The staff did a great job keeping things moving, and once we found a table, the service and food both came out quickly. The confusing part was that it was self-seating despite a line stretching outside the building. Having dozens of people wandering around hunting for tables felt pretty chaotic, and many people seemed frustrated by it. Even the staff seemed more stressed because of the chaos. Overall, the food was good and there were plenty of options. I'd definitely recommend adding a host during busy events. It would make the experience much smoother for everyone.

I met my friends here for dinner a couple weeks ago and the whole experience was really surprising,…read moretbh, but in a good way. One of my friends has been here with his co-workers a few times but I haven't been here before. (Maybe one time many many years ago that I don't remember....) We walk in on a Monday night and there were a few people there. It's a small place so I'm glad we were able to get a table. When we sat down, the bartender, (waitress as well), came right over and took our drink orders and eventually our food orders. I wanted to try their renowned broasted chicken. (A device essentially uses pressure cooking and light frying to create a thin crispy skin and juicy interior). The chicken was some of the best 'fried' chicken that I've ever had, seriously. Super crispy skin and juice inside. Reminds me a little of Korean fried chicken. The texas toast was yummy, the cole slaw was creamy (if you like creamy slaw), and the crispy tots were crispy delicious. My friend got a broasted chicken sammich and he loved it too. (High praise coming from him.) My friends and I have been wanting to go back and get more broasted chicken since we left. On Fridays, they have a 4 piece special for $13.99 that I'll have to take advantage of soon. All in all, this little bar/restaurant has some amazing food that I just didn't expect after driving and running past it for years. Can't wait to go back.

I just so happened to see a post on OFL about their upcoming special for roast pork, dumplings, and…read moresauerkraut and made an impulsive decision to have lunch here. Back story...I'm Vietnamese but I have come to LOVE this Czech dish due to my husband's family making it one a year on Thanksgiving instead of the normal line up. I could probably eat this every day...ehh, maybe once a week. And because it's such a niche dish and not commonly available, I will seek it out if it turns up. Such was the case here. I've never heard of Donohue's prior to this nor am I entirely familiar with all the great places in South Omaha. The building was unassuming and a bit darker lit, but you could tell it was a place where "regulars" hang- as evidenced by the waitress asking us if we needed menus (we did). The plate came within 5 minutes of ordering and it took about the same amount of time for me to devour it. The dumplings were delicious and the pork was some of the most tender, flavorful I have ever had. I think the gravy could have use a tad more salt (and I never add extra salt to anything) and I would've like the sauerkraut to be a bit more tart, but I understand that's a personal preference. The price was fair- I think maybe $11.99?, but I wouldn't have minded paying a little more to get a little more. Excited to come back next month when they have this special again!

The side of bacon scared me at first bc of the price but it's FULLY worth it. We got a huge plate of bacon and it was cooked perfectly. The side hash brown cake thing was also amazing - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside - incredibly unique in the execution and amazing. The espresso martini affogato improves on the original martini since I like some cream in mine. Make sure to plan some time for bunch though. It was about 2 hours before we got out of there (partially bc we ordered a little staggered) but we did have a nice long wait to get any drinks or food. Vibes and music were incredible as always.
