The beertopia. There's so much going on here it's not even funny. From monthly art shows from a bevy of Brooklyn artists to events to a pretty eclectic cut of brews it's hard not to go wrong here. They even have beer to go here and the fridge is full stick with some classic and some obscure ish. I give it a 5 for the selection, the ambience, the events, and all around experience it offers up. The Sampler is my go-to bar for beer in Bushwick. The bartenders are super helpful and willing to let you try any of their beers on tap before you order. They've given me really great recommendations based on what I like and I love that their taps change pretty frequently. My roommate and I bought a growler here the first time we visited and have used it several times since then. Most of the times I've been here it's really quiet but I do often go at off hours. I did stop by for one of their more publicized nights to try the famed Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout and it was fairly crowded with a DJ (the beer was amazing by the way). Typically it seems to be pretty easy to get a seat here and it's not too loud with background music. It's a great place to go with a few friends to try a variety of craft beers on tap but it is pricey. They also have a lot of bottled beers along the walls available for purchase. There's food here recently too, but I haven't tried it yet. If you're a craft beer enthusiast you'll love this place! read more

When I visit in the evening on Thursdays and Sundays, I can't help but get some Belizean food by 2 Belize Girls to go with my beer (I highly recommend their salbutes)! read more

Its truly impressive selection manages to include unusual bottles from Belgium, Denmark, and beyond, as well as offerings from some of America's trendiest breweries (Crooked Stave, Westbrook) and a dozen or so drafts with a heavy emphasis on local breweries (Kelso, Newburgh, Peekskill, etc). The place also has zero pretension, and Rafael and the other guys might offer you a free plate of chips, cheese, nuts, or other nibbles. Came here on a weekday around 5pm, just trying to kill some time. I was only expecting to stop in and see what selection they had but the owner wooed me in to try their beers. We sampled about 4 different types, he was very knowledgeable and attentive as he was trying to help me verbalize what types of beers I like to drink and what I should look for. We ended up sitting down to have a glass during their happy hour, which is a large pour for the price of a small. The Sampler is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. With over 200 kinds of bottled beer to chose from, the selection was pretty amazing. There are also rotation of 20 different drafts and flights are available if you are not sure what you like. Note they run 4 for 8 bucks. Not bad! There is also a limited menu. Had the mixed cheese and charcuterie plate, $20 not too bad. I will say the selection of cheese was pretty fantastic, the cured meat was forgettable but perhaps I am just a meat snob as I make my own at home. The crowd was all local and super talkative. People were happy to offer you some of their beer in exchange for a little conversation. Likely to become my new Friday night well. Keep up the good work gentelmen! read more

I went to the Sampler shortly after they opened earlier this year. At first I was very impressed! I live fairly closeby, so I was excited to have a real craft beer place within walking distance. The drafts were a bit pricey, but they often are at places specializing in craft beer and I am okay with that because it is a tradeoff for having a constantly changing and wonderful supply of fresh and delicious beer. I will say that these prices were even HIGHER than at other shops. However... before leaving I grabbed somethings to take with me. While I thought the draft prices were a bit high, I was really blown away by some of the bottle/can prices. I grabbed a 6 pack of the Westbrook Gose and was rung up for somewhere in the neighborhood of $26... Now, again, this is an expensive beer, but $26 for a 6 pack was crazy. That week I saw the same beer, in 6 packs, at Good Beer for about $8 less. All in all, I'd be there several times a week if the prices were more reasonable! read more

Good atmosphere (you're surrounded by beer, either on the shelves on one side or in the fridge on the other) and really friendly, welcoming staff. I wish I could have reviewed the beer, but the service was so bad we didn't stay. I came in to grab water, for our dog. We were planning to sit and grab drinks but the bartender at the time was so disgusted I asked for water he said. "This is a bar. We don't have water." I explained our pup needed the water on a hot day and he offered nothing. It seems to me that when your bar is empty and someone comes in who just needs water for a puppy the least you can do is be cordial if you're going to say no. Welcome to the neighborhood! Seriously. This is a very welcome addition to the hood. I've been in 3 times now in the 3 weeks that they've been open and each time has been unique and wonderful. Each time, the manager and bartender have been very attentive and helpful and are a wealth of knowledge on the unique beers that they carry (some of the beers I've never seen anywhere else!). I've stopped by a few times when 2belizegirls was cooking, most recently on a Thursday night, burger night, and ordered the burger named "Bellyful." Let me tell you that burger with guava jam and a side of honey glazed sweet potato fries definitely left my belly full! On Sundays, 2belizegirls have a seasonal menu of delicious authentic Belizean cuisines, including my favorite garnaches. My BF is a beer lover, so when I saw the previous reviews, I knew we had to check this place out. It's a very low key place, with an industrial feeling & decor. We went on a Sunday afternoon, so the place was almost empty, but got a bit busier by the end of the afternoon. We order beer flights, and the bartender gave us a few recommendations based on our preferences. According to my personal beer aficionado, the beer selection is good (8/10), beer quality is ok (6/10).
