Bottle of a magnificent sour to go.

This places beers are so amazing I bought almost $200 with of beer to go. Great ambiance, guy serving the beers was very knowledgeable and over the top helpful. I hesitate giving this review because I want to keep getting some of these limited beers just for myself.

Let me set the record straight; I am clearly more of a wine than a beer drinker. Also, I have three local go to breweries and the ever growing Barrel Republic where you can try anything new. My husband and I were part of the early scene of the local craft brew scene. I attended the grand opening on Stone who led the way for all others, while working in the wine industry. I was taking care of some business from San Elijo and decided to drop into this new location for The Lost Abbey, this location being called "The Santuary" and truly it is, lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's the perfect place for COVID-19, as you can spread out and sit in silence if you wish. A young lady invited me to sit with her and a couple people and I kindly declined, but her gesture was sweet. I think people want to connect so badly during this pandemic, yet to remain safe I kept my distance, but am aware that studies show that just being out "near" other people creates a sense of connectedness. I enjoyed their Belgian style beer and the stout via taster. I will try the Red Poppy next, sounds like it has many flavors I love, but it's only in a bottle right now and not on draft. The Lost Abbey also has a location in Cardiff, which seems to have been the rage for years...this location called "The Confessional"...since I have nothing to confess at this time...I'm sticking to the Sanctuary! A pleasant excursion nearby. PS I have been to the main location to support Christmas in July and Toys for Tots, they have a good Santa! #SanElijo #LostAbbeyBeers #TheSanctuary #CraftBeer

I've become a big fan of the Lost Abbey's beers over the years and this new tasting room location just opened and is already killing it. I only wish they had a few more of their beers on tap here and also decorated the place more like their Cardiff location which I've only visited 600 or so times. It's spacious as heck with outdoor seating out front and in the back, and tons of seating inside, both at the bar, the main "dining" area, and the middle portion of the building with some super comfortable leather chairs. Plenty of free street parking all around. Kid-friendly but really nothing for the kiddos to drink here, as far as I could tell. But like their other locations, you can bring in outside food and drinks and there are a number of eateries (pizza, Mexican, sandwiches, Starbucks) within easy walking distance. This location has gone through a number of businesses over the years. I have faith that these folks know what they are doing and will be very successful. I'll certainly do my part in helping them.

Great local spot for beer with friendly service and regular food trucks throughout the week. Thursday is one of our favorites as the pizza place that comes through has excellent wood fired pizza.

Still love this place. Love these glasses for delicious, local, Belgian-style beer. Come and support your favorite, awesome local businesses during this shitty Coronavirus bullshit.

Awesome addition to the San Elijo hills neighborhood !

This is great addition to the little town of San Elijo Hills. Amazing selection of tasty craft beers from "Lost Abbey" & "The Hop Concept". Both brews from a very popular and long time north county brewer. Two rooms of seating in a classy well designed building. Additionally they have patio seating out front as well as a larger patio in back. Parking in San Elijo Hills can be a challenge at times but "The Sanctuary" is definitely worth the effort. Nice work Tommy!

I came on a Friday afternoon and decided to sit outside in front of the brewery. They also have seating in their back area too. Chiko (Chinese/Korean) food vendor was onsite too. Ordered their crispy calflour which went perfect with my beer tasters.

This is the best addition to the town square and our favorite spot! The beers are delicious, and they have a great variety of styles for all preferences. As well, their food truck rotation is fabulous! They do a great job of communicating their food truck schedule via their Instagram account. Their staff is friendly, and their space is comfortable. We feel so lucky to have them in our little town square!

this place is the best. as a SEH local i really enjoy having quality craft beers within walking distance from my house. devin and eric are awesome beer tenders and they know their stuff. they are super accommodating and it's always great to see their friendly faces after a long week. also, in regards to the one star review left this week... as someone with experience running a tasting room and restaurant, having 25+ people show up and take over a patio without properly reserving the space causes for a lot of issues. 1. if the staff of the establishment doesn't know 25 + people are going to show up, they cannot properly staff for your event and that will likely leave you and your friends frustrated. 2. these pop up parties also make other guests experiences less than stellar as the area quickly can get over run with party goers who would not normally frequent the location. 3. only because we're still in covid times i'll add this... the rules of the city clearly have restrictions about party size and gatherings size, especially with folks whom are not from the same household. so having a 25+ person shindig at a tasting room is irresponsible on a few levels. obviously there's the whole close quarters virus transmission thing, but also, the establishment can potentially LOSE THIER LICENSE AND HAVE TO BE SHUT DOWN if the ABC were to walk in and see this going on. putting that kind of stress on a couple of bartenders on an already busy night during times that dictate clear adherence to guidelines is not the best way of showing community spirit. i'm not mad, i'm just disappointed.

