Lordy the man that works here was busy. He's helping customers, steaming the crabs, changing the nets, etc etc We got a half pint of shucked oysters. He packed them in ice. There was 13 in there for $14 Some cocktail sauce $3 The crabs looked awesome and man ahead of me buying two. $12 a lb And best of all the man gave me a shot glass cause i said they looked so cool! And I used it to make oyster shooters at home Delicious!

Best cocktail sauce ever. Total game changer. Buy as much as you can and stock up if you're not local.

Very friendly, very clean, good fish and seafood. Nice place to get the fresh catch and they'll fillet it, too.

YIKES! Super bummed to have been treated so poorly. When you think small coastal town with a…read moretourist attraction like a scenic train depot stop, you think friendly, quaint, happy to support small business - well, I do at least! Our family did the Oregon Coast Scenic train from Rockaway Beach to Girbaldi. The layover in Girbaldi was very short, 25 mins, and we were looking to grab a quick bite and water. The conductor suggested the Girbaldi Bay Market. The markets 'deli' was closed (it was 330p) but had pre-made sandwiches to choose from. The slender, short, light brown haired lady at the register came over asking if we needed help, we asked about the made to order sandwiches and were told only the pre-made ones were available. Ok, fine. Then asked about the advertised fried chicken, that was also not available. Alright. So then one would assume there was nothing more to 'help' us with. We say thank you and carry on. As we are sorting thru the medicore selections, the lady is standing there staring at us with her scanner in hand with an obviously annoyed look on her face, LIT.ER.AL.LY rolls her eyes, whispers something negative to the other cashier and goes back to her sheets of barcodes. I apologize for not knowing what we wanted and she just stares at me as if I was inconveinencing her by bringing her business. I don't want to assume this treatment is reserved for 'outsiders' or those with more melanin but it makes you wonder. Having a heavy service industry background I'm always taken aback when confronted with unprovoked rudeness. I can't speak for the rest of this small town but I would recommend getting your liquor, deli, small market needs at the next gas station (Cheveron) or better yet - just blow through this dying town altogether.

On a day trip up to the Tillamook area I had all the important things covered: breakfast (Bagel…read moresandwiches at Pacific Edge Espresso), beach (a little walk along Rockaway), flowers (Old House Dahlias), and lunch (Pronto Pup). What I didn't have planned was a sweet treat and I was on the lookout! I spotted Big Shu's on our way to the beach, and while it was early enough that they weren't yet open, I filed it away to check on our drive back by. And happily, we spent enough time gallivanting in the sand that they were, indeed, open for the day. Yay! We pulled into a parking spot (only a few and the lot is bit awkward, though there is more available behind the store) and trotted on in. It is an unassuming lil' shop with a limited selection of chocolates, but I don't mind as that meant I didn't have to make any tough decisions. I got at least one each of all the dark chocolate varieties on offer, along with a bag of peanut brittle. I believe THE Big Shu helped us and was nice and friendly as could be! He packaged up our selections in a simple white box (with flavor key, thank you very much!) and we were on our way. Well, I'm nothing if not a true chocoholic so as soon as we were in the car I tried one of the chocolate buttercreams. I don't want to say I was surprised by how good it was because that implies I didn't think it would be that great, but the chocolates just looked so simple I wasn't sure what to expect. It was delicious! I am not big on cream fillings, and this buttercream is what should always be used instead. Man! It was so yummy I next had to try the coconut, and then that was so tasty I had to try the peanut butter and well, with my best intentions to save the treats to enjoy over a couple days, between my husband and I we ate them all before we got home. He also consumed the entire bag of peanut brittle so....let's just say Big Shu knows what he is doing! They also had milk and white chocolate if you aren't a dark chocolate fan, and I am pretty sure I spotted some fudge as well. You can order online for pick up or just stroll into the store like we did. I wish I lived closer so I could return with regularity, but you best believe next time I'm visiting that I'll be picking up 1 or 2 (or 3!) of each of the chocolates available.

About a year ago, I had some very incredible chocolates here, and this truly is a very welcoming…read moreplace. Admittedly my home is rather far from here so I have not been there in quite some time, but I am quite happy to see that Big Shu's Chocolates is on the map now! Hope to return to this lovely business at some point in the future!
