a quick overnight trip to Ottawa. I ordered the brunch plate, which comes with scrambled eggs, your choice of topping (I had mushroom ragout), a side salad and fruit, and your choice of scone and jam. Most things on the menu are some variation of scones and eggs, so if you're looking for an elaborate breakfast/brunch menu this is not the place. My breakfast was really good, everything was very fresh and delicious. The mushrooms added good flavour to the eggs. My oatmeal scone with raspberry jam was warm and tasty, crunchy on the outside and dense and chewy on the inside. Coffee was very good. Service was quick and friendly. Portion size was just right, I was pleasantly full as I headed out for my drive back to Montreal. read more

I love the idea of this place! We had a lovely breakfast here! Like other reviews state, be prepared to line up! We were here for about 1.5 hours on a Sunday morning, and there was a constant lineup the entire time. This place is definitely popular, yet it's kind of a hidden gem at the same time! We went with the weekend brunch options which comes with some fruit and salad, two scrambled eggs, with a topping of choice, we went with the mustard glazed ham and the smoked salmon ($1 extra), and of course one of their famous scones flavour of choice and jam of choice. This breakfast starts at $14. There is a strong focus on local freshness, having everything sourced from local farms/vendors, this is a great place to come to support the city and it's surrounding businesses. The eggs, salad and fruit were lovely. The meat was just ok for me. I saw some other pictures and the ham looked a lot different, mine was kind of like a bacon, very thin and almost transparent whereas some people have thick cut pieces of real ham it looks like. I'm not sure what that was about but consistency might be an issue, I also didn't taste any mustard glaze. The smoked salmon was good, however for $14 plus $1.00 extra for the salmon, the portion of the protein could have been a bit more generous. The star of the show is definitely the scones. We tried the cheddar with our breakfasts and they were buttery and flakey and just to die for. I bought a half dozen to go and all the flavours were just spot on. My favourites being the cheddar and the feta. They also have sweet scones as well as the savory ones. The restaurant is tucked away on one side of the Shopify building, and it features a very cool, modern-meets-industrial look. There are some nice warm touches that make this place a bit more cozy, but it's definitely got a hipster vibe. My only gripe might be the price. For two breakfasts, an iced mocha and 6 scones, it was around $52 which for breakfast is a lot, I feel. I totally understand that it's not Tim Horton's but I'm hard-pressed to pay that for dinner sometimes! I would absolutely come back for the scones, I'd probably pass on the meals and sconewiches and whatnot just because I think it's a bit pricey but the scones which are $2 and some change and well worth it. With weekend hours beginning at 8am, The SconeWitch isn't for the early bird, but in Downtown Ottawa, beggars can't be choosers as many businesses are closed when the city work force disperses after their five days of work. Things were rather quiet on a Saturday morn, but much busier a tad later in the day the following Sunday. Their scones were lovely. You could just see the many layers. Crisp on the outside yet tender on the inside. We shared their Ham & Gruyere Sconewitch $5.99, and Vanilla Cream sweet scone $3.75 ($2.25 scone plus a charge for the lemon curd). The ham was thick cut, and the Sconewitch more than sufficient on its own to break one's fast. The sweet scone was good as well, but the lemon curd! They make their own, but too bad they don't sell the stuff canned like they do the jams produced by Moss Berry Farm (250 ml $6.25, 64 ml $2.95). I returned on my own the next day for a breakfast of their Eggwitch $6.95 (savoury scone hallowed, filled with egg, ham, cheese & garnish of fruit & greens). They weren't kidding that it was a garnish. But the fruits and greens were also quite varied and colorful - think thinly sliced apple fanned out, pomegranate seeds, pineapple and a black berry. The pastry with creamy eggs was good, but so filling that I couldn't manage it all in one shot. read more

Tasty place to get a snack! On the pricer side for a small "sconewitch" hence 4/5 stars. But great place to get a quick bite with a healthy side of salad or soup. I saw that a few other tables ordered EggWitch.. that's something I'd order next! Tips: I'd avoid the place during office lunch time as the place fills up quickly.. come before or after the office lunch rush! Sometimes they have day old scones for sale at the front for a discount price. read more
Never been to the UK but SconeWitch makes the best scones I've ever had. It's a first come first serve so get a seat before lining up to order. Get their Mealwitch with Mushroom Ragu or their Brunch options. Since I really wanted to taste their scones by itself with a bit of Devonshire and jam, I ordered a simple vanilla cream scone and oh my God, they are amazing - perfectly dense and fluffy. read more

I stopped in to The Scone Witch recently after a physiotherapy session, on my way to an acupuncture session, and needed a good fill-up before hitting my next therapy. This place definitely delivered on that. It's the first business I've entered, other than a grocery or health food store or therapy centre, since COVID. They were nicely set up with adequate spacing and flow, and the staff were all masked and following protocols. I felt completely comfortable being inside the store, plus there was only one other customer when I went in, even though it was lunch time. One of the food prep staff had on THE BEST mask I have ever seen, so amazing that I had to let him know. It was a black leather-looking type material with long fringe all across the front -- absolutely stunning, and a good time. I mean, I'd almost just go back for the mask viewing. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the "low gluten" option that I ordered still set off a major flare-up of gluten intolerance in my system, leading to some phlegm and gut issues. I've had to adopt the anti-inflammatory diet since getting and recovering from COVID, so gluten is a bit of a no-no for me now, unfortunately. It was freaking delicious, though, so I guess it was worth the temporary pain just once. I'd love it if they managed to do a totally gluten-free option, though, at least until I can recovery fully and once again enjoy wheat products. I'm hoping that day will come sooner rather than later, but until then, I might have to hold off on The Scone Witch for a while. For you, dear reader, however, it is completely worth the visit to try some of their light, flaky and delicious scones. Mine had baked salmon and cucumber. Yum. read more
I tried the Brunch dish here! The goat cheese feta omelette combo where you get to pick your scone and jam, and it comes with a side salad. Price: 14.95$ a little much for the quantity of food The scone is the gem of the dish to be honest. Although the omelette is very tasty, salad is salad. I had the blue berry scone with ginger jam! Scone: amazing, the texture so perfect Ginger jam: the ginger flavour was sweet but not overwhelming I'd recommend just buying a bunch of scones and trying them all out! read more

Arrived 10 minutes past 11 and missed the breakfast menu , boo. I orders the smoked turkey and Stilton sconewitch. It was awesome! The scone was so tender and flakey. It was really good. read more
