Cool concept where HQ is a cafe and also a salon, guess businesses need to diversify to lower their risk these days. For brunch, we ordered the HQ Fried Chicken and HQ Benedict and a latte. The dishes were vibrant in colour and look very appetizing. The chef brunch protein for the benedict was jalapeno pork sausage and it definitely had a nice kick to it. The eggs were soft poached, both the English muffin and the homefries helped soak up the gooey goodness! The fried chicken dish was a bit disappointing in 2 ways. 1) It was corn season and they still decide to use relatively flavourless frozen corn kernals. I would suggest using fresh ingredients when it is in season. 2) For the price, I was expecting 2 pieces of fried chicken, instead it was a single piece of medium size chicken breast attached to a drumette. To give them credit, the breast wasn't dry and the root beer maple syrup went very well with the homefries. The latte was alright it did have a slightly bitter aftertaste though. read more

HeadQuarters is such a unique spot! It's like a restaurant, coffee shop, and hair salon all in one. I really enjoyed the iced dulce leche latte with oat milk. Food ordered by myself and friend were really good! The only downfall was the service. We kept having to call the server over for menus, utensils, to order, and check the status of coffee. 3.5 stars What a cool concept! It's half restaurant / half hair and make up salon. We were seated right beside the glass so we could watch people get their hair and makeup done as we ate. If you were getting a service done, you could order drinks and food also. They had a cool looking patio as well. Located right in Byward Market, it's definitely a hip spot to check out for brunch. The menu has a fusion twist to it, with no 'regular' breakfast options. If you are looking for a different food experience, this would be a good place to try. I ordered the Benedict where the meat was sort of like a bulgogi flavoured ground beef and the homefries were sweet. My partner ordered the crispy French toast and it was straight up deep fried. The Benedict was good but I probably wouldn't recommend the French toast unless you're looking for something completely heart stopping. The dishes range from $15-20 per plate. They had a special for $5 mimosas and $5 Caesars. The service was very slow. It was the weekend so I understand it's busy but we didn't see our server very much. I enjoyed my food but I'm not sure if I'd be dying to visit this place again. read more

So Headquarters is a restaurant, cafe AND a salon? Interesting business concept, quite fitting in the trendy touristy Byward Market. Granted the salon half is a separate unit separated by a glass wall so you don't have to worry about the very idea of hair bits and hairspray migrating into your meal. But I'm just here for the food, which Yelp tells me HQ has plenty of highly rated, it opens early enough and is close to my hotel, so I can walk my lazy ass over for a big brunch. Because my lazy ass figured if I have one big brunch each day of my trip instead of two separate meals, I can gain more time to explore. (Not sure if you want to follow this bit of travel hack advice.) Who wouldn't want to do brunch every day, right? It's an Instagram foodie influencer's bloody dream! The street HQ is on is full of wide street patios. (Judging only by what I saw in the Byward Market, honestly Ottawa has a better street cafe culture than Toronto--sorry Toronto.) So naturally I took up an entire table outside and had me some coffee to start. Cute trendy clean ambience with friendly staff, who apologetically warned me even of wandering wasps which may be bothersome. Must be an Ottawa thing--nobody in Toronto ever warn you of annoying wasps and bees! My main was a Brunch Poutine. Which in summary was a fun and decent choice, not too sweet with the honey drizzle, though the bacon topping was overly crisp. read more

