    Go Big Red!

Simple food menu, clear beer menu, clean and functional space with nearby parking - there's a lot to like about this bierhall from Kinkaider. Food: three sausage options, and 2 sizes of pretzels. There is nothing confusing here. All five items were deemed both tasty and worth repeating by our group of six. Beer: Eight from Kinkaider and eight from others on draft; plus seltzers and bottles. Flights of four beers are $10. The space: includes an area that can be sectioned/walled off as a party room if needed. We were pleased to discover this option in the haymarket, and will return.

Fun new German themed bar in the Haymarket created by the Kinkaider folks. They have a number of authentic German beers on tap.Recently I've had their festbier and dunkel, and both were excellent. The food menu is limited, but good. I've had a couple pretzels and loved them. Some friends of mine are visiting from out of town soon, and I'm going to bring them here. Great spot!

Several beer selections. Not a lot for food. But the beer and food goes together well. We had a pretzel to begin with cheese sauce and mustard. Then we ordered the best wurst and the garlic wurst. They came with chips. The garlic wurst was our favorite. Open a tab at the checkout and pay at the end. Nice place and we would go back.

A must get item - get the large one, you won't regret it

I can't stop thinking about that gigantic pretzel!! This was maybe the best pretzel and cheese of my life. It was so soft and buttery, I'm salivating just thinking about it. Oh and the beers are delicious too.. Come hungry, get the big pretzel with cheese, knock some of the salt off - the roof of your mouth will thank you. I split this with my husband but you could maybe share with a 3rd person.. maybe.

They even HAVE MINI FLIGHTS !!! Great for people who don't drink beer but still want to drink beer

It's nice to have a real German beer hall atmosphere, this place does a great job with the table settings, steins, and menu! The food is really good; the pretzel and bratwurst was delicious and the portions were good for two people! My husband and friends enjoy coming here often they love the dunkels & others. It's also a great place if you're not a beer drinker; gluhwein, vodka and other drinks are available! Big tvs on every wall for sports fan and they have a unique beer stein shelf for frequents/members! We have come here a few times since they open and every time the service was 20/10 it's so consistent and I'm just impressed with how they have everything handled! Such a fun place, the staff are incredibly helpful and always so patient with customers, best customer service in the haymarket! Highly recommend coming here!

I stopped in on a Monday while wandering around the Hay Market. I popped in for lunch, unsure of the hours based on what I saw online, but they were open. I was greeted at the door by the bartender. He was very friendly and helpful. I sat at the bar and had food and drinks. I tried their in-house brewed marzen and the blackberry saison. Both were very good, the marzen being my favorite. For food, I had the cheddar bratwurst and a pretzel. I ordered the larger pretzel, not realizing portion sizes. Both the bratwurst and pretzel were excellent. If you get the large pretzel, just know it could be shared with 3-4 people. The overall vibe here is relaxed. I'd imagine on game days, this would be a good spot to watch the game or pre-game it. I don't make it to Lincoln often but on my next visit, I'll definitely stop in.

If your travels bring you to Lincoln and the Haymarket, a stop at the Bierhaus is a must. Service was friendly, Faith, welcomed us and gave me a taster of two beers so I could pic my fav. Got a Dunkel that did not disappoint and their almost famous pretzel.

Nice place in the haymarket for beer and the best pretzels!! They're warm and soft and go perfect with the cheese/mustard it comes with. The German sausage was OK and kinda dry but may have to try a different one next time. Good selection of beer and drink options. Location and ambience is A+. Great for groups with larger table settings and open seating.

We grabbed dinner here on Sunday night and we will definitely come back The menu isn't very large. They don't have a ton of fancy cocktails or food options (just brats, chips, and pretzels)... but what they do serve is delicious. The beer selections is good, and the brats are HUGE. These could be split between two people (unless you're really hungry) There was plenty of seating when we first arrived. You order at the counter and they bring your food right to the table. Our food and drinks were served quickly. We were there when the Husker game ended, and it got really crowded in there really quickly, so it did take a while to close our tab since we had to wait in a long line to cash out at the register - but I feel like that is a risk you take at any bar/restaurant you visit downtown during a husker game.

