I have to think about if and when we would return. The event was a birthday party for a family member. The service was slow (not a deal breaker) and poor. We had 2 handicap people with us that experienced the worse service. One in a wheelchair (how could she be missed) at the head of the table couldn't get anyone to take her order. Our waitress was slow in coming around, so we asked 3!other waitstaff and finally a manager. The other has down syndrome and is diabetic. We had to ask four or five times for a coke! Made a stop in Houston for work and decided to see what was around the hotel I was staying at. I'm always down for a place with live music and their own beer so that led here. Large place with plenty of room for a seat at the bar or open seating closer to the main stage. The staff at the bar was delightful and very attentive the whole time. I ordered the Rustic Lager and went big with the triple bone in pork special. The beer came in a frosted glass and was a delicious Amber lager. This is my second visit to The Rustic in downtown Houston. (My first visit was for live music and drinks and this spacious venue/restaurant is awesome for both.) Our party of eight visited on a quiet weeknight just after the holiday season for dinner. We all ordered a different entree (from salads to burgers to pork chops to sandwiches), and everyone was very happy with their choices. Two couples ordered the smoked dip duo, and after the first one was delivered, I knew to grab a quick video of the second. The homemade chips were amazing as was the queso and pimento cheese spread, which I sampled. I appreciated that the smoked essence struck a nice balance in that it wasn't overpowering in the taste of the food. Overall, it was a great evening out with friends! The restaurant did not seem to have any on-site parking but they do offer valet parking. If you prefer self-parking, there is a large and well-lit garage behind the restaurant and the first three hours are free if you get your ticket validated at The Rustic. read more

The Rustic is such a vibrant, fun place to hang out and listen to live music while eating! I really enjoyed how spacious and grandiose it all felt. When we walked in, there was a guitarist on stage playing/singing while we were being seated and we were also greeted by our server very quickly! The food was pretty good, the only thing I wasn't too keen on was going for brunch, our server informed us you can ONLY order the brunch prefix menu and that wasn't necessarily what I wanted to order when having other menu options in front of me. While it was pretty tasty, I was sad I didn't have options to order the other items I was eyeing. Also, the live music is great, but loud! So, make sure you get close enough to your server or you won't be able to hear! All-in-all I think this is a more of a fun hangout spot than anything else. I really like this location so much more than the Post Oak one. Service has been great and loved the Bloody Marys and brunch on Sunday. Food and drinks are always so good! If you get there early on Sunday for an Astros game, you can find street parking for free and it's just a short walk to the stadium. Gave Rustic a try last night. It was a very neat place with a dance hall type feel. I had the Quail and it was great. Had a nice grilled flavor with some hints of BbQ sauce. Also, tried the devil eggs, they were good just needed a little relish. The live Band covered a variety of music and sounded good. Servers were friendly and helpful. The only complaints would be the live music could come down in volume a touch. Service was a little slow, and it was a little chilly. Holy cow! Okay so we went to the Galleria one a while back and was sorely disappointed, BUT we decided to try this location out after talking to others. We went for Saturday lunch/brunch around 11am. It wasn't too busy but they had a guitarist and singer down on the stage - the place was about 40% capacity or so. At first we were super confused about the menu - it had a brunch option with 10 different option on it saying that it was 17.95 per person. Turns out yeah... you got like 10 different medium sized portions of each item all for 17.95. Great deal! Plus it was absurdly delicious. Our party of 4 was seated immediately on Sat night at 6:15 in chairs with backs (for our friend with back issues). The live music stopped a few minutes later which we were grateful for so we could chat over dinner. We ordered Tiki wheat beer ($9.95). The Shiner light blonde draft ($6.95) was also good. There are no prices on a lot of the drinks section of the menu so I would have ordered something else had I know it was going to be a $10 beer. The deviled eggs ($10.95 for 5 halves) were delicious as was the cup of tortilla soup ($5.95) which was nicely spicy and loaded with avocado and tortilla strips. We shared a Texas Cheese steak sandwich ($17.95) which was stacked high but appeared to be half a sandwich on the plate. It had good flavor with tiny ground pieces of beef and cheesy sauce. We ordered fries on two plates and they arrived cold. There was a $2 up charge for the