Located in Byward Market, a nice relaxing venue to get brunch. The place does get busy in the morning so try to book ahead of time. Since outdoor seating was only available, the restaurant opened up a tent area for people to go with the outdoor patio. We got a couple of coffee drinks to get us jolted up and started off our day with a breakfast sandwich and eggs benedict. Wait staff were incredibly busy but they did the best they could as there was a lineup forming during the morning. There aren't many modern, spacious brunch places in Ottawa which is why I was super happy to discover HeadQuarters. The space was nice and they're not very busy so you can sit and talk after the meal. Some people also seem to be studying or working there as well. HeadQuarters isn't restaurant like. You choose your own seat and they will bring you a menu. Then, you order at the counter. They have a nice selection of brunch options including vegetarian and vegan items. I ordered a latte and a brunch burger. The food is a little pricey for what the ambiance is, but definitely very tasty. The portions are very filling as well. The latte was super cute because it came with two little sugar cubes. HeadQuarters is also connected with a salon. Not quite sure what the relationship is there but there are glass windows separating the two. The space appears more open but you are also watching people get their hair done during breakfast which can be a little odd. Finally got the chance to discover Thai brunch spot. They did an amazing job making a nice patio, with heaters, nice benches and fake grass . Service was fast and nice. Their coffee was amazing!!! I am SO glad that I finally made it out to HeadQuarters. I'm not sure what really took me so long, I mean- they serve brunch until 5pm which is pretty awesome and convenient for those of us late risers! I love that it's conveniently located downtown in the market area, and that you can get a meal, a coffee, or a haircut (separate area). It's a really cool concept that is clearly working. I ordered the HQ Benedict and my friend had the Avocado on Toast. We also were so curious that we split the Crispy French Toast. Topped off with an iced Burnt Honey Latte, everything hit the spot! We were so full but I have zero regrets. My favourite part was probably the maple herb home fries. I don't know how they did it, but they were out of this world and I'm already counting down to come back for them again! The eggs Benedict was good, but the potatoes were definitely the star for me- probably because I'm not super crazy about back bacon. The Crispy French Toast was out of this world. I usually prefer a savoury brunch, but would gladly make an exception for this dish! It was the right combination of flavours- not too sweet, not overly rich, just scrumptious enough that you don't want to stop even when you're full. I would definitely do it again! Look - I have eaten a lot of potatoes in my life. But let me tell you something about these goddamn breakfast potatoes. Unreal. Like 'what the fuck did I just eat' type good... Not sure if they are always like this but - you guys in the kitchen....hats off for making something so simple, so phenomenal. Breakfast sandwich was very nice as well. Just tried this place for the first time after four years of searching out the best brunch places in Ottawa I have to say I was NOT disappointed. The wait staff were incredibly kind and service was very fast. My friend and I had the HQ benny featured in the picture. The potatoes were the perfect combination of sweet and salty and they use their own root beer maple syrup instead of hollandaise sauce. I'm not a root beer fan but this sauce was delicious! The price was also incredibly reasonable, our orders each only came to $21 without tax and we were so full afterwards. Highly recommend this place to any brunch lovers out there. read more

They take orders at the front, give you a number, and you'd sit at your table and wait for the waitress to bring you the food. The brunch menu consisted of around 20 items + drinks / cocktails. We ordered the brunchy chicken and vegetarian eggs Benedict. They used some sort of a crunchy vegetable to substitute the meat (couldn't tell what the vegetable was) with a side of salad. The Benedict was decent, a little too sweet for my liking. The salad had this syrupy dressing on it, again, very sweet. The brunchy chicken was tender, but not amazing. Overall, the place is okay. Very expensive for the quality of the food and drinks. Breakfast poutine had way too much gravy and was far too salty. Lemonade was very bitter and tasted like it was made from a powder and not mixed properly. Drinks took 30 minutes to arrive and then the food came about 3 minutes later. I ordered the HQ Benedict with duck and the ginger tumeric latte. The latte tasted like milk with sprinkles of tumeric on it, wouldn't recommend it. The Benedict was good but the poached egg was filled with water which leaked all over the plate causing the Benedict to get soggy. I sent it back and they simply moved the same food to a new plate. So the English muffin was very soggy and gross. I didn't eat that one. Was unimpressed with their inability to at least get a new muffin to deal with the sogginess. Never going back. Food Poisoning Beware! I came for brunch a few days ago on my trip to Ottawa. Ordered the fried French Toast. Was delicious. And quite heavy...hence..the only meal that day for me. Around 6 hours later I started getting ridiculous nausea and then vomiting, diarrhea and all the works. I almost ended up in the ER from dehydration. Eating here completely ruined my trip to Ottawa. I spent the next two full days recovering in my hotel room. I called this restaurant daily, multiple times a day to let them know of the incident in the hopes they wouldn't contaminate someone else. No one picks up here. I got stuck messaging them on Instagram. I still haven't heard back from anyone. Avoid avoid avoid ! read more

July 1.2021 Went for brunch, told it will be 20 min... waited 1 hr ( because reviews said it was good). Finally seated at a table ( no the place wasn't slammed ). Service was tragic, like comical bad.. waitresses seemed to only deliver one item at a time and returned to kitchen each time leaving left dirty tables full whole people waited to be seated? Brought water to one table to refill glasses and didn't refill any other tables ( despite it being hot out and water glasses empty and no drinks yet delivered?)Bartender spent the entire time we were there talking to friends visiting inside ( 15 min to get beers and a soda to our table?).. food came fast and was ok, we all agreed it was "ok" not worth the long wait or crappy service... hope your experience is better than ours. Despite the food and coffee being super yum - it's outrageously expensive.... therefore great for a treat once in a while but not somewhere I'm comfortable going more than once every few months.
