Honestly I didn't even know Netarts existed but I somehow took a wrong turn on my way to Cannon Beach and it ended up being the right place to be. Nestled along the bay is The Schooner restaurant, which is a charming place to spend an hour or so munching on some good food. The warm lighting, ample seating, and wood interior makes it a cozy place to spend some time, and the staff are incredible. They're highly attentive, able to make you feel like you're the only customer in the restaurant even when you're not, and will get you your food fast! Very generous portions of food for what you pay. Personally felt like the fish had more breading than fish and needed more flavor, as did the Cole slaw, but definitely cooked the right away. Didn't leave me feeling super greasy and like I had to pass out on the beach after. Felt good enough to go for a jog! read more

Wonderful dinner and drinks on a gorgeous Netarts evening. We are camping nearby and didn't want to travel far for dinner the day we arrived. We decided to go to Schooners; we've been before but this time the food was better, the cocktails were yummy and the service was exceptional! My husband ordered traditional fish & chips and I went with the cod and a side salad. While both options were great, the fries were a little on the blonde side and could have used a few extra minutes in the fryer. My lemon drop was amazing with a sugar rim! Our waitress/bartender offered excellent, friendly service and while the restaurant was full, the staff handled it like pros! It is a little pricey, but not more than most coastal eateries. The best thing about this place is the view of Netarts Bay. Unfortunately, everything else, not so much. My fist tip off was AC/DC blasting in the diningroom. That should have been a clear warning. Mu friend and I each ordered drinks and let's just say that my Cosmopolitan left a lot to be desired. I found it undrinkable. When I asked fir a replacement, the server retorted, 'well, its what you ordered.' I asked for a Manhattan and came to the table in an effervescent state due to it being shaken to near death. I ordered steamers as an app and they were delivered with our entrees. Our server never checked in with us and my guess is, he had to work both the bar area and bar deck area. My friend shared that her crab cakes, salad, and drink were fine. He charged me for the awful drink and never asked us about how our meal was. Never coming here again. read more

We went for a family girls vacation for Mother's Day! We stayed at a nearby house that recommended the establishment- I was super impressed!! Great views, staff friendly, food came promptly and was delicious!! We've been visiting this area for years, and we still love their food. We arrived on a busy Sunday night, with a 30-minute wait list. We enjoyed playing corn hole on the extended patio, and we got called in. My husband didn't care for the table near the kitchen and he went out to talk to the hostess. And that's where things went wrong. They did offer one other table, but we decided we preferred to be outside. Instead of just putting us back on the wait list, the younger hostess made a smart remark about we should have told her that sooner, and actually started chastising my husband for making her job harder. She wasn't wrong / I was hungry and a little miffed at the man myself - so I walked away and waited in the car. Turns out, she assumed we left and never put us back on the list, so after waiting another half-hour, we checked and she was going to just put us back on the wait list. So we left. I was really disappointed that this was handled poorly - I accept our part in the miscommunication, but the hostess certainly was not professional or helpful. read more

Fantastic location on the water with a big covered outdoor seating area that is heated when it's cold out. Also has indoor seating. Excellent menu with options for everyone. We had all kinds of dietary restrictions in our group and everyone had a satisfying experience. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. And they seemed to be well staffed for the busy summer crowds. The only thing I found less than impressive was their clam chowder. It was flavorless, gloppy and lukewarm. This place was one that we came across. The location is pretty neat. People stop by and area for crabbing from what I can see. The restaurant is located in the middle and has a decent view. I believe this maybe a little higher end restaurant around this area. The oysters were amazing! Sizing was great. They were a little less staffed in the front end. However food came out pretty fast. Overall, worth a try. But not too sure if I would go out of my way for it though. Average for its price point. I forgot to take a photo of our home made bread (disappointed) and the bowls of clam chowder. (Not the best, but wasn't too bad. However, I felt it was overpriced for the amount you get) read more

