Great Beers + Great service. The guys that work here are very helpful and know what they have. Good prices and a huge selection of beers.

Fantastic selection of beers. The bartenders are engaging, know their craft, and are genuinely friendly. 5 thumbs up to Rafael and his crew!

Beer heaven! There's so many types of bear you can try, (Sour Beer, Breakfast beer which is coffee flavored, Cider beer, and the list goes on) read more

This is our new, favorite spot in the hood. We used to live near a beer bar of a similar nature in the East Village and we loved it. This is a beer store/bar with fun snacks, a great vibe and a happy hour. The staff is fun, friendly and knowledgable and taught us some much needed info about caring for our growler (that we were never previously told in our old spot in the East Village... and it was important info). They also usually keep a gluten free beer or cider on tap (just my luck it was empty) but that's more than most bars/restaurants. They also do a $2 corkage fee for any of the bottles so I could still indulge in a Greens with my boyfriend at the bar while he had a flight. We will def. be back soon and are looking forward to trying to wild boar they had on special. Note: It gets "busy" but they keep the music at a normal level (thank you!) so you can still hold a conversation with your friends. A++ in my book. read more

I love this place, they always rotate the beers on draft and the staff is always great. Steve and Casey always are so helpful. It's an oasis in Bushwick. read more

The Sampler has an expansive beer list that everyone will find something they like. I've stopped by a few times when 2belizegirls was cooking, most recently on a Thursday night, burger night, and ordered the burger named "Bellyful." Let me tell you that burger with guava jam and a side of honey glazed sweet potato fries definitely left my belly full! On Sundays, 2belizegirls have a seasonal menu of delicious authentic Belizean cuisines, including my favorite garnaches. The Sampler's chill atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and tasty beer and eats is a great place to hang for an evening. read more

Owner was incredibly friendly and the vibe of the place is pretty cool. Very good price and excellent service. Definitely give it a visit and chill. Has a great selection and growing. read more

Came in late afternoon on a Sunday and sat at the bar with 3 friends. We did flights of beer which the bartender helped create. They were playing old movies and had a great vibe. Perfect chill area to try new beers and catch up with friends read more

My BF is a beer lover, so when I saw the previous reviews, I knew we had to check this place out. It's a very low key place, with an industrial feeling & decor. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so the place was almost empty, but got a bit busier by the end of the afternoon. We order beer flights, and the bartender gave us a few recommendations based on our preferences. According to my personal beer aficionado, the beer selection is good (8/10), beer quality is ok (6/10). Bottom line: nothing fancy, but just what you need for a nice and relaxed Sunday afternoon. read more

This place is great! I always come at strange times, so it's often fairly slow. Never been here on a busier night. I would imagine it's crowded. The tap list is solid, but when I went the other day there was good variety of brewers but way too many IPAs. I had to start getting cans and bottles for variety of styles. I would have preferred draft. The bartender was very nice and helpful. She was a nice foil to the bar patrons, which except for me and my friend were a few dudes sitting alone in silence. read more

This place is excellent. A great selection of beers that offers local beers, some west coast and around the world. Excellent service. Immediate felt welcome and open to trying from their 18 different taps. There is comfortable, ample seating and WIFI is handy when needed. read more

Really excited to have this place in the neighborhood. Incredible selection of bottles, big variety on tap and really friendly and helpful people. They're knowledgeable and very generous with free taste test samples. Very pleasant place to grab a brew, can't wait to go back! read more

This place is awesome. We just moved to the neighborhood and walked over to get a growler to enjoy at home when to our surprise they were just about to start a free comedy show. So we stuck around for the show, has some beers and an overall great time, and the prices aren't bad at all. read more

I'm not a huge beer drinker, but I'm so glad I joined my friends after nearby brunch. A mind-boggling selection of cool beers to try, many with helpful tags on them for ignorant folks like me. Rafael was incredibly friendly and gave us lots of samples, including an awesome chocolate/habanero imperial stout that was so good, I bought my first ever growler. This was a really non-intimidating place to get an education and we'll definitely be back. Especially since it's close to home. Talking with Rafael, he's really into mezcal and said he might gets some spirits in here, too. read more

Favorite Bushwick bar. Hands down. The beer selection is unparalleled; the staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and unpretentious. You can taste any draught before ordering and the bartenders make excellent suggestions based on your tastes. If you feel like adventuring out from the world of craft beers, they have a killer whiskey/mezcal menu - all very fairly priced. The food is good, but the main attraction here is definitely the booze and the casual atmosphere. read more

Walked a mile to check it out and it wasn't open. Said right there on the hours that it should've been. No sign on the door or anything. Bummed me out, seemed like it would be a cool place to check out while I had some time to kill. read more

Great beer and even better people. The Sampler has easily become my local. The comfortable setting and excellent draft selection is unbeatable in the neighborhood. Everyone should stop in for a pint at some time. read more

Ever since hurricane sandy left me trapped in my apartment with my husband's six pack of left hand milk stout, I've been in love with beer. The Sampler has super interesting stuff on tap and an amazing selection of bottles. The manager is so welcoming and always has some insanely delicious sample for us to try. Not your typical bushwick bar. Non pretentious and I always feel more beer savvy when I leave. read more

This will sound weird but I don't even like beer - especially not fancy beer - so this place really isn't for me. But I was in there with some friends and the bartender was talking to them about beer and he was just so enthusiastic and friendly and not snobby at all as some might expect from a place like this that it made me wish I enjoyed beer. On other visits the other members of the staff as well as the owner have been very nice too, so kudos to the staff! read more