It was on a Friday night, the place was packed, and difficult to find a spot to park. The line to order was almost out the door, but still fast to get through, and we were quick to choose what we wanted before struggling to find a spot to sit and talk. After about 15 minutes, our order was ready and we got to enjoy our food. We started with the Carne Asada Nachos, Refried Beans on the side. The meat was flavorful, very tender, and plentiful atop a pile of crisp and fresh tortilla chips. The cheese was nice and salty and the sour cream was warm to the point where it drizzled over it all nicely. All in all, it was a very tasty start to the night. The only two issues I had with it were that the guac was a bit overly pureed, making it kind of runny. And the refried beans had a very sour flavor, making me think that they were over the edge of going spoiled. I had to thank my wife's aversion to eating beans, helping us avoid having them spooned on top, which would have ruined this course. I also had an Al Pastor Taco, Craft Coast Style. The whole it was crisped up well, the cheese forming a great crust on the inside of the taco. The meat was sweetly marinaded, flavorful and delicious. On top of it was a good amount of beans, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, making for a good sized taco without any overflowing. It was pretty damn tasty. So, our first trip out here had more highs than lows, resulting in a very positive initial dinner. I'm sure those beans were just a one-off, at least I hope they were. And there's still hope that the guac may have had too much lime or had been overly mixed this time around. A second trip is definitely in the cards, with more of the family to expand what comes to the table.

I'm a huge Wicked fan and was excited to see this event advertised on Yelp. This restaurant was the only one in North County I can think of that acknowledged the movie when it was about to be in theaters. First of all, it was easy to get to based on my GPS but kind of challenging to find their parking lot. I ended up finding a 2-hour parking on N. City Drive which was in walking distance. All I was thinking of while walking up to Draft Republic is that this place is massive. Inside, the hostesses verbally instructed me where to go...came across bowling...arcade games...sports on tvs on my way. Behind the curtains, I entered the room in awe. Draft Republic really went ALL OUT!! The Wicked witchy vibe was sooo magical. I loved the beautifuuul Elphaba/Glinda decorations, cleverly creative themed menu option names, actual movie playing in the background, and the take-home momentos. Nick and staff were super wickedly friendly too. The Wicked Bites, Grimmerie Shots and Wickedest Cocktails were all FANTASTIC!!! I definitely tasted Draft Republic's wickedness. I appreciated everything about this experience....well well done. What a WICKED TIME! I hope there are more speakeasy pop-ups in the near future :-)

I want to start by saying that for whatever my opinion matters (and it should matter very little),…read morethis is just how I came away feeling about this place. Because Draft Republic is a rough place to quantify. The food is pretty good; if going off that alone, this place would easily be four stars in my eyes. But, it's not ... Draft Republic is trying to be a bit closer to like a mini Dave & Buster's (a place I have come pretty close to loathing). With an arcade, a bowling alley, a golfing simulator, a full bar, pretty extensive menu, good music, and a fantastic staff, they really have a lot going for them with a little something to make anyone happy. My own issue deals solely with the cost. Came here with my son, all we did was eat two entrees and an appetizer between us, and did nothing else. With drink and after tax and tip, the cost was well over $90. No games, no play, just burgers (plus fries and poke tacos) for two, costs as much as many Californian's net after a full day of work. When you're used to feeding the whole family for about half as much when going out (or a little more when eating sushi), that price was a bit rough. Still, the food is very good. My son and I each ate The Draft Republic Burger. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, very flavorful, and the toppings were high quality. The fries were crisp and salted well. And the side salad wasn't too bad. Both of us ate our entrees and gave it high marks. We had started with the Tres Poke Tacos, where the Tuna was very tasty, steeped in a flavorful marinade, and felt nice and fresh. Definitely a good starter. And the restaurant itself is gorgeous. A lot of space, beautifully furnished, kind of industrial meets art deco with some new age greenery architecture thrown in. I like it a lot. But, as an aging Gen-X'er, who used to go to arcades back in the day, and hates what new arcades have become, the amenities are under appreciated by me. All of that pads the price tag a bit out of what I am willing to pay just for dinner. Which may not be fair to Draft Republic, but that's where it left me.

Inexplicably, my kids love beavers, and so when we were staying in Carlsbad for the night and looking for a place to eat, how could we not visit a place called Belching Beaver? We couldn't not! And so we did. It turns out, Belching Beaver is a very family-friendly brewery, with lots of arcade games, lawn games, and an extremely laid-back atmosphere. I wasn't going to get a beer, but then I saw that the brewery did a collaboration with the Deftones to create an IPA called Phantom Bride. I had to get a pint. Chino Moreno made me do it! It was citrusy and refreshing, and just the thing to enjoy while sitting on the outdoor picnic tables. Belching Beaver offers your average pub food. My kids got chicken tenders and fries, and mac and cheese with fries. I got a poke bowl, which sounds like a risky choice at a brewery, but it was actually really good and fresh! Not too saucy, either. We also got the carne asada 980 Nachos, which are huge and come on a baking sheet. Plenty enough to share! This place is tucked away in what looks like an office plaza.
