This is a great place to stop and eat. A little off the highway but we'll with it. The food is delicious. The portions were large enough you left full to bursting. We had our service dogs and their patio was comfy and the staff didn't sit you out there and forget you. So I would sum it up by saying dog friendly, lots of great food at reasonable prices, and friendly attentive staff. What more can you ask for when you're on the road. read more

Not a good day today at The Roadkill. Short on staff and patience, we were sat but chose to depart. This is our third visit to Roadkill and we have had two other great experiences here. The food and service were superb, but today 6/10/17 was not the case. The diners with beverages and no food with stressed looks on their faces said it all, as well as the profanity laced exchange between the kitchen staff and front of house staff...we will be back when things get back in order. 3 stars because we love the location and know things will get better. read more

If you find yourself in Seligman, AZ then this is a good food choice. Seligman doesn't have many food options and you don't have too many reasons to be in Seligman (it's not even an incorporated city/town/village...it was just created by the census) unless you're on your way too/from the grand canyon. But this place is actually pretty bomb. It's decorated with lots of big game. It has a very cabinny feel and has a bunch of Route 66 souvenirs. I got the roasted half chicken (the name of the dish escapes me. All dishes have a roadkill kind of name) and it was actually delicious. Lots of flavor. Loved it. All dishes come with two sides. I got pork beans (good) and salad. The salad was created by the waitress from the salad bar. The salad bar on it's own was $4 something. Kind of pointless. My main gripe was that the ice for the drinks was scooped by hand out of an ice chest. Kinda gross. The prices were good and so was the service. This is a good but random spot. read more

Had to stop here on our way back from the Grand Canyon.. We were told this town was the inspiration for the movie Cars.. So drove by, and really desolate little town. Stopped at this joint because the name stuck out. Walked in and was great right away. The place was very clean. Kitchen clean as well as the restrooms. Food, I had a buffalo burger with home fries. Burger itself was actually pretty good. I ordered it with bacon, but she forgot to bring it till the end. I tried it with, but was better without the bacon. The desserts looked really good. Not sure why everyone is raving about this place. The food is average at most, but they do have a witty decor inside and outside of their restaurant. I ordered the turkey club and had a split pea soup. Boyfriend ordered their french dip and side salad. The salad is your standard iceberg salad with the regular fixins. Turkey club sandwich is huge! It probably can feed two persons really. I suppose everyone gives this place good marks because they may be traveling on the road for a long time and looking for a place that is non fast food to stop in. Very fun place to stop en route to Grand Canyon. What I'm so surprised about is none of the other yelpers reveiwing this place mentioned that Seligman is the inspiration for the "Cars" movies. How can they neglect to mention that? Stopped here because I had seen the Road Kill Cafe on an episode of CBS Sunday Morning a million years ago, but was delighted motoring into the town to realize we were now an animated character in the Pixar movie. The campground on the outskirts of town, viewing the interstate cars moving along in the distance, the tire store/vintage looking Texaco sign, the diner, and a fun novely store of two that had "Mater" the two truck, the police car, and the fire truck are all there waiting for you. Adorable! The town is the birthplace of Route 66, or so they claim, so I guess it makes sense. The diner itself is fun, has a crazy tourist-y western town in the parking lot along with various animal sculptures and other funky stuff. Inside, lots of "dead heads" and fun camoflague or Route 66 souvenirs. And the food's not bad, either. We weren't really super hungry, so I just had a bagel and a bottled root beer. Hubby had pancakes that were good, and bacon that was great. The place is obviously family owned, and obviously a lot of family work there, so double bonus in my book. If you are near, you absolutely must venture off the interstate for a bit and visit, especially if you are driving a rental convertible sports car like we were! read more