fries which was not on the menu. The smoky potato chips -the standard offering with sandwiches- were over cooked and not smoky. The Rustic burger ($18.45) had a burger, green chili sauce and two little strips of brisket so could have used more brisket but good flavor. The wood smoked portobello mushroom side ($7.25) was smaller than I expected and cooked with a vinaigrette but I wouldn't order it again . Our waitress, Ashley, was lovely and did a great job explaining menu items when we asked. Service was a bit slow as it took 35 min for the mains to be served after ordering (which is perhaps why the fries were cold). The table next to us was seated after, were served and left before we got our main course. So we enjoyed the food but not sure I'd visit this place again as the little things added up to a less than stellar experience. read more

To me this place it average. The music was way to load, service was decent. Meatballs had a really good flavor, I'd prefer less jam/jelly on them to bring out the meatball flavor. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich needed more meat. The cheese factor was definitely there but it made the bread very soggy. Mac & cheese was it very very good, the breadcrumbs on top or a nice touch The avocado and shrimp salad was probably one of the worst salads I've ever had. The shrimp was very fishy tasting no flavor it tasted like they just boiled it in water. There were only three tiny slices of avocado and it was loaded with tomatoes. I came here to see a local band play with my cousins and friends. My cousin is friends with the Powell Brothers and they had the night showing. I'd go with the valet parking since it's the easiest option. The space is big with indoor and outdoor options. Love the high ceilings and wood and lack for a better word "rustic" vibes here. Service was great, our waiter checked up on us often and we were well taken care of (didn't feel abandoned which is easy at a bar venue). I got the margarita that came with a mango tajin popsicle. We went here with some friends. We heard about the brunch so wanted to try. First, I ordered the Peach Bellini which was a prominent item on the brunch menu. Waitress came back and said they didn't have anymore Bellini. Like WTH? It was pretty early so really no excuse. The food came out. It was a family-style situation so they brought out enough for 7 people to have 2 bites of about 5 different things. The Migas were the only good thing IMO. Chicken was ok. Seemed like it had been sitting for a while. Totally not worth 19.99. I ordered a mojito since they blew it on the Bellini and it was bland. No muddled mint. Mediocre at best. Definitely a mistake to order the brunch towards the end(goes until 3pm and we ordered at 2:30 or so.l), the food took a good 30 minutes to come and was extremely rich-flavor was good but cold. The server disappeared for the majority of our meal and we had to flag others down. We also got seated in front of a farm style storage door so we had people walking around our table the entire time we ate. I am just truly a fan of the rustic. It definitely evokes nostalgia for my College Station days. This location is massive in comparison to the uptown location, from what I remember. It is also super cute. It's both indoors and outdoors. When you walk in, it starts indoors and then the further you walk towards the stage, you will see the outdoor portion. They play live music here, generally, county music with talented individuals. The food. Everyone was happy with their meals. I had the rustic burger. I came in with the desire for a "regular" burger, and this right here exceeded my expectations in every regard. It was soooo goodt! So we stopped in for some late nighties. It's a really decent spot, but it's typical bar food. Nothing amazing. But the environment itself is what's makes it so cool. Does it inside and outside area, there's a stage area, and it's plenty of space for everything you need. The setup kind of like a lunchroom lol, the way the table I set up, but you could fit a lot of parties in on those nice nice and you're trying to be out, you'll have a place to go that you can still be outside but still have a controlled area. The outside is sand and gravel, but as plenty of tables and it since then so you can be there and be comfortable but people can't actually see you from the outside so that's good. If you come inside, they have fans and they have air conditioner so you basically can have best of both worlds. The bar itself is very spacious, and when I was there everybody was super nice and friendly. The waitress accidentally through a top in my direction, and ended up getting me a refill on a drink, just because she felt bad. Didn't ask any questions didn't have any fuss, just a super nice. Everybody was nice. Messing other people with the bar, shop it up with them, had a great time! Made some new friends. I would definitely recommend. I didn't actually eat, cuz it was the end of the night, but I did have an old fashioned and you know fashion came out really good. These Woodford for it and they came out strong!
