Fish and chips with mushy peas- my favorite
    Susan C.

In town for business and decided to extend my stay and see a friend who flew over from London to visit. You only live once, and a stay at the Shelbourne is a must. The weather was a bit questionable so we decided to have lunch in the hotel and opted for the fish and chips with mushy peas. My favorite staple when I'm in London and I'll eat it in Dublin as well. The fish was nicely done, not greasy and the mushy peas were very, very good.

We ordered starters of Foie Gras royale. The sommelier was very friendly and attentive with good wine suggestions. We then ordered Chateaubriand for two. It includes two side order selections. It comes out with some additional included sides also. It is very delicious and cooked perfectly. It takes around 30 minutes for the dish to be prepared. It is served and sliced at the table. It is a lot of food so I would recommend not ordering a starter.

What a fabulous dining experience from start to finish! My husband and I stayed at the Shelbourne for one night at the end of our Ireland trip. We got a reservation at The Saddle Room last minute and it was the best choice we made! We selected the three course menu with raw oysters as well. I selected the mushroom soup, gnocchi and crème brûlée, while my husband selected the smoked salmon, steak, and chocolate cake. All the food was phenomenal, especially the mushroom soup and smoked salmon starters. The wait staff was polite, friendly and informative. We enjoyed the suggest wine pairing for our waiter and never felt rushed or like we were waiting for someone to come by. Highly suggest as a date night or special occasion spot!

Having treated ourselves to a night at The shelbourne hotel I decided to check out the menus in house. The only one that suits our price range and tastes was the saddleroom. Offering a 2 or 3 course deal for under €30 we booked for the last sitting on Sat past. Having traveled from Belfast, parked and walked we were running a little late. On entrance to the hotel you find the dining areas first. With signposts for each dining room highlighted well. Approaching the saddleroom we were greated by a host who we informed we had a booking and were slightly late. He checked his watch and grimaced however kindly showed us into our table and arranged for storage for our luggage as we had not yet checked in. Walking to our table I became suddenly aware that we were not as well dressed as the other diners and that the saddleroom bar was a little more fine dining than I had expected. The decor was plush, yet homely with little booth like, private dining areas mixed with the normal open plan seating. As you enter you pass an oyster bar although unused at this time it looked like a great place to entertain. Once seated on a great table by a window which the lovely waitress opened more for us - as we glowed a little from our trek to the hotel, we relaxed some. Until we saw the Cocktail and wine list; Cocktails start at €14 and bottle of wine €37. We ordered wine to share and one of us got a Tom Collins which was a little too bitter for my liking. My food options were Salmon gravlax and the lamb. Both were were excellent! Perfectly presented and great flavours, the jus with the lamb was the best I have had in a long time. The heat in the room was so intense that we all refrained from dessert or tea and coffee, deciding to have a Drink in the bar area instead. The service was very good, attentive, efficient and a mix of friendly politeness. I would go again for a special occasion and definitely not wearing jeans

My favorite meal in Dublin so far! Incredible, melt-in-your-mouth Chateaubriand steak. Full bar available, including special, Irish-themed cocktails. Quiet, fancy, yet comfortable atmosphere. And sincere, caring, humorous, patient, and knowledgeable service.

The service is top notch. Excellent service. The food is good but did not wow me. The best is the dessert. The atmosphere is very classy. It is a good place to celebrate special occasion

Breakfast buffet was top notch, a real pleasure. Very cool to take honey from the comb! The breakfast was so good we skipped lunch each day. I will miss the Saddle Room and my full Irish breakfast after vacation!

I love the Saddle Room! Classic old skool upscale perfect for Mom & Dad. The staff is professional and friendly and the food is on point. High recommendation, especially for Brunch and during the Holidays.

If I was going for a drink at the Shelbourne this wouldn't be my first choice. The largest and most populist of the Shelbourne's bars, to be honest, doesn't do anything for me. The atmosphere is kind of dead, the crowd are trying to be seen by one another a little too hard and it definitely doesn't warrant its heftily hiked up prices. If you're coming for an early afternoon drink with a visiting Granny then the Saddle Room is probably fine. It has good people watching position, overlooking the green, and is decorated with lots of Irish paintings. Three stars for The Saddle Room, there are better fancy bars very nearby.