We chose to drive a section of Route 66 as we were heading on a road trip from Nevada to Arizona to Colorado. The Roadkill Cafe sounded and looked perfect for the tone of our trip. The menu is so much fun! The decor was just perfect. Mounted and taxidermy animals. It was a blast. Except the service was soooo slow. The Buffalo burger was delicious but not worth waiting for. A quick lunch took more than an hour. I don't really know how much longer but it seems like it was closer to two. We had been around the shop twice. During my cross country move from the West Coast, I came across the Roadkill Cafe. And while I wish there were more exotic/roadkill/out of the ordinary menu items, the food didn't disappoint. I ordered the BBQ riblet dinner, which comes with 2 sides, so I doubled up on the fruit. Ate the food on the road while driving and was very impressed. Also, a special shout out to my server Haly! A true old Route 66 roadhouse cafe. Sitting on the original route 66 in Seligman (the main drag through this tiny town) this cool old school cafe offers some pretty decent food, when your out in the middle of nowhere on the I-40 old route 66 in the desert. This is not 4 or 5 star dining, and going in expecting anything other than a roadhouse cafe type of experience is asking to much. What it is - is a clean, no frills place. Wooden tables and chairs, with old style bottle condiments on the table (always clean and filled) and paper napkins. It is also, a decent basic greasy spoon cafe where good breakfasts, burgers and blue plates are the norm. Always good and friendly service, always clean and always a decent place to grab some hot food. I've stopped in and eaten here well over a dozen times over the past two plus decades, traveling across the high desert. The Road Kill cafe has always been a good stop for some good basic food. Nothing special, but then again, when you are out in the middle of nowhere - sometimes just a good old burger and fries is all you need. Worth the stop, take the time and pull off when you are in the area, and in need of food and looking for a decent place to grab something to eat. Ate here with a friend. We ended up being seated in the bar area, which I wasn't real sure about, but it worked out well. Wasn't overly noisy except for when the staff would come up to the bar and talk with the bartender. I had a regular hamburger and fries and my buddy had the buffalo burger with fries plus the GC tap beer. He said everything was quite good and I can report the same about my food. We were both full when we left. Food arrived in a timely manner and the bartender checked on us periodically. The only truly negative point occurred at the end when some guy, who looked like he'd come in from the bottom of the ocean, was permitted to not only bring in his pet dog (also not the nicest looking), but also seat him on a stool! The reason I am giving this restaurant a 3/5 is the service. Service and wait times can truly affect the enjoyment of a meal. We waited with another family to be seated, finally they asked to seat themselves and so did we. We had a nice young man serve us but he seemed overwhelmed and there was so much waiting. We waited 10 minutes for water, and close to 45 for food. The food was good for a "roadside" stop. There is an area called a "museum" with stuffed animal heads. The ambiance is very casual and it wasn't busy when we first went in, but it picked up. I suppose if you don't mind waiting, and you have time to relax a while, this restaurant is a good stop. But since we wanted to stop for a quick bite to eat and back on the road, the service put a damper on our evening. read more

Very enjoyable meal. Two of us had the $20 steals for lunch - they were perfectly cooked and very well sized. The mashed potatoes and gravy served were excellent Another of us had the mystery meat. This was turkey over lightly toasted bread covered with gravy served with mashed potatoes. Yummy!!!! Our last person had the pan fried trout - simply delicious. This place is awesome if you like weird stuff. They have fun with the names of the food and the decor consists of stuffed dead animals and old country time pictures. They sell Roadkill memorabilia: t-shirts, sweaters and other random stuff. The food is great. I had the BEST hot dog EVER. I know it's just a hot dog but you'd understand if you had one. Completely satisfied with our meal and service on a Friday late afternoon/evening. I ordered the BBQ riblets (1 lb.) and my husband ordered the chili size, which was huge! He ate every bite, so it must have been as tasty as he said it was. The bowl of french fries was also large and were made fresh in the kitchen from large potatoes! The riblets were very tasty and I had to take about 1/2 home with me. The waitress was attentive and got our order correct, exactly how we requested it. There were more burgers on their separate burger menu than I ever expected. The menu itself is quite amusing! They even sell new ones in their gift shop for (currently) $14.99+ tax. In order to achieve the combination of tough, dry chicken with rock hard skin, I can only assume that the chicken was cooked several days ago and is deep fried on ordering.