This place deserves more than 3 stars, people! The location is immediately off the bay, so you have great views. The staff are friendly and it has a VERY local vibe. The food is great! I had the oysters rockoyaki for an appetizer. It comes out in a piping hot skillet with hot rocks keeping the oysters warm. The dish had great flavor, sort of similar to a dynamite dish you would get at a sushi restaurant (only comparing the flavors), but has a lot more garlic and spice. I had the steelhead for the entree. It was fresh and cooked to perfection. It came with a large portion of roasted vegetables. I should've taken a photo of the rest of the food we got clam chowder. I've never had sour clam chowder before and the pizza was clearly burnt (that's not meat. That's burnt tomato) How are they not embarrassed sending it out let alone serving it like that. Lastly, I ordered the baked clams. They were lacking so much. My husband and I came with our 20 yo daughter. There was no room in the dining room (lots of tables open but probably not enough staff?) so we went to the bar area and sat at a high top. This was not at the "bar" but near it. Since she wasn't 21 she was kicked out. We stayed and had a beverage but it just was too bad the way it went down. There was even a half wall between us and the actual bar so part of me doesn't understand why she couldn't sit with us and just have an appetizer and some water. Rules are rules but it was frustrating. We did get some chowder and dessert to go for this daughter and our other two that didn't feel like coming and the food was good. read more

We had an excellent experience and food! As a family of six, four kiddos, we had the big picnic table in the covered area and had wonderful service, fast seating and great times food! The food was also exceptional in our options! We got the crab Mac n Cheese, the Ol' Smokey burger, kids pizza, kids cheeseburger with TLP and the calamari. We tried to get a table for 9. We were told it would be 45 min to an hour wait time. They had a 4 top and a 5 top open but couldn't put them together and couldn't - or wouldn't- seat us together or separately. We asked if they would set us separately but no. I'm very disappointed as I was looking forward to the menu. Our party was all adults and it would have a nice tab for them. We would have even accepted the large party fee. What a truly special place. Greeted warmly by the hostess who recognized my friend from her dog walks. It was around 6:00pm on a Thursday. Place was a little crowded and the weather was sunny and clear with a breeze. We were those people (mainly me) who were kinda picky about the table and asked a lot of questions. The hostess was patient and kind and after being told it would be a 20 minute wait we were seated in less than 10:) Our table ended up being directly in the line of the sun. We went back up and asked for a more comfortable table and it was no problem even though we had already been helped and gotten our water. Ok, now to the food :) Again, we are those people who always need just a few more minutes the first couple of times when asked if ready. That is followed by a lot of questions. Justin was our server and he had a great sense of humor and made a great Nojito. I highly recommend this refreshing drink with muddled mint, cucumber and other magically delicious things. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The bottom was a block of cheesy jalapeño grits that were very creamy and balanced in flavor. On top of that was a tomato, onion and mushroom sauce. The eight huge shrimp were perfectly cooked in olive oil or butter. The entire dish was topped with cilantro, green onion and a perfectly cooked egg with a runny yolk on top. This was outstanding. My friend got the Steelhead Trout which was cooked perfectly on top of fresh sautéed broccoli, fingerling potatoes and carrots. It was a very generous piece of fish and the vegetables were very hearty. The fish was crispy on the outside while still tender and juicy on the inside The value is there in the quality of food and ser Justin took good care of us, checking in and taking the time to joke with us. Our family had a delightful birthday lunch! Carrie even took our decorations inside before the place opened and set them up at our table. We realized the booth was too small for our party of six, so the staff moved us to a corner booth--much more comfortable. If reserving a table for more than four people, ask for the corner booth. Everyone loved their food--my crab mac 'n' cheese was DELICIOUS (SOOOO much crab!) and my partner really enjoyed the shrimp & grits. We were allowed to bring our own birthday cake, which was much appreciated. The atmosphere is bright/airy in the restaurant, while the bar/lounge is cozier (both with a lovely view of the bay). The metal fish sculptures outside are set in a concrete wall with oyster shells--very pretty! And the fish were sculpted/welded by a server's (Carrie) father! Exceptional seafood meal @ The Schooner on Netarts Bay, OR. !! Hostess was unfriendly, but our waitress was outstanding. Restaurant itself had great booths inside. Many patrons enjoyed dining on the outside patio as well. All of our food, as seen in pictures, was delicious!! We ate every morsel, with the exception of the packaged oyster crackers. I would recommend catching a meal here if you're in the area, but come between peak meal hours, as it gets extremely busy. Unless you drive into Tillamook, there's not many options around, so people in vacation homes with big parties can add to longer wait times. read more