Great place if you're looking to have a fancy meal. Its quite pricey but you definitely get value for your money here. The food is really good and the service is great. Definitely worth a visit.

They have started charging ridiculous prices and the quality of the food has gone way way down. We dropped into the Eddie Rocket's on Parnell st for an impromptu pig out. We ordered ad it took them about 35 minutes for them to finally bring the food. We could see my burger under the hot lamps for about 15 of those minutes The Jalapeno Popper at one point was the pinnacle of burgers in Ireland for me. Lots of peppers, cheese, sour cream on a lash of hot sauce. What I got this time was kind of a sloppy mess (see picture). Most of the jalapenos fell out the back of the burger. My girlfriend's veggie burger was really dry. She used to love these but she was left very disappointed. All in all Eddie's was once a fantastic burger spot. Here it's Eddie Rockets and there's nowhere quite like Parnell Street's burger joint for pre-movie munchies. It's pricey here in ways no establishment calling itself a diner should ever be - which is why Hubby Himself often pays - with two burgers, fries, onion rings, milkshake and diet coke (the lynchpin in weight gain) coming to about 30 yo-yos. ...For that money you could get a gorgeous Indian dinner form Bombay Pantry, fill the tank for a VW Lupo or buy a pre-worn hipster top from Urban Outfitters. Here, it's greasy spoon goodness. The service is prompt, the wait-staff efficient but quiet, and when your deep-fried side order isn't to your liking, they'll replace or refund without fighting (it really does happen in Ireland). And with a second entrance that leads out to the Cineworld complex and theatre it makes dinner and a movie easier than ever.

My girls got a Bacon Big Boy (hot dog with bacon and cheese) and the other a kids quesadilla meal. My husband got the smokestack burger combo and I opted for the tender basket with bacon and cheese on my fries. We also opted for a few milkshakes to share. I got a vanilla, my daughter got an Oreo and my hubby got a Rocher shake. (I will say the rocher shake was my favorite.) We were not able to eat everything as it was all so filling. My daughter asked if we could come back again tomorrow.

When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated in a booth. We ordered food a few minutes later. I got the chicken tender basket and a Ferrero Rocher shake, and my partner got the BLT basket and a Kinder Bueno shake. We also got the mac and cheese bites just to see how they were. The chicken tenders were hot but very small. The fries were alright but a little disappointing - something I experience in diners with some degree of frequency in the states, so I guess you could call this a point for accuracy? The BLT sliders were fine, nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese bites tasted like cafeteria mac that was battered and fried. Again, nothing special. The shakes were good but a bit watery - I like my shakes to be more creamy and thick. The food overall was lacking salt (and seasoning overall) and I saw other people putting salt and pepper all over their food too so I know it wasn't a me thing. The bathrooms weren't great. They were in the basement down a long hallway. They weren't very clean and the doors on the stalls were both broken and stuck on engaged, so you couldn't lock them and you couldn't tell if someone was in one without knocking. I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was in there and couldn't wait to get back out. The restaurant itself was an average level of cleanliness. The floors were dirty but it was a very rainy day so I could forgive that. The booths weren't in great condition - some had tears that originated from cracked vinyl. The staff seemed friendly enough but I did catch two of them talking about another table in another language. I didn't speak the language but they were blatantly looking at the table and pointing with their eyes. It made me feel a bit bad on behalf of that table - they were right behind us and hadn't done anything wrong. Overall this place is just alright. Hah! It does say 'Eat and go!' on their caps, but that is what I like to do anyway - no prob! The Clonakilty burger has beef, bacon, a fried egg, and even hash-browns! It is huge, but manageable - I ate every bite and licked my fingers! Most burgers with fried eggs are really messy, from the runny yolks - but this egg was cooked hard enough so that it didn't make a mess. Big improvement! The Cheesy Chicken burger was also good. The Bacon & Cheese Fries were decent; thick bacon bits were excellent, but the gooey cheeze-whiz style cheese lowered their delight-factor. Real grated cheese would've been much better. Tasty ice cream desserts, and fair prices, in a clean chrome diner. Restrooms downstairs were very clean. We liked it!
