It's been a huge challenge finding a organization that utilizes positive force-free training. There are so many aspects that I love about the staff at Althea Canines! They are compassionate, knowledgeable, and very accessible to their students and pups. Both the staff and canine trainer- Christopher Hayes welcome new students with open arms. I love that Christopher makes training enjoyable and fun! He has a big heart and helps us students feel supported and takes the time to make sure we understand what our pets are trying to communicate so we can have a strong and respectful bond with our animals. Because of PTSD, I often struggle with anxiety, thus making it difficult to concentrate and absorb the material. Chris and the staff make sure that students are comfortable and always open to two-way communication. I can't say enough great things about Althea Canines! There is an array of training program options available depending on student needs, which is quite rare in nonprofit organizations. These folks are absolutely committed and so giving of their time and energy. I feel so blessed to have a training site and trainers that I can keep coming back to for support and education for both me and my service dog, Dawson.

I sent my dog, Milot 4.5 months, to Powerhouse K9 for a three-week board-and-train program. As a…read morenew dog owner, I'll admit the process felt a bit unconventional, and I decided to wait a few days after she returned home to write this review so I could evaluate the results objectively. Now that we are home, I am incredibly pleased with the outcome. Milot's behavior has shifted significantly for the better. Anthony spent two hours with me during pickup to ensure I understood the commands and techniques he used, and by implementing those daily, I've seen a massive difference in our routine. While the 'behind-the-scenes' of intensive training can feel a bit like a black box for a first-time owner, the results speak for themselves. If you are looking for a program that delivers a noticeable transformation, it is well worth the investment. I'm very happy with Milot's progress! Other things to note - Anthony was very responsive. Sent videos of progress and video chats as well - clean/brushed/bathe at least once before pickup - flexible with drop off and pickup Happy with the result. Highly recommend.

They let me know he wouldn't be able to stay unless he received professional training. With only two weeks before our trip, I reached out to PowerHouseK9. Anthony took him in for a week and made an incredible difference. He taught our dog to heel, walk calmly, and stop pulling on the leash. The improvement was obvious the moment we picked him up. Anthony is knowledgeable, patient, and clearly skilled at working with strong, high‑energy dogs. I'm extremely grateful for the results and highly recommend PowerHouseK9 to anyone looking for effective, professional dog training.