The Fox Hefeweizen is a solid choice!

After traveling to Germany, I can tell you that this is authentic with a touch of local. The seating, style and ambiance are a nice change-of-pace for Lincoln. Enjoyed the beer and a pretzel. Nice spot for conversation, will be back.

The sausage I had (The Best of the Wurst) was absolutely delicious. I do recommend. Nice to see German imports on tap and available in liters. Overall I had a good experience.

We ordered desserts at the end and made sure we were apart of the rewards to make sure we could get a free dessert! We got the Brownie and cookie dough cheesecake to-go. The brownie was to die for so soft and moist even after 10 minutes of sitting. We haven't tried the cheesecake yet we were so full, but it looks insanely good. The Rueben was great, my boyfriend ordered it his only complaint was the sauce was a little more on the oilier side and had more of a vinegary taste than what we prefer. The sandwich was so good, I was worried about it being too much pickle, honestly wish it had more of a pickle taste to be honest. I think what would make it even better is if the chicken was fried rather than grilled. We overall had a great experience!

I decided to try a classic Reuben while in Lincoln (when in Rome). It was so delicious. The sandwich appeared to be thin n the photos so I ordered double meat. I also subbed out loaded cosmik fries. The fries were very spicy but tasty. In addition, I ordered a bowl of chili. The description and photo included cheese, chips and sour cream. When it arrived it was just chili. It was delicious even without the missing items. Because the order was not completed correctly, I can't give a 5 star for service. I have no comment about the atmosphere at the restaurant as I was involved in takeout.

She immediately apologized several times with genuine care and concern. Instead of accepting the apology or simply walking away, the woman responded harshly, telling my sister to "get out of my face." That interaction alone left my sister feeling deeply uncomfortable and targeted. Feeling shaken and outnumbered, she called me and our other sisters for support. When we arrived to understand what had happened, we were calm and simply trying to get the full story. That's when things took a turn for the worse. The woman's boyfriend looked right at one of the workers and said, "get these f***ers out of here." Moments later, an employee named William Wilson grabbed my arm so aggressively that he left a bruise. He physically pushed us out--me, my sisters, and even some of our friends and coworkers who had nothing to do with the incident. Eleven of us were thrown out without anyone asking for our side of the story. Meanwhile, the woman and her group, who were loud, aggressive, and clearly at the center of the confrontation, were allowed to stay. They continued drinking, playing games, and enjoying their night like nothing had happened. It's hard not to see the racial bias in how everything was handled. We were treated like a problem, not like people. We weren't heard, we weren't respected, and we were physically harmed and humiliated just for standing up for our sister and trying to understand what was going on.

I'm going to agree with many of the reviews regarding service. They have a serious server issue. I'm not sure why they are so short staffed. They are right next to a university so they should be able to hire plenty of servers but the night we came in for drinks, only 1 server and the bartenders and a manager were running around trying to take care of the customers. Even so, several customers including us had to go to the bar for service. Customers were not happy. We sat at a table adjacent to the bar so we could watch the NHL draft. The bar was packed both inside and out. The bar is very nice with large TV's and plenty of nice table seating inside and out. With all the service issues being said, the bartender did take very good care of us and even though the wrong drinks were delivered, she comped them and made us new drinks which were delicious. The bartender constantly checked on us and we never saw the server except when she delivered the chips & dip we ordered. I'm going to give The Barred Owl 3 stars because it is a beautiful restaurant with a great outdoor patio. The bartender's were working their tails off to service the crowd and our drinks were good.m I can't comment in the food since we just had a snack. Management has a serious problem to work through regarding staffing and service but if they can fix that it should be a great spot.
