Irish Coddle
Lesley M.

This place was delicious! The Guinness onion dip threw me off a little being cold, but dipping the kettle chips with it was on point. I usually don't go with sausage entrées that much, but after reading about the Irish coddle, I had to try it. I loved everything about that dish, and would order it again. I really wanted to try the shepherds pie, but I do not like lamb personally. I tried a bite of my husband's bangers and mash that was delicious too. I don't think there's really anything that you won't like there, and to make the perfect meal order a nice Guinness draft.

Bangers and Mash

We chose this restaurant because we had never tried their food, and because we had the Nebraska Beer & Wine Passport coupon to use. Our server was very friendly and gave some great options for food because I had never had bangers and mash before. I'm not a huge potato person really, but the Guinness gravy kicked up the potatoes a notch. The sausage was very flavorful as well. I'm going to try the shepherds pie with lamb next time, but I highly recommend the bangers and mash.

one of my favorite places in the haymarket! came here with my husband to watch the CWS game. plenty of TVs and a good mix of food on the menus!! for food i got the corona fish tacos which has a good flavor alongside their kettle cooked chips :) my husband got the pulled pork sandwich, which he deeply enjoyed! for drinks, their moscow mule is always a hit! they also have a good spread of beers and other cocktails you can order. they do have mango cart from goldenrod brewery which is one of my faves! this place as a whole though is so fun! good vibe for a sports bar or just to catch up with people. the service was great with always asking if we want another drink or order anymore food. a great feature of this place too is the whole front is a garage door style so the entire place can be opened up to the downtown haymarket :) overall another great experience :)

I took a day out of my travels to hang out in Lincoln and while walking around I came across this cool Irish pub. It was lunch time and the menu looked promising so I walked in. I was greeted by the friendly staff and started perusing the menu. The Shepards pie caught my eye and boy am I glad it did. Best. Shepards. Pie. Ever. They make it lamb and it's delicious. Great drink menu too and a cool place to just hang out.

Seems to be a place for regulars. Looks a little dated but clean- the chairs looked like they were from the 1980s- regular diner type chairs. You can play keno here. They also have arcade games and overhead TVs. Variety of seating- long tables, some tables for 6 and bar seating. Basically you sit yourself. And the waitress comes around with the menu. She asked about drinks immediately like a second after passing you the menu. Then brings the drinks promptly. And you wait for some time- she doesn't come back around till you wave her over. We both ordered a blue moon beer for drinks. Nice and cold and refreshing. Hubs ordered a cowboy burger with onion rings. I ordered fish and chips. Food took awhile to come. But when it came it was piping hot. I didn't take a pic of hubby's burger. I only took a picture of my fish and chips. It looked more like fish nuggets and chips. It came with coleslaw and you can request for the type of fries ie wedge, waffle, shoestring. My fish nuggets were delicious hot and flakes. Waffle fries were hot. And the coleslaw was delicious. Hubby thought his food was not bad. Fresh and hot. After the food came, our server checked on us a couple of times. His second beer took forever to come. We were about to just pay the bill and take off when it came. Overall, a decent experience. Still couldn't figure out why it was called an Irish bar though. They do have a countdown clock to st Patrick's day.

However, he does care about creating one of the most authentic community experiences you can have in downtown Lincoln. O'Rourke's delivers that in spades. The staff is as genuine as they can be. Their purpose is the perpetuate the "melting pot" experience the best they can. They have full permission to to call a "dick" a DICK...skip your jukebox play or make you one of their best friends. Whatever is bothering you....leave it at the door..."crazy" is already on tap there. So....if you are a certain person who demands a sense of decorum and etiquette, a couple of doors down is a miserable person giving you the standard template responses (Yes, sir- Some weather we are having huh- can I get anything else for yah)....go there are say hi to Karen. But if you are looking for a place where making your way in the world today takes everything you got...where taking a break from all of your worries sure would help alot...then the bar you wanna go O'Rourke's is the name. Pour some on the floor for BONES. :) Cheers

Our server was incredibly personable, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn at the end of our visit. The manager came over to help clear plates from the table and ended up spilling au jus all over my shoes, including a pair of limited-edition shoes that I take great pride in. He returned with a towel and club soda and essentially told me to clean them when I got home. After that, he never returned to check on the situation or offer any additional assistance. To her credit, our server was apologetic and went out of her way to make things right by removing several items from our bill. She handled the situation with the professionalism and customer service I would expect. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I understand that accidents happen. What matters most is how you respond when they do. I cannot imagine having someone represent my business who handles a situation like this so poorly. The server and food deserve five stars, but the manager's lack of accountability and follow-through significantly impacted our experience.

We made a reservation for 5 PM when they opened on a Friday night. My first good impression of this restaurant was their well dressed and mannered staff. The hostesses and servers were ready for us! The coat rack up front is a nice touch too. We were seated next to the window with a beautiful snowy view of downtown Lincoln. Our server was so sweet and made sure we had a wonderful first dining experience. All of the food was fantastic. Our favorite dishes were the parsnip soup and blood orange toast. I think their menu changes monthly because it was printed. The drinks were okay. I got a non alcoholic cucumber "martini". My husband got a Moscow mule, but it was too tart for his taste. If we ordered drinks again in the future, we would try something else. Other than that, I highly recommend this spot! Thank you chefs for the amazing food and staff for a memorable dinner.
