This place has been on my list for a while and decided to pick some up on the way home. It absolutely did not live up to the hype. I got the sampler and everything was pretty underseasoned, overcooked and dry. Not sure what people are talking about, this is a pretty sad excuse for BBQ. Maybe I went too late in the day. My favorite is the tri tip sandwich, ribs are another hit with my hubby too. I love that they have two barbecue sauces to offer (one that is sweet that my husband loves, and one that is savory that is my favorite). Mac n cheese is ok but nothing to write home about I think the seasoned fries are the better side dish personally. Hubby also loves the cobbler and gets it every visit. Can't beat the affordable prices, generous portions, and it's only 5 min from home which has saved dinner multiple times I've forgotten to defrost something early enough! Decided to try them out after a friend recommended them. First, I was happy to see them wearing masks and enforcing COVID social distancing, etc... I ordered To-Go: the Two Meat combo with "Baby Back" ribs and Brisket, with Mac 'n Cheese and fries as my sides. The ribs were excellent... but they were NOT Baby Backs, they were Spare Ribs. Big difference. Flavor was great, but Spare Ribs are not nearly as tender as Baby Backs, and had I known they didn't have Baby Backs, I would have tried the Pulled Pork. The Brisket was great also, nice smoke ring, tender, and great smoked flavor. The mac 'n cheese was blah.... little to no actual cheese flavor, so it was basically orange noodles. The fries were decent enough. The sauce.... ugh. Tastes like it came from a bottle at the 99 cent store. Really bad. Essence of ketchup, sugar, and liquid smoke. Lucky I had some "good" sauce in the fridge. Would I go there again? Absolutely, but I would ONLY get the meats, and skip the sides and sauce. read more

So dangerous, this place is too close to where we live. It is tucked in a corner you might miss it with your eyes, but not your nose. Just follow that delicious BBQ smell. This bbq joint is small but the food packs some big flavors. We have tried everything and I am NOT kidding about that (like I said we live TOO close) but my favorite is the tri tip, it is perfectly prepared every time! I like the cowboy beans they got a bit of a sweet thang going, the fried okra - the dipping sauce has a little kick, and the fries. I like the ribs and the brisket too but I always order the tri tip. They have too options for bbq sauce, my husband likes the original I like the sweeter one and they have some good bottled rootbeer too. Hands down best place I been that sells ribs... maybe I don't know many BBQ restaurants but the ones I been to are the comercial ones, Phil's and Mike's come to mind. Well this place leaves them in shame. It's a small place I mostly order for take out. The quality of the meat and BBQ sauce is what keeps me coming back. This was my first time visiting and now I'm hooked. I got the 1/2 pound Brisket and Tri-Tip. Both meat are very tender and flavorful. I wish the brisket had more rub on top to make it Texas style, it besides that it's very good. I've been back a few more time and I usually just get the Tri-Tip for the family. Working on a project in Fallbrook and was heading to another food place, when I saw that it too busy. Looked up this place and wow I was so glad the other place was busy. This place is located in a small shopping area in Fallbrook that appears to be a bit dodgy. We had the nastiest experience today. Upon walking into the restaurant we were confronted by a white dude yelling some racist terms at us and we quickly ran to the car. We waited until this guy came out with his food. When he saw us walking into the restaurant again he was yelling some derogatory terms. We knew at this point we just had to pay and leave asap. Upon entering, we asked the cashier over the counter if that male customer was in a mental state, but needlessly to say she pretended everything was normal. We were just shaking. But, hey this is Fallbrook! Also, in line with other reviews, this place is bit pricey for what it is. The meat was overcooked but the biggest issue is the way they handled the food- they placed the hot food on the polystyrene box until the box is severely charred. Wouldn't this be a health hazard? The Rib Shack is definitely a shack, a small place with really good bbq ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and brisket. Plates come with 2 sides and sandwiches with 1. We come here often. They have some of the best tri-tip around! Ribs are usually really good but sell out often. Sides are tasty. Yesterday was the first time the brisket was not good. It was tough, looked old, and had a river of inedible fat in the middle. I took one bite and spit it out. I showed the uneaten slices to the cashier as we left. This is not typical. I wanted to share that while someone may have had a bad day yesterday (be it the cow or the cook), the food is normally very good. A tad pricey but what isn't anymore? The food is great and one of the few places near us to get dinner- 5 stars! However... the service lacks. I invited guests over on Labor Day and called the day before (Sunday) to make sure the restaurant would be open to place an order. The employee on the phone had to check with someone then told me yes, they would be open on the holiday with normal hours, 11-7. I called Monday to place our order and kept getting a recorded msg. We drive back and forth from Temecula to San Diego quite often and kept saying we needed to give this place a try. Today was the day and since the line at Nessy Burger was a mile long the choice was easy. We ordered the sampler platter so my husband could try all the meats with the exception of the hot links that we substituted for an extra portion of chicken since I only eat chicken. We ordered Mac n cheese, slaw and beans as our sides. Ribs - over cooked Brisket - dry..... very dry. No flavor other than smoke. Pulled pork - ok Chicken - the chicken was moist. That's it. No flavor, certainly no smoke flavor. I would swear it was baked, but at least it wasn't dry. Cole slaw was good, as were the beans. The Mac n cheese was horrendous. Kraft Mac n cheese would have been a vast improvement. It came with three sauces none of which were good. Hawaiian rolls were stale. Now I understand why the line at Nessy was so long. read more