Love The Sampler - knowledgable bar keeps, tasty brews, fair prices (especially on their flights)

This place is cozy, relaxed, comfortable, but most of all they sport a higher quality selection of beers than just about anywhere I've been in NYC, let alone Bushwick. A real gem of a beer spot. The staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The prices were reasonable. There's really nothing bad I can say about this place. I was introduced to a number of local breweries I knew nothing about that turned out to be producing some great beer. If you like beer at all, you need to make it out here and at least get a sampler, like the name implies! read more

Their insanely large and awesome selection has been mentioned. What I think I love most about this place (and there's a lot to love) is that they could easily be pretentious...but are not. They know they have one of the best beet selections in NY and still act like a low key bar. They even have many great bottles of beer that are in the $2-3 bottle range that I don't find anywhere else. read more

I came here with a friend on 2/12/16 and my friend asked for a beer suggestion from the bartender; the bartender (a late 30's looking male with a super shitty attitude and a huge beer belly) responded with "do your eyes not work? There's a beer menu on the wall." We understood and read the menu just fine, but my friend was asking for a recommendation from the bartender since the staff should be knowledgable on the beers... Anyway; I promptly followed with my order of a Jameson and Water. The bartender then looked at me and said in a snarky manner "really? You come to a craft beer bar and order a whiskey?" I said; "sorry but that's what sounds good to me, and you clearly have it for a reason." The beer selection is nice, but so not worth dealing with such a rude, pretentious, douche-y bartender. I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere; this place isn't special enough to deal with such crass attitude. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

This place is top notch. Raphael and Joel are great all-around dudes, and they KNOW their beers. Ask them to sample, well, pretty much anything! I've been here at least 8 times in the last 3 weeks and every time I am greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. This is my favorite neighborhood joint and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy a night out in Brooklyn. read more

omg. how freaking cool is this place! it's a beer lover's and liker's and reticent-beer-drinker's dream! in addition to the bar, there's a wall-fridge full of awesome beers to purchase and take home or open and drink right inside. the opposite wall has rows and rows of beer, organized by brewery, in which you may also gawk and browse in wonder. at the bar, you can choose one of the many wonders or get the sampler flight ($8!) which includes four beers of your choosing. with so many rad, new options, the sampler (namesake, hello) is obviously the happiest choice. i chose the four stout options and holy hell was i pleased! and if you're having a hard time choosing, no worries, tastings and answers to questions flow freely and without pretension. the space is really comfortable and with the easy conversation and raphael dropping sweet sweet knowledge, it feels more like a casual cool kid's club than a store or bar or whatever. great for a first date or casual meeting or solo day-drinking extravaganza, this place is definitely unique. read more

great selection, bartender was really patient and informative, was not offered a sample though :/ Overall great place, check it out if you're in the area! also a really good venezuelan food place next door, you can order food from there and eat it at the bar read more

My favorite place for a good beer. The best rotating draft selection I've seen in New York, a massive bottle collection, and the bartenders are really friendly and helpful. It's a bit smaller and more casual than what you typically see in a bar, but that's what makes it perfect for just enjoying a great beer and chatting with friends, new and old. read more

You come to a "beer bar" in New York thinking they would know how to respect beers, right? My friends tell me that Other Half brewing is a must have so I order one. The bartender tells me that it's gonna take 5 minutes because the carbonation is off. I'm fine with that, I talk to my friends, ask them what they want. I walk to the end of the bar to order my friends their beers and see the bartender pour 3 separate pints, each with 8oz of head from the same tap. I order my friends their beers and he pours them, then goes back to the 3 foamy beers. He then spoons off the head, puts them into 1 pint, and tops it off with a spritz from the tap. He then hands me that beer...Yeah, I'm sure that Other Half brewing wants me to taste their beer that way...long story short, I wouldn't come here if you care about your beer, because obviously the bartender doesn't. read more

Good selection, nice enough folks, but if I can't get a growler filled for less than $20 I'm not coming back. I'd rather walk a little farther to Hops and Hocks where there's less price gouging. read more

My favorite beer bar in Brooklyn. The staff is very knowledgeable and seem to have tried pretty much every beer they carry, which considering the breadth of their selection, is saying a lot. Love getting their "samples" trays; recommend leaving it up to the bartender and letting him choose his favorites. I do this every time and always end up with a great array of beers to taste. A bit on the pricier side admittedly but you get what you pay for and it's delicious, quality beer. read more

Great Monday trivia, beer selection, and super friendly staff. Excellent neighborhood spot!

This place is awesome! So many great beers on draft and in bottles and the owners are super friendly, attentive, and will take the time to answer any questions. read more

Best people, best beer. Despite the quality of the beer, which is high and controlled by uniformly off-site brewers, the main reason I come here repeatedly is because of the staff. I can get good beers anywhere these days, but the people here, Steve, Casey, Sierra... No impersonal, service-industry blandness or upselling nonsense, only real opinions and earnest help. Bushwick is risking being overrun by the real estate mentality of suburbia and many of the upstart establishments in the hood are ushering in the customer-is-always-right, spineless shoveling of predictable pap into any mouth that will have it. the Sampler is in the business of putting people in touch with the unknown. Not replicating generic swill from anywhere. It takes attitude and strong opinions to forge a new culture of creativity and the staff here is up to the task and for real! If you want a shot of Jameson, there are many indistinguishable sportsbar dangerholes you can get that from... Come here to safely expand your horizons and make some excellent friends in the process. read more