Today when I went they were pretty slow (I was the only one in the place) which was good because I got to to go plate very quick. The disappointment was they messed up my order. I picked two sides with my tri tip plate and they gave me the wrong one. Here they have three different sauces, sweet, spicy and House. I choose the house dressing which was okay. Next time I will definitely pick the sweet. If I remember correctly that is what I had the first time and it was better. I'm always on the lookout for authentic and flavorful dishes when I go out and Rib Shack did NOT disappoint. Such a great hole in the wall spot, I tried the catfish, pulled pork sliders, ribs and mac n cheese. They're short staffed as many places are, but that does not impact their commitment to making their food delicious! Every dish was perfectly seasoned and obviously filled with the labor of love! The lovely lady working the front counter also gave me a free extra piece of catfish, such a doll. I would recommend ordering ahead through their website if you're on a time crunch as I did, but either way it's every second worth the wait!! (Only about 20 min wait time) read more

We are from Utah and it was our first time here. We had a brisket sandwich, tri-tip sandwich, fries and coleslaw. The sweet barbecue sauce was excellent. The tri-tip was pretty good but the brisket was the best I ever had. It has more fat and was very very tender. The cole slaw was very good. My wife thought the fries had too much salt. That is an easy fix just tell them light on the salt or no salt. I did not think the fries were too salty like my wife. Anyway, I highly recommend this place. Out of sight! We stopped to get a burger at Nessies as we usually do when we travel along I15. The line at Nessies was around the building, so we walked over to The Rib Shack. I'm sure glad we did. Food is outstanding. My wife and I split a 2 meat platter with beans and fried okra as our sides. You can always tell a good BBQ place by their beans. The Rib Shack's beans were excellent. For our meats we had brisket....melts in your mouth, and ribs, fall off of the bone. Excellent, both of them. I love when I have jobs on my route in Fallbrook and time for lunch! I order the Tri-Tip Sandwich with Fries and extra of that Spicy BBQ sauce (Soooo good!) This post, however, is to highlight the employees at The Rib Shack. I always receive the best customer service and friendly attitudes. My last visit was when Kali was working behind the counter! She was so professional taking my order I was kind of shocked! Then, on top of it all, she handled a disgruntled patron (not related to the restaurant) with so much grace and skill! Holy wow like holy WOWWWW I'm not kidding. As soon as you're in the parking lot you can smell the smoker and the amazingness of the meat. I've gotten ribs from here, and I'm not even a rib person but these are fall off the bone good! The flavor is just earth shattering. To be able to get something so flavorful and tender is definitely an accomplishment. I also love how they have everything: sandwiches, chicken, beef, you can get a plate with some greens. They have peach cobbler which I haven't tried yet but that'll be the next time I stop by because everything it so freaking good. I definitely reminds me of the food I had when I was down in Louisiana, it has that southern bbq charm and I'm not even a big bbq person but I think anyone who enjoys eating meat would enjoy The Rib Shack read more

This place is amazing! My husband and I had a brisket sandwich with fries and a Tri Tip sandwich with Mac and cheese. The brisket is fall-apart delicious! So good! And the tri tip was also very good. They have a selection of sauces to put on at the table. I'm not that big on bbq sauce, but I really liked the dark sauce. I couldn't stop making yummy noises while I was eating our lunch. The Mac and cheese was creamy and delicious and the fries had a really good seasoning on them. The meat is bbq'd outside, so your mouth starts watering even before you get inside to order your food. The drink selection has canned and bottled sodas as well as water bottles. They had cream soda! There's seating inside and outside. There was nice music playing inside while we ate. Jeff was our server and he was very nice. We stumbled upon The Rib Shack in our Entertainment app. It's right off the I-15 freeway and easy to get to.
